I bought this camera being told that it would be as good as new since it was a Canon Refurbished model. It is like new, there is absolutely no difference. I could not be happier with this camera. The image quality is amazing and so is the speed.

Upgraded from a 40D. The micro-adjust fueled the desire. Actually see more chroma noise with this over the 40D, but with some real use have been very happy. Love the screen, make use of the micro-adjust and the extra pixels are nice too. The refurb was in EXCELLENT condition. The 40D was a refurb from Adorama as well which was also in EXCELLENT condition.

Amazing tool. My only request would be for a full-frame sensor at the same price!

Replaced my 20d with this and haven't had too much time to play with it but love the big LCD screen.

Comments about Canon Canon EOS 50D Digital SLR Camera Body Kit, Black - Refurbished:
Finally put my 30D to the pasture. It was a great work horse and loved it to death. I was in the market to buy another camera, I put all my photoshoot earnings into L glasses (3 of them) so I had just enough to buy another camera now or wait several more shoots to get a FF. After 6mos of researching I decided to go with the 50D. I was short $200 on buying the 50D, but found Adorama had refurbs for the price on what I had. I was little leary since it was a refurb, but I did additional research and Adorama had a really good reputation with refurbs. I decided to go ahead and get it. The item came as described. A canon box with everything there you would find normally with a new 50D box. Close inspection of the camera, it looked brand new! no marks or signs of use. The firmware was 1.0.6 and I updated to 1.0.7 immediately. Everything felt and looked as it should be. The LCD is breath taking and the performance with my L glasses is phenomenal! The 30d was a great performer, but the 50D runs circle around it. The processor with L glass is blistering fast and I never had to anticipate. Image wise, I cant really comment on non L glass on it, but with L glass, it's breath taking. The new menu layout is very intuitive if you are coming from previous XXD models. LCD screen is HD quality and you'll just be floored by it. Now, just about every review states the one blemish about the 50D is ISO noise and lack of movie mode. Personally, I could care less about movie mode. It eats up battery, memory hog on your CF card, no auto focus and it's a gimmick. I buy a camera to take pictures not video. now lets talk about the ISO noise. I've been shooting low light just to see how bad it is. It's not that bad. compared with my 30D, I would say they are just about even all they way up to 800 with 50D being the better noise handling. at 1600, noise on the 50D is slighty noisy (very slightly). My bud has the 40D and I compared with his and honestly image noise appeared to be the same at 1600 and 3200, but the 40D did eek out the win by just a smidge but suffered softness due to the NR applied but the 50D won on sharpness. So my conclusion is, all these pro reviews you see is completely bias. Depending on the setting, day/night, indoor, outdoor and lens they use, you'll see different comments. If you really want to see it in real world and how it handles with your glasses, go and test one out and compare it yourself and dont be afraid of refurbs from adorama...they are just as good or better as new in the box camera. Just from my personal comment with 50D combined with L glasses, you will be amazed with image quality. The refurb 50D quickly made me forget my beloved 30D and amazed how much canon has come in just 3 years from the 30D.

What a great upgrade from my Rebel XSi!! It has a much sturdier, "pro" feel to it, and although it's a bit heavier, it is not cumbersome at all. In fact it feels quite comfortable and is easy to use. Menus are easy to navigate and changing settings quickly is a snap. Highly recommended!!

This is my first SLR so my reference is quite limited. I decided to take the plunge and invest is quality lenses. The camera has performed flawlessly for fast action sports like mountain biking in the dimly lit forests of the NW. Also quite durable as I actually ride with the camera and gear. Yes it is heavy but would you rather have it break. Everything comes at a price so you must prioritize.

Comments about Canon Canon EOS 50D Digital SLR Camera Body Kit, Black - Refurbished:
I bought this body for one specific use: wildlife photography using Canon primes at 300 and 400mm. For that purpose it's excellent (and I use this body for only that purpose). The noise is significant beyond 800ISO (expected), but can be removed via processing. The 15 meg subs stand up to cropping nicely. The shutter release is quieter than the 40D and the LCD is vastly improved. The camera controls are much like the 40D and 5D2.
Canon refurbs have had good reviews from others (i.e., better than new because of the bench work), and I've no reason to doubt those reviews after approximately 2000 images. There is no factory warranty, however.

Comments about Canon Canon EOS 50D Digital SLR Camera Body Kit, Black - Refurbished:
While there are plenty of reviews about the 50D I thought instead I'd comment on buying a refurbished unit.
I finally decided to bite the bullet and replace my original Digital Rebel, and the 50D was it. As I checked various retailer's websites I saw that Adorama had refurbised units for considerabley less $$ than new.
Having been burned once before by buying a supposedly refurbished high-end radio (not through Adorama) I was a bit hesitant. But after reading a number of positive comments in the Canon forum on photography-on-the-net about buying Canon refurbished items through Adorama I decided to go the refurbished route to save $$. Other than the white Canon refurbish box and small "Refurbished" sticker on the bottom of the camera it appeared brand new.
I could find no marks, scratches, or any sign of the camera having been used. Using one of the freely available utilities on the web I checked the shutter count - 181 clicks. Maybe a demo, maybe a return, maybe pulled off the production line for quality control - who knows? I've had it now for about a week and found no problems whatsoever.
The big difference with purchasing a refurbished unit is that there is no Canon warranty. So in addition to what Adorama provides I purchased an extended 2-year Mack warranty (which I would have done even if buying a new unit).
I'm very pleased so far with camera itself and the decision to purchase a refurbished unit through Adorama.
