Comments about Celestron Celestron 8 x 30 Nature, Water Proof Porro Prism Binocular with 8.2° Angle of View:
I learned about this model on Bird Forum (UK), where some comments were quite critical of the manufacturer's quality control. However, there were many positive comments, so I decided to try a pair. The example I have is excellent, especially at the price. Optically, the binoculars are superb, with a wide, flat field and a high degree of sharpness and contrast. They are in collimation and seem to be ruggedly-built. Because they are a porro-prism design, the three-dimensional effect is greater than in a roof prism type with comparable power. The only negatives which I hesitate to mention are the stiff focusing (which may loosen-up with use;and the twist-up eyecups, which are a little flimsy ( this really doesn't affect me because I wear glasses and keep them turned down.) All-in-all, I think that these are wonderful binoculars - better than the Yosemite - and I'm very pleased to acquire them.
