I don't have to tell you about all the great features of the 50D. Just be aware of the one feature it doesn't have is video recording. Not too big a deal for me since I really don't buy a camera like this for video.

I bought this camera near the end of it's product cycle as rumors of the impending 60D abound. I saved over $500 off the price of this camera vs when it was first introduced.

I also bought the kit box with 28-135 IS lens. I intended to sell the lens, thus lowering the price of my 50d by about another $100.

Bottom line is the 50D is a great camera. 15mp is plenty resolution. Really anything more than 15mp is surpassing the resolution capabilities of current lenses anyway, so higher resolution will actually not result in sharper pictures when it gets past this point.

You won't regret getting a 50D.

I read through the instruction manual, and have not really had to go back to it, as everything is user friendly. I would definitely recommend the camera and Adorama to anyone. I spent the extra money to buy a couple of Lexar Compact Flash memory cards and have no complaints about anything.

I really like it. It's easy to use and would be very worthy if you can used all function it has. Fast focus and high ISO, then I never miss the best shot.

This camera is definitely a step up from any fixed lens camera, but it also is a step up from it's lower line of DSLR's such as the xSi & t1i without paying a substantial amount more of money. I'm a still picture photographer and not a videographer so I also selected this camera because it did NOT have video capability. Video takes a different mind set and didn't want it getting in the way of my stills. This camera also does not come with the price tag of the higher end cameras which were out of range for the budget I had selected to make a DSLR purchase. Remember that the quality of your lenses will also make or break your image quality, so I also selected this camera so I could upgrade to two medium quality lenses. "L" type will have to wait for now

I use this Camera to take both still and Action Photos. I often take photos and then print them out directly to the printer for sale on the spot and the quality is great even without touch up with photoshop. The Photo Quality is amazing and the Camera is very easy to operate. I have tried testing the Camera taking several different types of Photos and have not come across any problems yet.

I've been waiting for a couple of years to pick up a DSLR. I decided on the Canon 50D and it has not let me down. It has been great. I've only had it 3 weeks but so I'm still learning all the settings to get the effect I want. But I'd buy this camera again in a heart beat. Very satisfied and pleased.

I like the size of the LCD I found it so easy to see and clear. I also like the ease at changing settings. The IS lens has added to the quality of my photos tremendously. Over all I really like this camera.

I moved up from a Canon Rebel XTI. As much as I liked my Rebel,the 50D is so beyond my expectations. The features are extremely comfortable to read and use. I actually found it easier to learn to use than the Rebel. For anyone who wants all the featurs for all situations of non-pro camera buffs,I think this is it!

I use my new Canon 50d from Adorama mainly for candid portrait work and wildlife photography. The 28-135mm is an awesome workhorse lens and combined with my 500mm lens I'm a happy camper when I go out on shooting forays. The camera is heavier than I have been used to but very manageable and looking to get a good tripod and ball head mount from Adorama as soon as possible. [...]

I'm off to Africa for five weeks so I got the 50D and the 100-400mm L series lens to bring in the wildlife. Both are good stuff. Very.

This is my first DSLR combo and I needed a lesson from a pro just to get started. But after a single session, I can play with almost every button and dial, and now, it's easy to use. The camera is incredibly sophisticated.

There are many features and settings tht I will NEVER use and that is my only (very minor) complaint. A somewhat simpler camera might have been a couple hundred bucks cheaper. But that's probably just me.

I've practiced on local wildlife and the camera performs as advertised. Very good stuff.

As much as I used and enjoy a Canon KissX (Xti), the 50D has enough more refinements to allow faster easier on the fly adjustments.
I have been happy with the picture quality of the KissX, the 50D seems even better.
Another plus is that my wife is beginning to enjoy getting beyond a point and shoot camera, so in taking over the KissX for her own use, we are able to share lenses, filters, and cards, etc.

Great camera with an ok lens. Zoom on the lens moves on its own if the lens is pointed up or down. Other than that, no complaints.

I use the camera with Canon's new 18-200 ef-s lens. I like it much better than the 28 to 135 because, with the 1.6 crop factor, the 28-135 is on the long end of a normal zoom. Also, I found the 18-200 has more of an IS benefit than the 28-135. The other lenses I use provide good focal-length coverage (Canon 10-22 and Canon 100-300L) even with the 1.6 crop factor. The 3" LCD display is a really big deal compared to the EOS 20d's display. I have had the camera less than one month, so these are my preliminary impressions.

This is my 2 week initial quick review. I received my EOS 50D kit on October 9th and find the camera to be just what I had expected, except… One of the flaws I’ve found so far is that the 28-135mm IS lens doesn’t have a ‘lock’ function to prevent the lens from extending on its own when the camera points downward. My Canon 75-300mm IS lens does have this function and I don’t understand why Canon left it off the 50D kit lens. The other flaw is the battery consumption. When taking photo’s with the IS function on, the battery is consumed very quickly, and I’m using a 2000 mAh Li-Ion battery that lasted much longer in my EOS 30D. I’m considering the battery grip, but that will add unwanted weight. On the positive side, the 3” LCD is great in both it's quality and size. I’ve installed the Canon “EF-D” focusing screen and really like the way it quickly frames my shots
