Comments about Hoodman Hoodman Professional Right Angle Viewfinder:

I am disappointed in the way that it fits on my Canon 20D and D60. I'm sure that it would get more use if it fit properly. I can't see why the manufacturer could not make a better fit for a popular camera line such as Canon. Other than the fit it seems to be made well and is easy to use.

Comments about Hoodman Hoodman Professional Right Angle Viewfinder:

This is great for those low angle shots. It's easily adaptable to any camera in just a few seconds. If I could change anything about it, it would be the carrying case which needs to be a little larger. Great idea and I certainly would recommend it to anyone.

Comments about Hoodman Hoodman Professional Right Angle Viewfinder:

I do have a right angle view finder, which is attached/connected to the front of the lens. The Hoodman Professional Right Angle Viewfinder cannot be used by me because I need to use eye-glasses to take pictures. Knowing the advantages of a right-angle view finder, the Hoodman product is indeed an useful item for hobbyists as well as semi-professional BUT is not applicable to me who needs to use eye-glasses all the time.

Comments about Hoodman Hoodman Professional Right Angle Viewfinder:

Don't use one of these guys now as extensively as I I did before (i.e. the film era). Had one from Canon which was made so much better and used it for years. This product is so-so for real lightweight work, but if you are going to use it a lot, spend a little more and get one from a major manufacturer.

Not for Pentax K 2000
By busboy72Verified Reviewer from northwest US on 6/12/2009

Comments about Hoodman Hoodman Professional Right Angle Viewfinder:

The add copy say: fits all digital slrs.
But all the attachments are for Canon or Nikon. I tried them all and none work for the Pentax K 2000.

Comments about Hoodman Hoodman Professional Right Angle Viewfinder:

This is pretty well made right ange finder. It works well enough. Eye cup is good. Focus is good and smooth. It is not as well made or compact as my old Minolta VN. The one thing I really don't like is that the adapters do not lock on. They slip on just like it slips onto the camera eyepiece.

does the job nicely
By BNVerified Purchaser from Malmo Sweden on 1/3/2009
Pros:
Easy To Use, Lightweight
Best Uses:
Macro Photography
Describe Yourself:
Hobbyist/Enthusiast
Bottom Line:
Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

Comments about Hoodman Hoodman Professional Right Angle Viewfinder:

Great price compared to one from a camera manufacturer. The only minor comment is that you have to focus it after switching from 1X to 2X, although I have not had to do this while framing a shot. Fit my D300 just fine and prevented a few cricks in the neck and keeps me from rolling around on the ground - get one if you want to keep off the ground and your knees clean. The connection to the camera with the adaptor seemed like it could be a little more elegant with some kind of cover over the metal, but it works well.

Pros:
Easy To Use
Cons:
Easily damaged, Limits field of view, Not Durable
Best Uses:

Bottom Line:

Comments about Hoodman Hoodman Professional Right Angle Viewfinder:

It is ok for right angle viewing. Focus changes when switching from 1x to 2.5x. Definitely will not survive a moderate fall. (Personal experience) Does not show entire view finder which is troublesome for composing and seeing your settings in the view finder. I can recommend given my comments above so you know what to expect.

Didn't like it
By David SVerified Reviewer from Houstonopolis on 9/24/2008
Describe Yourself:
Hobbyist/Enthusiast
Bottom Line:
No, I would not recommend this to a friend

Comments about Hoodman Hoodman Professional Right Angle Viewfinder:

I used it on a D70. I found it a bit dim. The attachment to the camera is not as secure as a manufacture branded viewer because of the need for adapters. The diopter adjustment seemed to vary between 2.5X and 1X settings. Construction and optical quality seemed good. I don't know if the Nikon viewer is any better, but it just wasn't convenient to use.

Comments about Hoodman Hoodman Professional Right Angle Viewfinder:

I use it mainly for macro shots. Works great especially with the magnifying. I wish they made a magnifier without the 90 degree bend too! It's a little loose on the eye piece or I'd definitely give it 5/5.

Bottom Line:

Comments about Hoodman Hoodman Professional Right Angle Viewfinder:

I had put off buying a right-angle viewer because of mixed reviews re: fit. But the Hoodman model comes with several adapters and the one for my Canon 40D fits snugly and is easy to install and take off. It works well at both 1x and 2.5x magnifications, though I have to adjust my diopter each time I use it and readjust it when I return to normal viewing. I no longer feel like a contortionist when I take low to the ground shots. I also like the swivel feature; it really is handy for portrait-oriented shots. Excellent product.

Not great, but sometimes helpful
By johnmcdonVerified Purchaser from Cartersville/Montecatini on 7/10/2008
Pros:

Cons:
Not Functional
Best Uses:
Macro Photography, Panorama
Describe Yourself:
Getting Started
Bottom Line:
No, I would not recommend this to a friend

Comments about Hoodman Hoodman Professional Right Angle Viewfinder:

I have only tried it a couple times, and it looks ok at the 2.5x setting, just barely gets in focus. It does crop corners at 2.5x but it's not too bad. Unfortunately I can not get a clear view at 1x, the camera adjustment did not compensate so it is extremely blurry, with or without my glasses. The 1x is also quite small. It needs focusing built in for my use. For awkward camera positions when you can't get a view, it is very handy and sometimes even indispensable. I am between Yes & No for a recommendation, it does work, but not like it should. (using it on a Nikon D200 & D300)

Comments about Hoodman Hoodman Professional Right Angle Viewfinder:

As macro photography is my main endevor i find the this right angle finder indispensable, there are many situations such as getting close to the ground, where you would otherwise be in a contorted position , the Hoodman right angle finder when combined with a tripod and remote release is a tremendous asset i also do alot of table top maco work with a copy stand, the right angle finder puts you in a good position that keeps the work right in front of you, the 2x magnification is a tremendous aid in critical focusing.Keep up the good work

Comments about Hoodman Hoodman Professional Right Angle Viewfinder:

When you get to be an old fart it is hard to twist around to get the camera in a perfect spot for the perfect picture, especially doing macro photography. The Hoodman is perfect for enabling the physically challenged "mature photographer" to correctly position the camera.

Comments about Hoodman Hoodman Professional Right Angle Viewfinder:

The world is not all at 5'8"!This is a way to get DOWN!The ease of obtaining perspectives offered by this viewfinder is what it is all about. Very well made with bright adjustable optics - the Hoodman allows you to easily get a new birdseye, dogseye whatever view - get those sweeping perspectives with your fisheye from ground level, shoot around corners without ( almost ) being seen and get critical focus with the 2.5x magnifier. It should be included with any new camera purchase - remember the removable prisms of the Nikon F2? This is the next best thing

Cons:

Best Uses:

Bottom Line:
Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

Comments about Hoodman Hoodman Professional Right Angle Viewfinder:

I have taken lots of flower macro picture over athe years and until now have ended up laying in the dirt or other not flattering postions. This slip-on gadget solved the problem of not being able to see through the viewfinder while using a short tripod. It also swivels so you can take vertical shots. The only "con" is the adapter doesn't lock on, so it easily falls off when you disconnect from the camera. The set includes multiple adapters, but only one in each size. I would prefer to order the adapter separately.

I was hoping/expecting that it would serve more like the monitor of the CP8800 or Olympus 330.
Much more difficult to use than I expected. But it is very well made and adaptable to many different cameras.
