Better get familiar with the area before you drive. It is nice if you lost your direction, but it is not often. Responding time is a little bit slow, it could be better.

I have had my nuvi 255W for a month now and I love it! I upgraded from the Garmin Street Pilot 330. I bought it mainly for the wide screen and because it "speaks" the street names and has considerably more POI's. I do not need the Blue Tooth option so this was not a problem for me on this model. It has taken me right to every address I have ever put in, although some of them were kind of "round about.' A few times when I would try it out around home, I hit "detour" and it would seem to take me a different route other than the "shortest" or "quickest" route. On ocassion it would not list the way I would normally go as being a "detour". Do I like this model? Absolutely? Would I do it all over again? Absolutely! I gave it five stars because for the money I think this is the best deal and I have not found any of the problems other people have experienced. I did not receive a USB cable with it which seems to be the complaint for this model. However, this was not a problem for me as I use the one from my digital camera. I usually bring the GPS in from my truck and charge it through my computer.

I use this product for those instances when I am uncertain of where a specific location is. In unfamiliar areas it is great to use to navigate if an alternate route is needed. The maps it comes with need to be made current to within the past year. A recent excursion with this would have had me getting off the main route because it did not have the construction that was finished 5 years ago.
