As per my experience with another Canon battery model. I date my batteries when I buy them and made the mistake of buying aftermarket batteries. I know Canon doesn't make the battery but i'm betting that they are made to Canon specs so they perform better. 4 year old Canon batteries are still alive, and one of the 2 yr old aftermarkets are already dead.
