Comments about Phoenix Phoenix P-3000 35mm SLR Black Camera Body Kit with Phoenix 28-80mm f/3.5-5.6 PKR Lens:
This was my first film SLR that I bought for a photography class (2007). I actually cut my teeth in the film world on this camera. The camera does not have the best grip and ergonomics. The grip is a little small, but the film advance lever is nice and large making it easy to advance. The manual 28-80 lens that comes with this camera is decent for basic all around photography. The camera only uses manual lenses and has no automatic exposure or focus capabilities aside from auto shutter. The shutter wheel is conveniently placed allowing the user to change the shutter speed with the right thumb without changing grip on the body. The body has a standard focus screen. The shutter is a bit loud and comes down with a large "chomp". The light meter was a bit different than most in that it has a line for one stop over and one stop under exposure with your current exposure setting line blinking. My personal experience was flawed in that my camera's light sensor was out of sync with the ISO ring... This caused all of my first pictures to be badly over exposed. I had trouble pulling images out in the lab for my first assignments because of this! With a properly set light sensor, this camera should do well. The camera comes with an AE lock and double exposure lever/button. It also comes with a leather body and lens case. The camera requires the use of 2 LR44 batteries to operate. These batteries last a long time and are cheap to find at a store or [...].The body is made of high durability plastic with a metallic inner chassis. I have dropped this thing numerous times and it has never broken.Overall, this camera is a decent basic 35mm camera given you have a properly set light sensor!
