I guess my only issue is the need to buy the battery cover for the EN-EL4 battery. Very solid and excellent run time, no need to carry extra batteries on all day hikes.

Great product. Gave it five stars because it is a good product, but it would be nice if they just built it in in the first place and come with the better battery (4a) instead of having to pair up all the stuff you need to make it work for you. No one else had said this but to really get the life out of the MB-D10 you need to buy the 4a battery and then the BL-3 cover for the battery. It will work great then.

This grip saves your wrists during the long hours of capturing portraits by holding the camera in a normal position. All of the basic controls are at your finger tips for that fine adjustment to capture the golden moment.

I had it out for the first time today, so I can't comment on reliability, but I love it.
Went out to shoot at the Texas Renaissance Festival and it was great. Since individuals were my main focus, it saved me from having a cramping forearm shooting portraits. This can be a problem in a long shoot, doing portraits.
Today, however, I felt like the 'energizer bunny',ready to keep on going and going ...
Don't know why I waited to get one.
If anyone is considering it, just do it.
The added comfort, speed, and extra battery life are more than worth it.

This makes holding the camera so much easier.. it is excellent to have that added piece on the base and to know the back up battery is in there. I recommend this to anyone who wants to be able to run off and shoot and forget the worries over battery recharging. I was recommended this by fellow photographer Bob Harrington -- focusinclose[@] and he was right! Everyone needs this!

Increased frame rate and vertical grip make this seem a vital part of the camera more than just an accessory. It also means you always have a spare battery and, in a pinch, can use standard AA's.

I love the ergonomics of a gripped body and the D700 + MBD10 is a perfect match. The grip fits and integrates nicely to the body . Installation is a breeze. The shutter button feels the same as the one on the camera however finding the AF-ON button takes a little getting used to and the multi controller is certainly different.
My only complaint is that there is no strap mounting position on the bottom of the grip.

Elected to spend the $$ for the Nikon version vs aftermarket offerings: Why cheap out on a $70 battery grip that supports your $4000+ DSLR kit? Nikon is overpriced, but has a solid metal shell vs plastic.

Very solid construction and EZ grip material. As expected from a Nikon. Hands really feels great on the grip especially for continuous vertical shooting. Dials and shutter release button have the same exact feel and tactile pressure as the D700 body it is attached on. The focus selector button takes a little getting used to due to it's size and placement but is manageable. The unit easily installed in seconds out of the box. One very convenient feature is the recessed cavity on top of the grip where the D700's rubberized contact cover easily snaps into place for safekeeping. 8 Frames/sec works as advertised with right battery. It is, however, expensive and quickly adds bulk and weight to the camera.

I bought the grip for my D700. I found the D700 alone was actually difficult to grip because it's a relatively small camera, at least compared to the D3. I'm used to shooting film on an F4, which is very comfortable for me. With the MB-D10 added onto the D700 I find that almost half of my hand is gripping the bottom right hand side of the grip and that I can spread my fingers out along the grip surface for a more secure hold. Plus, the rubber grip material is great--almost tacky. And, of course you can flip the camera vertical without flailing your elbows out, which introduces instability and fatigue and lead to blurry images. Buy it with the camera. Period.

On my D300 and D300s, this grip provides better feel, balance and utility. Much better for portrait orientation. Rock solid Nikon construction.

I purchase battery packs for all my cameras. They make it more comfortable and easy to use including much more stable for hand held shots. I also shot several VR lenses that use extra battery and it helps me go all day or even days shooting up to 1000 shots a day and never having a battery problem. With the added pack I never even tap into the cameras battery yet. I could possibly shot for days!

Awesome! 8fps w/EN-EL4a on D700. Very long lasting. I shot two complete weddings and some mis. stuff on one charge of the EN-EL4a battery, and still hade charge left. Not to mention the camera battery still had 100% charge left. Many battery options (AA's, En-El3e, & EN-EL4a). EN-EL4a & BL-3 & MH-21 sold sep. Love it! Easy to get on and off quickly. Strong construction.

I hesitated to purchase the battery pack, but after purchasing it I realized what a great compliment it is for my Nikon D 300.It also provides a very nice grip when taking pictures
vertically. I specialize in outdoor photography in the Everglades and the battery pack provides the ability to keep taking pictures rapidly without a concern for a run down battery.

I take multiple pictures of animals in Agility competition as well as in the show ring. Bracketing and burst exposure is a requirement and this unit pushes the performance of my D700 to the limit. The extra weight provides a bit more balance to the action shots as the camera movement is more predictable and manageable.

i have purchased the Nikon MB-D10 after putting it off for months. i am so happy that i did. i generally use it on my D700 with a 70-200 vr lens. it give this set-up a nice balance especially with the vertical grip and i found out that running out of power now is not a option. some would say that it is too heavy or bulky. i say no , i am in training for my next camera the D3 (wink)

I like how snug the piece is. I use it with lithium batteries for now, till I get the enel4. Please practice before u go out to use it, the trigger is very sensitive to the touch. All other controls are perfectly placed and easy to use. I highly recommend this item. Enjoy

The grip is essential for your D700/D300 if you are shooting on a daily basis, with an adapter, it allows you to put the most powerful Nikon EN-EL4a battery on your D700/300, thus allow uber extended shooting times.

