I bought the refurb model from Adorama b/c I knew Adorama to be a reputable dealer. I know Canon makes great products so I didn't hesitate much to buy the Canon 7d refurb. It was significantly lower in price and it came to me in pristine condition...not a single fingerprint or mark on it anywhere. I will definitely be buying refurb models of Canon from Adorama again!

Comments about Canon Canon EOS-7D Digital SLR Camera Body, 18.Megapixels - Refurbished:

I have a 5D (orgininal) and this camera. When I'm having to capture erratic subjects (toddlers) in lower light situations, this camera is indispensable. Its image quality is Top-notch. The high-resolution sensor demands high quality glass, though, so stick with Canon L glass if you can afford it. Otherwise the 50mm 1.4 and 85 1.8 on this thing are great.

Comments about Canon Canon EOS-7D Digital SLR Camera Body, 18.Megapixels - Refurbished:

I was hesitant on buying a refurbished product, but item was as good as new. I would buy a refurbished camera from Adorama again. The 7d is a great camera. I upgraded to it from a 40d. New on/off switch and cf card door has a spring that keeps it open when unlocked - those were two highlights I liked. Also, the video feature is easier to use than the 5d. Image quality is great! The only con to me is that it's not full-frame.

Comments about Canon Canon EOS-7D Digital SLR Camera Body, 18.Megapixels - Refurbished:

I bought an Canon eos 60D from Adorama, i loved it, images are superb, the swivel LCD is awesome and is a big plus for some people but i am not really in Videography so i didn't really get it, ergonomically it's awesome, nicely sized compared to a 550D but it's a downgrade from the 50D.
The only thing i don't get on the 60D is the construction, the polycarbonate body make the hardware too light and looks cheap and there is no weather sealing but still a great camera.
One day i went back to adorama to purchase some lenses, i saw a 5D Mark II and the 7D, i tried each of them, i was too happy because of the rugged bodies specially the 7D, is even more rugged and looks stronger than the 5D mark II, I said look i am going to get one of these too to complete my 60D, at home i said i am into photography but i don't have to use two cameras, which one i choose first between 7D and 5D Mark II, i love shooting sport and action, i like wildlife photography, landscape, 5D Mark II doesn't have built in flash, but it's full frame, i don't care about full frame, it's 3.9 frames per second and it's not my type, wooww 7D is 8frames per second that's what iam talking about, i love traveling to my hometown in west side Africa and 7D is a super weather sealing (Hot, cold, snow, rain etc...) am not into Videography but the 7d is superb about video HD, i said let me pack back my 60d and trade it and get the 7D, it's really my type of photography, it's one of the best canon eos about size and ergonomically and now there is no camera from another brand who can beat the canon eos 7D.

Thanks for reading

This is a great camera. It nicely straddles the consumer and professional worlds with great performance, reliability and a myriad of features. It is also built like a tank.

My advice to anyone moving up to the 7D from an older or less expensive Canon model with less control: don't sweat learning all of the features and controls immediately, just go out and shoot! You will be rewarded with wonderful shots with very little effort. The better you become as a photographer, the more you will appreciate the quality and capability of this camera.

Just received my refurbished 7D and found it a little daunting at first, then I decided to forget all of the many features and simply shoot with it. This is a great piece of equipment. I had no hesitation in buying a refurbished model (this is my second one) and this one worked perfectly out of the box. A great value on a great camera.

A word of advice: if you are working with Lightroom 2.3 or older, you will need to get the 2.6 upgrade(free download) or the newest 3.0 to load photos directly into the program.

Worth the price to upgrade from the 60D because of the metal body and better gaskets. 8 FPS is tremendous. I am still learning the video portions, but good so far. The improved ISO and noise reduction settings are easy to use.

Comments about Canon Canon EOS-7D Digital SLR Camera Body, 18.Megapixels - Refurbished:

I am a great fan of the 7D. I own 3 already, and needed a fourth for an important wildlife shoot starting tomorrow. This is not a review of the 7D itself, but the REFURBISHED unit I ordered from Adorama a week ago. I have bought units refurbished by Canon Japan in the past, and based on favourable reviews below, I expected a similar experience. But, I was wrong.[...]The body was not "perfect", as others described, but was certainly very good - there were slight rubbing marks, and tell-tale marks where the tripod mounts, but I was perfectly happy, for a product that is sold as refurbished.Next, I noticed that the firmware is about 9 months out of date, and I found this to be tacky.Lastly, I found that the main control dial next to the shutter speed did not work. Although it looks and feels fine mechanically, it does not do anything. No, this is not a firmware setting - I checked the manual, the Internet and the other 3 7D's that I know well. You can disable the quick control dial, but the main dial should always be operational.I simply cannot believe it, as this clearly indicates that the camera was never tested before release. This is one of the important controls on the camera, and is not a "minor oversight" - it is equivalent to buying a factory refurbished vehicle and finding that it has no brakes. This is also not a fault of Adorama, as the box was sealed by Canon. It is a clear example of not testing the basic operation of the camera before release.I do live in third-world Africa, where service is often lacking (but wildlife photography opportinities are great :-) ), but I have worked in a refurbishing centre and am familiar with the procedures that are required by international standards. Canon USA do not meet them.

Canon 7d Highy Recommended!

Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

Comments about Canon Canon EOS-7D Digital SLR Camera Body, 18.Megapixels - Refurbished:

Just got my refurbished 7d yesterday. No problems whatsoever - seems to be brand new. It's [$] cheaper than the "new" models. A definite perk. I've already gone through a lot of tests, instruction manual in hand, and everything functions perfectly. I highly recommend this camera for anyone even remotely dedicated to photography. Only drawback is the crop sensor, which is noticeable on a 50mm lens. I suggest you purchase a 30mm to start. I've always been a manual focus kind of guy, but the AF options on this thing are seemingly endless. It's really, really sturdy and solid too. The battery lasts upwards of six hours, which is excellent. It's got a built in flash, tons of color & temperature, shutter, and ISO options, and it's pretty phenomenal in low-light. I am most impressed with the "movie-mode", which is amazing. I was debating a 35mm adapter for my XHA1, but the 7d is the superior option. It's cheaper than almost every 35mm adapter/rail/focus setup and there's definitely more functionality too. I wouldn't recommend you shoot a whole film with it, but on shots where DOF is key, it's perfect. [...] every cool thing you've seen or heard about the Canon 7d is true! Great camera.

I was hesitant to buy a refurb camera, but the refurb prices at Adorama (now $50 cheaper than when I bought it last week) are on par with used prices for the 7D and Adorama gives you a 1 year warranty. That's the slam-dunk for me! I received my camera last week and it has been a joy. 8FPS is incredible! I upgraded from a Canon Rebel T1i and the 7D feels more substantial and fits in my hands better. Every thing about it oozes a quality build. Even the mirror slap sounds much better and softer than my T1i. I'd highly recommend a refurb 7D from Adorama!

I assume not every REFURBISHed 7D are like mine. AF point in the middle section are fine. however my very right side of AF point is completely useless. It gives you right focus from the view finder, but the result image comes out completely out of focus. I don't know what to do. I bought it a month ago. I still have CANON 90 days warranty for refurbished item, and 1 year of adorama warranty. [...] Is this refurbished safe to buy? I don't know. At least my 50D and 7D refurbished experience were NOT very good... Would I recommand my friend? If he/she is my friend, I would not recommand. Adorama? I bought most of my equipment from Adorama. Now.. I don't feel very safe or reliable with Adorama. BTW just buy a new.. -_-;;

I don't think I could tell it from a brand new one and it works perfectly. Get the refurb!

Love the 7D! Be sure to understand how each of the AF modes operate or you will have a lot of out of focus shots in your first few sets! Also, video with full manual everything is much harder to master than I anticipated. Practice makes perfect.

The 7D feels like a huge step up from the 40D/50D while not completely breaking the bank. I'll be keeping this one a very long time.

I was already sold on the 7D, but was slightly anxious to see the refurbished version of the camera. The camera came with all the original packaging/software, in a "refurbished by Canon" box. There was not a single scratch on the body, and it seemed as good as new with a 20% reduction in price! I've been running the camera through its pace for the last 2 weeks, and a firmware update later, I am extremely happy with the refurbished version. A great deal overall.

Yes, for those of you wondering if you should get the refurbished 7D vs. a new one I say the only difference is you don't get the fancy Canon box...

Other than that it is just as good as a new one...You would never know it was a refurbished except that is has the refurb sticker. At a savings of $300 it's a steal!!!

Comments about Canon Canon EOS-7D Digital SLR Camera Body, 18.Megapixels - Refurbished:

I purchased the 7D primarily for it's video capabilities allowing me to condense my stills and video into 1 compact package. As a still camera, it's fantastic. 8fps bursts (with a fast CF) caard and great low light performance. The HD video is pretty amazing, though it can be noisy and aliased. With careful shooting this can be worked around. I wish it had better audio to go with it's video, and better video exposure tools. So far I'm very pleased.

I bought a refurbished 7D. Everything works as if new plus I saved $300.I bought it for wildlife photography. The big plus is the ability to shoot quality pic in low light. I do a lot of bear photography and during the summer they prefer to be in the shade. I looking forward to summer.

refurbished, but i couldn't even tell it was used...i upgaded from a 40D and the autofocus seems a little slower...also not crazy about the larger area that blinks in the viewfinder around the autofocus point when focus is achieved - in the 40D, it's just the red squares...overall, great camera and I'm glad i bought it.

Comments about Canon Canon EOS-7D Digital SLR Camera Body, 18.Megapixels - Refurbished:

This camera is a a huge step up over the 40D and 50D. Beyond the obvious -- better resolution, the ability to take 8 shots a second, full hi-def video, are a host of little things that make you a better photographer.

I love the fact that the viewfinder is bigger and the LCD is so high res. That means I can see the shots I want better -- and recognize bad shots before I download.

I'm also quite impressed at how the camera does in low light. I've been playing with hand-held street scenes after dark. I have to bump the ISO up to 2000-3200 to get the shot. There's definitely extra noise but that gets cleared up with Dfine and I have a usable picture.

Bottom line is my shot quality has gone up. The internal logic and extra focal points definitely help.

The camera isn't cheap but it's totally worth it for me in terms of ease of use and overall pleasure.

Comments about Canon Canon EOS-7D Digital SLR Camera Body, 18.Megapixels - Refurbished:

I just upgraded from my 40D.

The first time I turned on the camera, I knew I was happy. I'm generally not trustful of auto focus, but that may be changing now with the new system Canon has implemented here (and isn't even in the 5D MkII). Plus, the level on the screen, the clarity of the screen, the quality of the build and the photos...it's all good. It's still new, and there's lots I haven't challenged it with yet (high ISO, macro, video, etc.), but my first look and uses are extremely positive.

My only nitpicky complaint is one implementation of the level. I use Live View all the time, particularly to see the histogram before I shoot. However, to see the level, it turns all the other info off. Then I have to cycle around again in order to get the histogram back again. A bit of a pain. But if you don't use live view, just hit the info button, and you can see what you're shooting through the viewfinder (which is now 100% view!!! Great!), and the level appears on the back screen. And the viewfinder also has grids, which helps as well.

Love it!!!
