Comments about Hähnel Hahnel UHF Wireless RF Remote Control for All Canon DSLR's:

This is a very good and economical substitute for the Canon remote control.
Be careful of the receiver's battery contacts. It is very easy to smoosh the coiled contact when inserting the battery.
Be sure to carry a spare CR2 receiver battery with you. The Sanyo battery that comes with it isn't worth much.

Comments about Hähnel Hahnel UHF Wireless RF Remote Control for All Canon DSLR's:

This little thing works great on both my Canon 50D and 30D, when trying to shoot remote, long bulb shots, or when my wife gives me a honey-do while I am trying to capture lightning or other hard to photo images. I can set the camera up where I want and trigger away from virtually anywhere. It is also useful when the long sun is at your back and you do not want your shadow to be in the photograph. I am thinking about buying second to get wider coverage with two cameras during lightning shots....

Comments about Hähnel Hahnel UHF Wireless RF Remote Control for All Canon DSLR's:

Purchased this unit just before leaving on a photo trip to SE Asia. It worked well, but only when it worked at all. Some of the issues experienced-

Camera adapter cable and captive cable on receiver kept separating; poor snap-lock design

Battery packaged with receiver died after a couple of firings. Fortunately I had brought a spare, but wasn't happy with need to replace it so soon

Receiver would occasionally lock up, and only a battery removal / reinstall would unlock it

Bottom line is I got what I paid for. This unit is half the price (or less) of some competitive options, but IMO it's not quite ready for Prime Time.

This little jewel is a "must have" accessory for your camera bag. The instructions are nearly useless at first blush, but with some thought and patience one can figure it out. Once you are past that problem all is smooth sailing. This things works ... from a distance, through walls, floors, etc ... and it is so much fun to use. The price is right, the build quality is excellent, and any photographer will love this very useful and fun addition to their tool set. GET ONE!!

Comments about Hähnel Hahnel UHF Wireless RF Remote Control for All Canon DSLR's:

The instructions are nearly useless, but with a bit of patience and ingenuity one can figure it out. Once that is done this little jewel is one of those "can't do without" accessories for your camera. It works as advertised ... long distance, through walls, etc. One oddity is on my Canon 40D it will take a single shot only on "Auto". Any other setting and it takes multiple shots. I suspect it may have something to do with my camera and not this wireless release. In any case, it is hardly a show stopper as I have large storage. For the price you cannot beat this thing ... highly recommended.

I have used this remote a number of times inside and outdoors and it works well so far...the only negative I have is the instructions leave something to be desired and I had to get Hahnel's U.S.A. reps to e-mail me step by step instructions which they gladly did and the remote works like it is supposed to. [...]Get one, you'll like it.

Graphic Instructions Are Less Than Clear
By DrewVerified Reviewer from Long Beach, CA on 12/9/2008
Cons:
Difficult to figure out
Best Uses:
Hands-off Shutter
Describe Yourself:
Professional
Bottom Line:
Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

Comments about Hähnel Hahnel UHF Wireless RF Remote Control for All Canon DSLR's:

It was difficult to figure out how to use it from the graphical only instruction manual.
It works well and once you figure it out, is easy to use.
A switch on the remote is labeled "4 S." The instruction sheet shows a 3 second switch. In any case, it doesn't seem to do anything special when used with my EOS 5D. The immediate or 10 second delay is controlled by my camera. I was not able to get any delay between immediate and 10 seconds, which is all my camera has options for. (No big deal.)
The shutter can be triggered by using a button on the receiver or a button on the sender.
The sensor is designed to rest in the camera's hotshoe. I let it just hang off the side. (My hotshoe has a spirit level in it.)

I've not been able to find the sender's battery listed on Adorama. The instructions call it a "23A". Adorama lists an "A23." Both are 12 volts. I hope it is the same.
The sender's battery case requires a very tiny screw driver to get to the battery.

PERFECT for your Canon G10 Powershot!
By LongJohnSilverVerified Reviewer from London, England on 11/17/2008

Bottom Line:

Comments about Hähnel Hahnel UHF Wireless RF Remote Control for All Canon DSLR's:

For group photos with your Canon G10 Powershot, this is just the ticket! The G10 has the same socket as Canon DSLRs. I LOVE this little gizmo. It will fire the camera through double pane glass 50 feet away - maybe longer. A light press of the sender button puts the camera into FOCUS mode, and full press snaps the photo. PERFECT! [@]
