I recommend having an expert install this. I just installed the screen and it wasn't as easy for me as everyone else. I removed the factory screen in my 5DM2 very easily. Then, I placed the new screen in the "seat" - or so I thought. When I pushed up on the focusing screen holder with the new screen on it, it gave me a little resistance which I thought was normal. It wasn't - it ended up chipping a corner of the screen off (!!!).
Fortunately I managed to get the screen in place so that it easily latched into place when pushing up on the focusing screen holder - no resistance at all. I thought I had removed the chip that broke off.
Then I used a rocket blower and the chip that broke off almost flew out (it landed close to the exterior and away from the mirror (Thank God!). I got it out using a jeweler's screwdriver with scotch tape adhered to it.
I was very lucky that I did not scratch the mirror. Also the part of the screen that chipped off does not show up when I look in the viewfinder.

The lines are not quite at the rule of thirds positions but this is still a great addition to your DSLR.

This is an excellent Piece of accessory from Canon, I believe it's the most important thing to buy for your Canon 5D Mark II, It's very useful for any kind of photography since it makes it much easier to get an outstanding composition from the first shot and without having to crop your photos on your computer to align it!
I don't really like to change any parts in my expensive camera or even play with it, but the installation was very easy, safe and clean especially after watching a short video tutorial online. The screen is exactly the same quality as the original one attached to the camera, same clarity, same brightness, it just has those great extra grid lines.
The box includes a very durable mini kit that has a storage case for an additional focus screen and a small tool to hold, install and remove it without having to touch anything with your fingers.
The only downside if i may say, is that installation might be easy for anyone, but aligning the focus screen to get those grid lines perfectly centered could be tricky some times, it needs a meticulous hand, personally i had to repeat the installation about 5 times to get the grid lines perfectly centered with the focus points in the camera.
Overall the product is just great and i think Canon should make it the default focus screen on all their camera bodies.

Works great, and installs easily. If you use the far side lines it gives a very close crop to 8x10 at a much lower price than the custom made ones.

The Canon EG-D Grid Focusing Screen is really easy to install and easy to use. It definitely will enhance the quality of your images because your final results will be more accurate and precise. Highly recommendable.

The grid is helpful in aligning your photo vertically and horizontally. However, it's relatively inconspicuous and can be hard to see against a dark background.
Installation is not difficult, but Canon's enclosed instructions are kind of inscrutable, even the section printed in English. Fortunately, there is a youtube video that demonstrates the installation.
