Works only in line of sight from the front of the camera, not as useful as I thought it might be.

I have not used this wireless remote more than a handful of times but when I have used it, it has lived up to it's expectations, only downside so far has been needing to be in line of sight with the sensor on the camera for it to work.

Very useful and very portable. You won't forget to bring it with you as it can be attached securely to the strap.

I had this product for my Canon Rebel XT wich was stolen and once I was able to purchase the equipment again I had to buy the Rebel XS (sicontinued XT or XTi) and sadly found out I could not use it with the XS (the camara does not even have the sensor at the front as the others).
Same goes for the RC-5 remote.
It worked GREAT with my stolen camara (sob) and if you want it for a XT, XTi, XSi, you will love it.
Some vendors do not even know this and as I am an overseas buyer it was not worth wile returning.

Comments about Canon Canon RC-1 Wireless Remote Controller for EOS Elan-II/IIE, Elan-7/7E/7N/7NE, Elan, Rebel Ti (Date Version Only), IX, EOS-10 & Digital Rebel:
It does what it's supposed to do, but it may not be the best for fast-moving subjects. I would sometimes have to press the button repeatedly in order for the camera to detect the signal. Also, the angle really matters. It cannot be pointed at any odd angle, like beside the camera or behind it. It may still work, but you may need to keep pointing and pressing the button a few times. The two-second shutter delay is a plus though, because it gives you enough time to hide the remote if you're in the frame.

Comments about Canon Canon RC-1 Wireless Remote Controller for EOS Elan-II/IIE, Elan-7/7E/7N/7NE, Elan, Rebel Ti (Date Version Only), IX, EOS-10 & Digital Rebel:
Bad things:
It may be the fault of the body itself (using with a 5D mark ii), but I find it hard to get pointed right. The lens seems to block the signal if you are on the opposite side from the sensor. It's like trying to line up a picky TV remote.
Good things:
Light and small enough that you can probably find room for it in your camera bag on any excursion.

Comments about Canon Canon RC-1 Wireless Remote Controller for EOS Elan-II/IIE, Elan-7/7E/7N/7NE, Elan, Rebel Ti (Date Version Only), IX, EOS-10 & Digital Rebel:
Is a good remote control, but is not more than that, a remote control!!. So if useful, if you have anychance to use it! Be aware that you should have a tripod for better use! Good for taking family pictures, or when you travel with your tripod, you don't need to ask someone to take the picture for you! Or when you are in a place with nobody else!
Comments about Canon Canon RC-1 Wireless Remote Controller for EOS Elan-II/IIE, Elan-7/7E/7N/7NE, Elan, Rebel Ti (Date Version Only), IX, EOS-10 & Digital Rebel:
The remote does exactly what is expected. Canon has only one sensor located on the front of the camera and to the right side of the lens. Due to the senors location, you are restricted to a narrow zone to activate the remote. It would be nice to have a senor on each side of the lens, and one on the rear of the camera too.

Comments about Canon Canon RC-1 Wireless Remote Controller for EOS Elan-II/IIE, Elan-7/7E/7N/7NE, Elan, Rebel Ti (Date Version Only), IX, EOS-10 & Digital Rebel:
In addition to the remote itself, the protective cap 2nds as an attachment to the strap for ease of carry and convenience. It's nice that this remote spans both film and digital models as I will use it when I upgrade. Range seems OK, nothing to write home about. Works well for long exposure/bulb activation.

Great for Self Photos instead of setting camera timers. No need to run to the group and wait for the shot. Strap mount for easy access.

Used this product for family portraits and stills. You need close range (3-5ft) of remote to camera remote sensor to activate shutter, literally need a direct line of sight to the camera's sensor to activate. Other than that, it's compact, light, and serves it's purpose. Holder for shoulder strap is a nice addition as well. I recommend with these reservations.
Comments about Canon Canon RC-1 Wireless Remote Controller for EOS Elan-II/IIE, Elan-7/7E/7N/7NE, Elan, Rebel Ti (Date Version Only), IX, EOS-10 & Digital Rebel:
Using a Digital Rebel XSi, you can only trigger the remote by being within maybe a 45-degree axis of the front of the lens. This does not work well when you need to be behind the camera or at a right angle to the lens. A corded remote would be better. You must also remember to change the menu to self-timer mode to use the remote. Other than those limitations, it works very well.

This works great with 5D Mark II. Finally I can be with my photo subjects. This remote can be clipped to your neck strap so you won't lose it.

Sixteen foot range, has to be aimed at sensor for the most part. It's good enough more most shots. I wouldn't use it to take pictures of lions while I hide far out of site. It's just a simple remote that takes the picture. It doesn't allow you to change the settings on the camera, but thats not what it's for. A remote is intended to reduce shaking from the hand hitting the button. Tripod + Mirror Lock Up + This Remote = great shots! A must for Bulb Mode!!

It doesn't take every shot. It's like it needs more power and is not new batteries. But gets some of the job done, not too bad for its price.

This is an awesome little gadget. It's almost too small and worry about losing it if I attach it as designed to the strap. If it had a longer timer,...how cool would that be,..?? lol Very functional, reasonably priced and fun to use.

Comments about Canon Canon RC-1 Wireless Remote Controller for EOS Elan-II/IIE, Elan-7/7E/7N/7NE, Elan, Rebel Ti (Date Version Only), IX, EOS-10 & Digital Rebel:
Had an RC-1 for a year now and very happy with it. I use it a lot for time lapse stuff because it means you don't have to touch the camera and risk moving it. Original batteries still going strong. Comes with strap clip so that you don't lose it.
In a perfect world it would have an interval timer built in so that you could leave it and it would take a shot every few mins, but Canon don't make one at all for the 350D (my camera), so I guess that's wishing a bit.
This product means the end for the shutter release cable. It does the same job without a wire. Range excellent, reliability excellent, size excellent. Does the job perfectly. Buy it.

this product works great, but my canon EOS 7N goes to sleep after a couple of minutes, so the remote will no longer control the shutter when the camera is asleep.

The RC-1 remote performs as expected. I have never had to replace the battery (so far). This little device lives on the included snap-on holder, attached to my Digital Rebel's shoulder strap. It has come in handy many times as a remote controller for group shots, or for time-lapse photography. I recommend it!

Comments about Canon Canon RC-1 Wireless Remote Controller for EOS Elan-II/IIE, Elan-7/7E/7N/7NE, Elan, Rebel Ti (Date Version Only), IX, EOS-10 & Digital Rebel:
The Canon RC-1 remote is perfect for my needs. It's small, easy to use, and uncomplicated. I love the fact that the clip slides onto my camera strap so the remote is always readily available. It also gives you two options, an instant shot or a 10-second delayed shot. When I have my camera mounted on a tripod for portraits of the kids, using the remote is much easier than having to press the button.

Comments about Canon Canon RC-1 Wireless Remote Controller for EOS Elan-II/IIE, Elan-7/7E/7N/7NE, Elan, Rebel Ti (Date Version Only), IX, EOS-10 & Digital Rebel:
It works 7 out of 10 times. The other times either the distance or the angle was not good enough for the camera to detect it.
It is great for night tripod shots, but you must stand in front of the camera for it to detect the remote.

I use this for some portraits but mostly for taking shots of jewelry for a friends web site within a light box. Has a nice range and the holder clips right to the neck strap for easy access.
