It is a great camera, but I think the automated feature doesn't seem to automatically pick the best modes necessarily. For the price it is a great camera. Do a lot of experimenting with it before you have to use it when it counts. However, this is good advice for ANY camera you buy!

This is marketed as a PHD by Canon, but offers picture quality that truly rivals pro-grade cameras. It also gives you considerable manual control, a 4X Zoom, and effective image stabilization.
It is considerably smaller and sleeker than earlier PowerShot models I have used, but still uses AA batteries. I use NiMH rechargeables, but can use ordianry alkalines in a pinch.
Recycle times are very fast unless the strobe is used.
Keep it in your shirt pocket even if you use an SLR. It will surprise you.
