Comments about Canon Canon Eyepiece Extender EP-EX15 II for EOS 5D, 40D, 50D, Rebel XSi & Digital Rebel XTi/XT Cameras:

Extender makes wearing glasses much more comfortable. I tried it on my 50D at a store first. Canon quality, solid feel, well made, tight fit!
Hasn't been off till tonight so I could write a more objective timely review. Actually, I got my best view with everything off. The original rubber eye piece clashed with my glasses on and Pwas the most uncomfortable and technically non-functional viewing.

Comments about Canon Canon Eyepiece Extender EP-EX15 II for EOS 5D, 40D, 50D, Rebel XSi & Digital Rebel XTi/XT Cameras:

It's a good product for keeping my nose off of the display screen on the camera, but the fact that it has a negative magnification factor means that every aspect of usihg the viewfinder is more difficult. I would not recommend this extender to anyone.

Comments about Canon Canon Eyepiece Extender EP-EX15 II for EOS 5D, 40D, 50D, Rebel XSi & Digital Rebel XTi/XT Cameras:

The nose smudges on the LCD were driving me crazy. This eyepiece really cuts down on the problem. I did have a couple of instances where the eyepiece fell off but I think there is a positive "click" when it fastens into place. I don't know why Canon does not build in the extension to it's design.

Comments about Canon Canon Eyepiece Extender EP-EX15 II for EOS 5D, 40D, 50D, Rebel XSi & Digital Rebel XTi/XT Cameras:

Well, this extender will reduce the area of view by 30%. That means the objects you normally would see in the viewfinder without using this eye-piece extender would appear far away.
The only convenience of the eye-piece extender is that your nose will not rub against the LCD screen but again you will have to sacrifice on the decrease in the area of view.
Instead, I would recommend to attach the camera to a tripod, use the Live view (LCD) and buy a remote control shutter release to get very sharp pictures.

Comments about Canon Canon Eyepiece Extender EP-EX15 II for EOS 5D, 40D, 50D, Rebel XSi & Digital Rebel XTi/XT Cameras:

These should be a default with every camera. If you don't have one--get one. Just be sure that you get the right one--my first purchase was EP-EX15 (NO II) and it won't fit the Rebel XSI. I'm using the first one on my 50D, but it tends to fall off easily--so I will be buying another EP-EX15 II for it.

Comments about Canon Canon Eyepiece Extender EP-EX15 II for EOS 5D, 40D, 50D, Rebel XSi & Digital Rebel XTi/XT Cameras:

Works great but you need to order the Canon Rubber Frame EB or you will not have a rubber pad for your eye to sit on. Also works with diopter lenses. Canon makes it hard to know what you need to order with the extender. Keep the old rubber pad in case you don't like the extender- but it's not likely unless you have no nose!

Comments about Canon Canon Eyepiece Extender EP-EX15 II for EOS 5D, 40D, 50D, Rebel XSi & Digital Rebel XTi/XT Cameras:

This eyepiece extender is a great idea that should have been either a part of the camera design, or a standard accessory. When using the EOS Rebel XSi, you really need to use the SLR eyepiece viewfinder to compose and just plain aim the camera. Despite having a large LCD screen, the camera isn't really set up, as a lower cost digital camera would be, to us the LCD for composition. When you use the optical viewfinder, you end up pressing your nose against the LCD screen. Noses are notoriously greasy, and this grease smudges all over the LCD screen. Using this extender, you gain an extra 15mm, which cuts down on this smudging in a major way.

Just remove the padded eyepiece shade by pulling up on it, replace it with the extender, and then assemble the eyepiece shade on the extender. That's all there is to it.

I've read several reviews of this accessory that said it was a waste of money, or that it cuts down on the size of the image in the viewfinder. I think it is definitely worth the price, and fixes a small drawback in the camera design. When I first used the extender, I found that the included optics produce an image that is now just right, as you can also see the digital readout info at the bottom of the viewfinder without straining to see it.
