I bought this mainly for wedding photography, and I love how great the higher ISOs are. My last camera had significant noise by 800 ISO, I can take completey usable pictures at 5400 that only need a little noise reduction. I also love the size of LCD screen and the video function. I haven't used the video a lot yet, but it opens up the possibilities for a lot of other things I can do for wedding or portraits. It's a pricey camera, but well worth it!

This is almost a perfect camera. I think live view is awesome--I shoot a lot of wildflowers and live view allows exact focus plus the ability to see the histogram before the shot. The only thing this camera lacks is a tilting LCD screen which would be a great help for wildflower shots near ground level.

I upgraded from a 30D and am sorry that I waited so long! I love this camera! The ISO capabilities are fabulous for lower light situations!

Why in the world would I NOT buy this camera refurbished?! It saved me a few hundred dollars and it was brand new! Its like buy a used car with 100 miles on it! Love my mark 2! Went pro and upgraded and have been so pleased with the results. So has everyone else. Do yourself a favor and pair this with one of canons great prime lenses!!

I procrastinated buying this camera body for a year and a half. I had the Canon 40D, then the 5D, and finally traded my 5D for the MarkII. I'm SO GLAD i did it! It blows the other cameras away. The ISO clarity even at 1600 is impressive. I use it a ton for babies & children, where natural light is a must for me. The color quality is amazing. Even on the LCD screen, the images look great. I haven't figured out the movie settings yet but mainly wanted it for ISO capability & larger image sensor & LCD screen than my 5d. ONLY COMPLAINT: the click of the shutter sounds SO CHEAP! I thought it was broken at first till I read reviews on other photographers who described the "clunky loud" click of the shutter. Oh well...Canon should work on this for the next one but otherwise, I'm SO GLAD i bought it & only wish I'd just bought it last year as the price never really dropped. I use it with my Canon 70-200mm L lens & also with a Sigma 28-70 2.4. It perfoms best with the L lens for sure over the cheaper Sigma.

I was a originally hesitant to buy a "refurbished" 5D but went ahead after reading some reviews here. Now that it's in hand, it appears as good as new. I spoke to a Canon tech support guy just now regarding a simple usage question and he confirmed that a factory refurbished Canon camera sold through an authorized distributor generally is a unit that has come back from a distribution partner for some reason. It then goes through any necessary repair and the same sort of quality inspections as a "new" product. [...]

Speed set aside, this camera is amazing. The 1080p is beautiful and crisp and pictures taken at ISO 6400 are printable if exposed properly (and some color noise reduction)

It also makes hand held night photography a possibility and indoor events a breeze. I couldn't be happier with this camera other than if auto focus was added to video.

The 5D2 refurb looked amazing -- not a scratch or blemish. It even smelled like a brand-new unit! The body was immaculately packed; manuals, software, and accessories (strap, battery, charger, etc.) were fresh and unread/unused.

I was doing wonderfully with it and was in heaven from the great deal that I got this refurb for...until I used it in my first studio shoot about a week into my proud ownership.

The hotshoe was defective. Only 60% of my shots triggered my strobes. I put it through a crucible of tests: Pocketwizards, CyberSyncs, Skyports, Cactus, a 550EX (on-shoe), 420EX, 580EX...all producing the same results. I exchanged batteries in each of these speedlights and transmitters and receivers; yet, still only 60% of my shots worked.

I returned this 5D2 refurb with the greatest of disappointment and purchased a brand-new 5D2 about a week later, and voila...no strobe problems.

I think I was an odd duck in this case, as most refurbs I have purchased in the past have been excellent, fully-functional, working products. Too bad in this case!

This is a good deal. Just be sure to cross your fingers...and do extensive testing as soon as you receive to make sure you got a good product!

So glad I went with the refurbished. EXACTLY the same as brand new. Love the full-frame. Just upgraded from my XTi, easy switch. This is a beast compared to the XTI, but not heavy. Love the high ISO, couldnt be happier with my purchase!!!

I meanly use it for Studio,Landscape , Macro, and Food photography, I canat belive my eyes , how much I crop from the photograph and still be sharp and excelent quality ,slow FPS

If you want a 5D Mark II, get one of these refurbished ones instead of a new one. Besides the white refurbished Canon box, I can't tell any difference between new.

I'm amazed at how light this camera feels even compared to the original 5D. I think I need to add the battery grip just so it doesn't float away like a balloon when I let go. I think this is why some people think the build quality isn't as good as say a D700, but as I looked it over and used it for a few days I've come to really appreciate not having to lug a brick around.

The auto-adjusting brightness of the LCD and the layout of the menu system is amazing and there are several ways to adjust different settings depending on your style. I LOVE the rear joystick button that with one push turns the LCD into a easy-to-use control panel to change all the current settings (WB, exposure comp, shutter, aperture, ISO, etc) from a SINGLE PLACE. I've used a D90 on several paid photo shoots, and I have to say the 5DMKII's way of doing things is easier for me to understand and use. Of course no modern digital SLR is completely intuitive - including this one - but I only had to spend 30 minutes with the manual to get a handle on it.

Everything else about this camera has been reviewed by others at length. Get one and enjoy it!

First off, have to love the refurbs...

Second, great camera. I bought this to be my new main camera for portraits and weddings, relegating my old 5D to backup. Definately an improvement over the 5D. Compared to the various other Canon bodies I have owned, my classic 5D seems to look underexposed compared to the meeter and LCD preview/histograms. The 5Dii seems to be in line more with what I'm used to with Canon.

The shutter "seems" louder than my 5D and not quite as "crisp". Nothing that affects the quality of the camera or image, just something I noted as soon as I began using it.

I'm quite satisfied with the quality of images I'm getting from the camera and it has quickly become my main body.

On the other hand....

I am apparently a photographer who doesn't "get" video... I've tried (and will continue to) to get better at video, but I'm just not there yet.

The autofocus system doesn't lock as fast as a 1DIII, nor can it follow action at the level of a 1D series body, but it works well and is very accurate at all 9 selectable points.
