If you have any of the Ricoh cameras that use this battery, you'll want another for a spare, and I know of no alternative. The battery does what a good battery should: power the camera adequately for a lot of shots, then allow a reasonably short recharge period with a lightweight charger. You'll want to keep it in a container large enough to catch your eye when you are looking for that spare battery. This little black square can seem mighty elusive! The charger, which is compact and doesn't have a long inconvenient wire to manage, is probably a good choice for storage as well.
