Comments about Nikon Nikon MB-D200, Multi-Function Vertical Grip / Battery Holder for the D-200 Digital Camera. (Batteries Not included):
This one is a replacement. Last one broke when I dropped camera. It took the fall instead of the body. Like the feel on the camera. The extra vertical shutter release is important during sporting events. Battery door flimsy. Had trouble with older unit and power contacts. During image transfer to card, power would cut out, corrupting file. Replacement has no problems. Love the extra battery capacity during all day shoots.

We use it daily, it a very handy item, it is very helpful to have the grip on the Camera!

Comments about Nikon Nikon MB-D200, Multi-Function Vertical Grip / Battery Holder for the D-200 Digital Camera. (Batteries Not included):
Great grip for holding on to the camera. Not of the quality of the camera. Retainer springs holding the batteries in the battery compartment are cheap plastic and they break easily. An additional 20 cents on the springs would have made a huge difference in the quality.

Comments about Nikon Nikon MB-D200, Multi-Function Vertical Grip / Battery Holder for the D-200 Digital Camera. (Batteries Not included):
The MB200 is really very comfortable. I use the camera mainly for my job of sport journalist. I photograph motorbikes and use freequently long and heavy lens. The battery pack in very useful for holding the camera in vertical position.
But with two batteries, the flash and a pro-zoom lens the camera becomes really big and heavy. I usually keep only a battery in the "A" slot, that's the one on the left hand,

Comments about Nikon Nikon MB-D200, Multi-Function Vertical Grip / Battery Holder for the D-200 Digital Camera. (Batteries Not included):
Exactly what I expected. The grip adds quite a bit of heft to the camera, and i could now see camera getting a little heavy hanging around my neck all day while traveling. (I won't have a dead battery though!)
I am concerned about the battery door latch. I have read here that it has failed over time for some users, I'm just going to be super careful every time I open and close it.
Makes the camera feel really "beefy"!

There is a great deal of comfort knowing that you have twice the battery power available when you are shooting. You don't have to worry about having your single battery completely run down when there is a second battery already available in the camera.

Well lets just say for the professioonal the grip is a must have. Teh down fall is you can experience a power delay when shutting off the cammera after ahile of usage. Sending one in to be fixed will cost you just as much as buying a newer one. The clip are poorly designed as well. If any on e knows of a better more reliable grip for the d200 please tell all....

Comments about Nikon Nikon MB-D200, Multi-Function Vertical Grip / Battery Holder for the D-200 Digital Camera. (Batteries Not included):
It's hard to say how this should be rated. It's a great addition to the camera, it works well, feels great, looks great, very functional, and an essential part of the camera. The camera looks, feels and acts like a full professional camera with this device. However...The battery clips break VERY easily! They are thin and fragile pieces of plastic. The grip costs [$], the clips cost 5 cents, but if the clip breaks, it will cost as much as you paid for the grip to get the clip replaced - NO EXAGGERATION! Look at the other reviews on the internet for others who have had the very same problem. There are no instructions anywhere about how to disassemble the device. You're on your own. I ordered replacement clips from Nikon to try and replace the clip myself, and it's impossible! I completely ruined the grip and it is worthless now. However I'm no worse off than if I had sent in the grip for a repair. I might as well buy a new grip[...]. This is a very sad situation. A 5 cent clip makes a [$]device worthless. But what option do you have? You must have the grip. So, make sure you start saving for a new grip as soon as you buy this accessory. Mine lasted about 1 year before the clip broke. Other owners had theirs break much sooner. I assume that some others have not had this problem at all. Good luck!

I like the product and rely on it, but it is poorly designed with plastic clips holding the batteries in place. They both broke after a few months. Not to be used in a hurry. But, there are no other options.

Comments about Nikon Nikon MB-D200, Multi-Function Vertical Grip / Battery Holder for the D-200 Digital Camera. (Batteries Not included):
I use this when I need extended shooting time. I don't have to pay as much attention to battery drain, turning camera off between shots. The D200 is a big drain on batteries. It's too heavy to leave on the camera all the time. Sometimes I like to travel a bit lighter.

Comments about Nikon Nikon MB-D200, Multi-Function Vertical Grip / Battery Holder for the D-200 Digital Camera. (Batteries Not included):
This is my second MB-200 Grip. The first one still works, but was broked during a shoot, I accidently dropped the camera and broke a chip off exposing the circuit board. It allows the shooter to change from horizontal to vertical with comfort and ease. This is a must have accessory for serious Hobbists/ Enthusiast/ Professional. I always recommend it to those who want to buy the D200, as well as the one for the new D-300.

Comments about Nikon Nikon MB-D200, Multi-Function Vertical Grip / Battery Holder for the D-200 Digital Camera. (Batteries Not included):
If you think the D200 is too big and heavy this is not for you. If you want the feel of a "pro camera", or are using any of Nikons VR lenses, then this is a must. I use the 70-200 VR on my D200 and the VR function will really drain the batteries, so the addition of this and a 2nd EN-EL3e battery lets me continue to take shots without having to change batteries. The shutter release on the pack is also a nice feature when taking verticle shots. The cost does not come close to the advantage that this unit adds!

