Comments about TomTom TomTom GO 720 Car GPS Navigation System with 4.3" TFT Color LCD Touch Screen, Voice Address Input:
I own my own trucking business and use this thing on a daily basis. I have had it for about 3 months and can't imagine starting a trip without it now.
About the only thing I have noticed is that the battery life doesn’t seem to last that long. Although I haven't timed it, the battery seems to only last maybe an hour or hour and fifteen minutes. This is not an issue for me though, because I only use it in the truck and keep it plugged in.
Other than the battery life, I haven't had any problems with the unit at all. I am starting to think that the problems most people are having come from high expectations. I don't care if it recognizes my voice or not, can’t keep me company, massage my feet, or cook my breakfast. It is a GPS unit, I only want it to ASSIST me in getting to where I am going, tell me how far I have to go, and what time I will be there (approximately).
I have seen some drivers put their complete trust into this little gadget and are upset when it doesn't live up to their expectations. A little common sense goes a long way. So, if you expect this, or any, GPS unit to give you 100% satisfaction don't waste your money because you will never be satisfied.
I will say that I was a little upset that after exactly 44 days after purchasing my 720 that TomTom released a new map pack and was going to charge me ninety bucks to get the new maps. I contacted them by email and was politely told to purchase the new maps or do without. Needless to say, I will be doing without. But, on a plus side for TomTom, I contacted them twice about my dissatisfaction and both times received a response within 32 hours.
So, to sum it all up; if you are looking for a good unit to assist you in getting from point A to point B, I don’t think you can go wrong here. Just make sure that the unit you are buying has the most up-to-date maps or that you are able to download it free of charge.

Comments about TomTom TomTom GO 720 Car GPS Navigation System with 4.3" TFT Color LCD Touch Screen, Voice Address Input:
Tom Tom seems confused about whether they want this device to support "Voice address input." It *does* have a mic. It *doesn't* come ready to do VR, and tomtom support will deny it as a supported function. The hack requires a map version you don't get via an automatic update.
Out of the box the device wouldn't work until I manually wiped one directory (accessed via My Computer), then used a system restore function which forced the unit into some Scandanavian language. Two hours of work. Still can't get the hack to activate voice recognition.
Come on, tomtom. Make up your mind.
