Comments about Celestron Celestron Regal 80 F-ED, Angled Spotting Scope with 20x - 60x Zoom Eyepiece:
I use a spotting scope only occasionally for birding, so I saw no reason to spend the big bucks on a Kowa, Leica, Swarovski, etc. This Celestron really does a fine job and the price is remarkable. In one review it was awarded best scope under $1000. It runs out of steam just a bit from 50-60x, but up to that point it's bright and really sharp. Biggest downside? It's heavy. Not the sort of thing you'd enjoy hauling into the bush.

Comments about Celestron Celestron Regal 80 F-ED, Angled Spotting Scope with 20x - 60x Zoom Eyepiece:
I posted an extensive review of this scope[@]. This scope's performs optically at a level three times its current cost. I compared it directly with the Pentax equivalent and was floored by the fact that the Celestron was entirely comparable in every optical category and actually provided better contrast. Impressive!Mechanically I have not had any problems with it and the fine focus/course focus combination is very good as well. The only real negative is that it is a heavy scope. Two big thumbs up!