Comments about Nikon Nikon MB-D200, Multi-Function Vertical Grip / Battery Holder for the D-200 Digital Camera. (Batteries Not included):
This grip is great when you have a telephoto lens on the camera. It gives you more grip area and makes it easier to hold onto the camera. It is also great when taking a large number of photos in one day with the use of the extra battery. Also a benifit is if you were to exhaust both batteries you can use AA batteries in the extra holder. When useing a smaller lens like the 28-105 I take the grip off.
Comments about Nikon Nikon MB-D200, Multi-Function Vertical Grip / Battery Holder for the D-200 Digital Camera. (Batteries Not included):
I only say the size increase is a con because my D200 is now a tight fit in my everyday walk around bag. This grip is a must have in my opinion.

Comments about Nikon Nikon MB-D200, Multi-Function Vertical Grip / Battery Holder for the D-200 Digital Camera. (Batteries Not included):
I picked up the D200 along with the MB-D200 grip a week or so ago. All I can say is, what a disappointment. This thing is ridiculously bulky, and not at all what I was expecting.
The design is poorly thought out. The front edge of the grip is too thick and squared off, no doubt to make room for the batteries, which makes it a bit difficult and uncomfortable to get your fingers around, and I don't have small hands. I was expecting something of higher quality, and more like what I'd grown accustomed to with the F100 and the MB-15.
When holding the camera by the vertical grip, it just doesn't feel comfortable. There's really no provision on the bottom of the D200 for your thumb to rest or fit, and it feels a little like I don't have a good grip on the camera.
I'm typically thoroughly pleased with Nikon ergonomics, which has been the main reason I haven't switched over to Canon, but I feel let down with this poorly thought out add on.

Comments about Nikon Nikon MB-D200, Multi-Function Vertical Grip / Battery Holder for the D-200 Digital Camera. (Batteries Not included):
The D200 is a nice camera, great value for the money. Its battery life is AWFUL for my uses. I shoot theatre productions, usually about 600-800+ shots per performance. I have a D2X and was used to its superlong battery life. I own a second battery for the D2X, but never replaced the battery on the same job...NEVER. Bought the D200 as a backup, and quickly found I needed to change batteries sometime at EVERY shoot. Not acceptable, as a performance is like a sporting event...no real down time. OK, bought the MB when it came out, and had 2 cells in it. I now don't have to change batteries, problem solved...BUT the D200 is now heavier and definitely clumsier than the D2X...and the vertical grip does not allow me to reach the focus area control. They needed to put a focus area control on the vertical grip like Canon did to make it truly usable and convenient in the vertical position. Also the build quality is no where near as nice as the D200 itself, and that is disappointing.

Comments about Nikon Nikon MB-D200, Multi-Function Vertical Grip / Battery Holder for the D-200 Digital Camera. (Batteries Not included):
This grip is great!! It adds the extra battery that you really need for weddings and events. I no longer have to worry about running out of charge at the most inopportune time.
It also improves camera handling when using heavy lenses like the 17-55 f/2.8 DX or the 70-200 f/ 2.8 VR.
I like the vertical shutter release but have never touched the thumbwheel.
One minor annoyance is that the multi-function switch on the back of the camera is hard to reach when using the vertical orientation.
I have read about the breakage problems that others have had with the plastic clips that hold the batteries in, so I have been extra careful when changing batteries, and neither one has broken yet (about six months and 25 weddings/parties).
I remove the grip when I mount the camera on a tripod, as there is too much sag and wobble with the grip installed. Of course, it's not neccessary when the lens has it's own tripod mount, like with the 70-200 f/2.8 VR.
Comments about Nikon Nikon MB-D200, Multi-Function Vertical Grip / Battery Holder for the D-200 Digital Camera. (Batteries Not included):
First of all, if you wanted minimum weight, you would not be buying the D200. OK, so you've made the commitment to one of the greatest digital cameras. Now add the exceptional battery life of two batteries (yes, I have four) and enjoy (albeit a bit heavier) better balance. You can still hang it by two or three fingers, but you add the thumb wheels functionality for portraits.

Comments about Nikon Nikon MB-D200, Multi-Function Vertical Grip / Battery Holder for the D-200 Digital Camera. (Batteries Not included):
The MB-D200 makes my D200 feel like a professional camera. However, it may be too bulky and weighty for some. If you like the feel of a big massive camera, and if you have large hands, I'd recommend it. The only drawback is not completely with the MB-D200 but with the combination of the unit with the camera. When taking pictures vertically the thumb on my trigger finger hand cannot reach the 11 area focus meter wheel. However, it is really nice to have the MB-D200, which was not available for the D70, making the D70 feel like a toy compared to the D200 with the MB-D200 attached

I like the look and the feel of this battery pack. The controls work well shooting vertical. Cool stuff I say!
Comments about Nikon Nikon MB-D200, Multi-Function Vertical Grip / Battery Holder for the D-200 Digital Camera. (Batteries Not included):
The MB-D200 Battery Holder will give you the piece of mind of making that shot when you are somewhere where recharging or changing batteries is not possible. However, it does change the feel of the D-200, and it takes time to adjust to where all the controls are. The space that it takes in a smaller photo bag is a problem. My small Domke camera bag is not adquate in depth with the MB-D200 attached to the camera. Overall the MB-D200 works very well, and I have not encountered any problems with the operation of this device.

