Comments about Canon Canon BG-E2N Battery Grip for many Digital Cameras:

Long battery life. Versatile to allow you to use 1 or 2 BP-511A batteries or 6 AA batteries. Purchase an extra AA battery tray to allow quick swaps when your running low on power. Should be a mandatory purchase with any camera.

Comments about Canon Canon BG-E2N Battery Grip for many Digital Cameras:

Purchased the battery grip mainly for portrait and vertical shots. It is not something I would use on a daily basis for casual shooting because it does add more weight to the camera.

It helps balance the weight when I have my Canon 24-70 mm lens on because the lens is so heavy.

Comments about Canon Canon BG-E2N Battery Grip for many Digital Cameras:

The grip meets all expectations that I bought the unit for. Only a couple of items keep it from being a 5 star. One is that it has an on/off switch. Canon should have designed the grip to come on when you turn the main camera on. Second, you can see daylight between the grip and the camera (50d) when attached. This concerns me for it creates an area for dirt/dust/moisture to accumulate. Canon should have designed a perimeter on the grip to address this issue.

Comments about Canon Canon BG-E2N Battery Grip for many Digital Cameras:

I'd been looking for an extended battery with a second trigger & option buttons for quite a while for Canon 20D. The BG-E2N fit all my requirements. Works great with the body and makes adjustments quickly (no sluggish response from the added buttons). It's also a nice feature to have the on/off switch solely for those buttons as well (and seems to save battery life when switched off). My only complaints/reason for it not getting the full 5 stars is that when using the AA battery tray (houses 6 AA batteries) I barely get 150 pictures out of each (200 in a sitting is low for me)... which clearly gets expensive. Once I switched to 2 Canon batteries, that issue was solved and I have no other complaints. I love it!

Wish there was a 4.5 stars ratings!

Comments about Canon Canon BG-E2N Battery Grip for many Digital Cameras:

I shoot sports (mainly gymnastics) as well as nature, portrait, candid, etc. and the Canon BG-E2N Battery Grip is a God-send. Now I don't have to crane my arm over or bend my wrist under into uncomfortable positions to shoot portrait mode. The weekend after receiving the grip I shot 1200 frames at my daughters regional gymnastics meet in ergonomic comfort and had battery life to spare. This is worth every penny. It fit perfectly without any contact issues that I have read about with the off-brand models. I was originally going to buy an off-brand but the reviews weren't too encouraging. So I stuck with Canon and am 100% satisfied. All the buttons and controls match the feel of my 30D which is important so you don't miss a shot. It does add size and weight to the camera but it more than makes up for it with its versatility and performance. And for me, it is actually more comfortable to hold in landscape mode but even more so in portrait as it adds some bulk to he grip in that mode. I also like that the details, the feel and the textures match my 30D body. This is an excellent grip and should be at the top of the accessories purchase list even before a good flash. Highly recommended!

Comments about Canon Canon BG-E2N Battery Grip for many Digital Cameras:

Nice piece of equipment. Adds to the size considerably. I added mine to a Canon 50D which adds to the weight quite a bit.

Pros:
*Makes shooting "portrait" style photos more natural;
*Adds significant amount of gripping surface; *extends the amount of photos you can take (with two batteries installed;
*can be used with a single B-511 battery or six AA batteries
*Very well made, feels VERY solid on the 50D

Cons:
*Weight (what do you expect when you add an accessory?)
*Does not have the AF button that is needed for the live view mode on the 50D
*A bit pricey

In conclusion, a good accessory if you have long shooting sessions where you switch from landscape to portrait style of shooting. If you are an occasional user, it may be a bit extreme to get this grip. If you choose to buy this grip, you'll be pleased.

Comments about Canon Canon BG-E2N Battery Grip for many Digital Cameras:

Great accessory for my 40D. Improves grip in both positions and balances the camera nicely. Also adds the option for the handstrap which further improves grip and confidence. I have kind of big hands and this really helps. I can't really speak to the improvement in battery life as that hasn't really been a problem in the past but I suppose that just means I won't have a problem.
4 stars because not all buttons are there (AF-on missing) and the attachment could be firmer (concerns about the future) at this price.

Comments about Canon Canon BG-E2N Battery Grip for many Digital Cameras:

As a professional fashion/commercial photographer for over 30 years I personally have always liked a large and heavier camera. The BG-E2N grip was the perfect addition for me on my Canon 40D. It was like adding a stabilizer on the camera. It's much more comfortable in my hands and the controls are very well and conveniently placed. I would strongly suggest if your adding the grip to also get the hand strap. A great marriage of balance and harmony. The fit was perfect and smooth. No cons for me.

Comments about Canon Canon BG-E2N Battery Grip for many Digital Cameras:

I bought this for my 50d in order to cover sporting events and situations that require steady portrait-configured composition, such as casual portraits and candids. It attaches quite securely and feels and acts like part of the camera. It adds weight to the camera, but the benefits for composition are worth it, not to mention doubling your battery capacity. I run only one battery in it at a time normally, but if you shoot much live view I would recommend running two.

It even has a slot inside that holds your old battery door!

I've used the product for 1 month now, and it has performed flawlessly. there is even a place on the grip to install your camera battery cover so you don't lose it. Comments about Canon Canon BG-E2N Battery Grip for many Digital Cameras:

2 batteries is a nice buffer for power, but the big advantage for me is handling, esp. for portrait shots. The balance and grip in this position is really good and the additional weight a small sacrifice.
The molded indent to take the original battery door is a nice touch.
What I do miss is having a repeater button for the AF stop.

Comments about Canon Canon BG-E2N Battery Grip for many Digital Cameras:

This is a great addition to my EOS 40D. It does exactly what it is supposed to do. I like having two batteries for lengthy events, and the added vertical shutter release and controls are great. The added size to my camera gives people a sense of professionalism. It's funny how adding a battery pack to your camera will get so many remarks like, "are you with a newspaper?" or, "wow! You have a professional camera." I wish it cost less, but then again, I wish all gear cost less. I feel like it is a quality item for a decent price.

Comments about Canon Canon BG-E2N Battery Grip for many Digital Cameras:

I've been extremely pleased with this battery grip. It has really improved the ergonomics of my camera when shooting, particularly when shooting in the "portrait position." The extended use of my camera before having to change a battery was never a big issue for me in the past, but that's a nice perk of the battery grip. I would recommend the grip more for the improved ergonomics. I've read in the past that some have experienced some "play" with the grip - feeling a little loose. I've experiences this a bit when using a large lens like a 70-200L IS 2.8, but it really did not affect my shooting in any way. I have noticed, that although you can use the grip with just one battery installed, you are better off using both battery slots because this helps the grip feel more stiff. Then you don't experience as much "play" with the grip. One caveat is that the grip does not have the "autofocus on" button near the portrait position shutter release. However, I don't consider this a deal breaker because I do not use the button a lot. Just something to think about if you are considering this product. Again, I would highly recommend the grip.

Does exactly what it's intended for: Stores two BP 511A battery packs and provides more power for longer periods of time. I used this on my 50D all day skiing for 6+ hours in subzero weather and never lost a photo due to lack of battery power. Also serves as vital additional grip other than just the camera body when hand-holding longer lenses. Awesome!