It's constructed of all metal, not like any other cheap battery grips you see that's made with all plastic. It fits extremely well on D700/D300. The 5-way navigation button on the grip provide extra option for navigating menus and autofocus points.

Highly recommended. Without it the D700, D300 wouldn't be your D700 or D300.

Got this battery pack just before a trip to the Florida Birding Trail in April. The 8fps it upgrades my D300 to, allows for photo op's for in flight birds, and other assorted natural interactions I might have otherwise missed. I have small hands and was pleased to find it was not overly awkward. You have to order the EN-EL4 or EN-EL4a battery & it's recharger for 8fps but it can be used with the regular D300 battery also (en-el3e). I splurged and got the whole set-up and was very pleased! If you can do that, you won't be disappointed. If you can't, I suggest you start with the battery pack and work up to the EN-EL4a & charger later.

A great product. Adds to your time in the field before needing to recharged your batteries. You can choose(with the D300)which battery to use first-the one in the camera or the battery pack. A must have. Extremely convenient for portrait view photography.

This grip is wideley suggested as a must have accessory for the D300 and D700 and for very good reason! I makes a solid addition to either camera and gives the shooter so much convenience. You have full secondary controls and secondary power. The construction matches either camera they attach to. Just need to search the MB-D10 on the internet and you'll have more great info than any one person can handle. I have no idea why I waited so long to pick this thing up.

I use the MB-D10 on a D300. My main reason for getting the Nikon grip over a generic version is the build quality. With the D300 or D700's weather sealing, why compromise with a questionable product?

Only downside to the grip is the very sensitive shutter. The half press on the grip is much shorter then on the body. The also could have make the duplicate multi-selector consistent with the body. The duplicate is only 4-way vs the 8-way on the body.

Otherwise, there is very little to complain about. Makes the body more comfortable, increases the battery life, more power options, and boosts the frame rate. Would be nice if they could have added a programmable function button as well, but not necessary.

I love this battery pack! It makes the camera feel much more natural, fits my hand much better, and I know that I won't be running out of batteries in any average day of shooting. It looks like it belongs on the camera, and alleviates the odd head tilt for portrait orientation photos. One minor compaliant that may or may not be related to the battery pack - the second time I used it my camera froze up. It has not happened since, and it's been nearly two months of 500 pictures per week since.

Because I have to juggle school and work in with my photography I don't always have time to sit around want wait for a battery to recharge, that's why I love this. Even if you plan on just using it with an EN-EL3e this is fantastic. And as well as the extreme length in battery life, you also add a more professional look to your camera. I would defaintly recommend this to anyone who is going to do the majority of their photography outside, where your away from any outlets.

Definitely need to purchase this. Upgrade to the EN-el4 batteries. You'll be glad you did. May cost a little more but if your purchasing the D700 it will be well worth it.

I had the grip on my D100 and my D200, loved them both. This grip is the best one of all. Higher quality, better fit and more features. I would highly recommend it as it adds balance and versatility to an already excellent camera, the Nikon D300.

The grip is very durable and when mounted on to D700, very secure with no move-around. The main body is constructed of metal material, the plastic parts are thick and seems durable, the af-focus control is definitely a plus and not seen in any previous grip offerings. The grip balances the camera better and enables 8fps shooting when en-el4a battery or AA batteries are used.

A bit on the pricey side.

Even though this battery pack adds a substantial amount of weight it greatly increases the camera's overall handling. It makes shooting in portrait mode so much more comfortable. Even in landscape mode the camera balance just feels more natural. My only concern is about the flimsy dial on the battery compartment door. I would advise caution about forcing it if it won't turn easily.

There are a lot of things to love about this piece of equipment, and one minor annoyance. The shutter button is very fast on this device. The multi-selector feels a great deal different than the one on the camera, but still functions well.

What I like best is the fact that you don't have to take off the battery compartment on the D300 to use the device. You leave a battery in the D300 and put one in the handgrip. The one in the handgrip is exhausted before the one in the body is used, according to the manual.

I've been able to shoot all day long with the battery and I have had no problems with it at all.

I bought this so I could use AA's in a pinch and last longer without a recharge (I use the D300 onboard flash in commander mode quite a lot and an older AFD lens with heavy glass to move). I assumed the camera would get a lot more bulky but actually the whole handling becomes much easier. My hands shake a lot and this grip helps me even in landscape as the load is spread right across to my little finger and wider across the whole of my palm. In portrait, functions, controls and ability to adjust focus points are excellent too. The faster fps is not too important to me.

Well thought through accessory for extra power of longer duration. Particularly useful when paired with an EN-EL4a battery and the BL-3 battery cover. This combination is perfect for people who own a D2Xs and/or a D3 and want to use common batteries across all bodies, with common chargers. Pitty the same approach was not made with the D200.

Will hold a EL3 battery [$]but if you want the 8fps on the D300, you'll need the EL4 battery [$]an expensive charger for it, and the BL-3 battery cover [$]Best result using this grip is to use another EL3. If you want the 8fps, use 8 AA batteries and not have to use the costly EL4 and charger.