Comments about Nikon Nikon MB-D200, Multi-Function Vertical Grip / Battery Holder for the D-200 Digital Camera. (Batteries Not included):
It doubles your battery life, obviously because it can hold two batteries, which is great for this power hog. Also it functions as a vertical grip so you can turn your camera and comfortably take vertical pictures. It does add some bulk to the weight, but the whole thing is very well thought out so you can easily switch from the internal single battery to the double grip and back fairly effortlessly. A much needed feature makes your D-200 feel more like a nikon Pro level camera

Comments about Nikon Nikon MB-D200, Multi-Function Vertical Grip / Battery Holder for the D-200 Digital Camera. (Batteries Not included):
With large capability of current generation battery, the this vertical grip doesn't provider longer operating time. It does provide a balanced weight for the existing body and convenience in vertical position. I have even once carried it when traveling but more preferably, just use the excellent D200 to capture the moment without the bulky body.
Comments about Nikon Nikon MB-D200, Multi-Function Vertical Grip / Battery Holder for the D-200 Digital Camera. (Batteries Not included):
Great addition to my D200. I was concerned about adding the extra size of the pack, and the weight of the additional battery. It is worth the weight; size is only a minor irritant. My Lowepro case is barely deep enough for the body with the powerpack mounted. Very convenient not having to worry at all about battery life on a shoot. Great that it will also work with a single battery installed. The vertical button has an on-off switch but when on I find that I frequently push it accidentally when holding the camera horizontally at odd angles such as shooting out car windows, but no big deal. Great accessory.
Comments about Nikon Nikon MB-D200, Multi-Function Vertical Grip / Battery Holder for the D-200 Digital Camera. (Batteries Not included):
It is the best piece of equipment for the Nikon D200 I have found with 2 exceptions. I don't like that it is made of plastic. I would have paid more to have it a durable as the camera. And second, it puts my right hand 2 inches above my eye to get the viewfinder up to my eye. The hand position on the grip should have been set lower so the hand and eye would be at the same level. Even with these two poor choices by Nikon, I still wouldn't give mine up.
Comments about Nikon Nikon MB-D200, Multi-Function Vertical Grip / Battery Holder for the D-200 Digital Camera. (Batteries Not included):
Twice the battery power and I don't have to reach around the top of the camera for portraits. It's soooo nice. An unexpected plus is when you show up to shoot a wedding, it looks like the $5000 pro version. The camera may not make much of a difference to a good photographer but unfortunately we have to make an impression to the masses. This does it and it provides great, usable functions.
Comments about Nikon Nikon MB-D200, Multi-Function Vertical Grip / Battery Holder for the D-200 Digital Camera. (Batteries Not included):
Very good to have without worrying about battery life. Is a must have if you have the VR (vibration reduction)like the 18-200VR lenses that consumes alot of power. Integrates perfectly with the Nikon D200 in which one of the menu items allows you to check each of the batteries and gives you a percentage left and how many recharges left in the batteries. It is amazingly light weight and definitely gives the D200 a "Pro" look and feel. Additional buttons allow the shooter to take vertical shots easily. The Only con is that it makes the whole camera "bigger" and doesn't always fit the smaller camera bags like the hip huggers.
Comments about Nikon Nikon MB-D200, Multi-Function Vertical Grip / Battery Holder for the D-200 Digital Camera. (Batteries Not included):
The MB-D200 works well for what I need to do shooting nearly 2,000 images at a time. It is lightweight and easily intergrates with my D200.

Comments about Nikon Nikon MB-D200, Multi-Function Vertical Grip / Battery Holder for the D-200 Digital Camera. (Batteries Not included):
Overall this battery pack adds great feel and ballance to the D200. It also adds the versitility of AA batteries which are available anywhere..
The only drawback I have found is that there is no verticle/horizontal sensor for the added shutter release, the added shutter release will fire in the horizontal position.

Comments about Nikon Nikon MB-D200, Multi-Function Vertical Grip / Battery Holder for the D-200 Digital Camera. (Batteries Not included):
I have read many reviews about this product saying that it was flimsy, it doesn't fit snug, and the plastic construction was a bad idea on Nikon's part. I bought this mainly to give me a better handle on the camera because I have somewhat large hands. I beg to differ on all accounts relating to any negative comment about this product. The plastic does not add much weight to the somewhat heavy D200. The grip attaches firmly to the base of the D200 via tripod mounting socket, and if tightened enough, does not move a millimeter. The extra grip room for makes me feel I can better steady the camera and overall provides a very tough look to an already outstanding camera.
