I purchased this for my son to use as his first camera. Can't beat the price for a camera with these features. Not only would I reccomend to a friend, I already have.

My mom bought me this camera and I love it! We have put sound memos with many pictures of our pets and our family and friends. The red-eye correction (after the picture is taken) is really handy. My sister has an orange one and we are having a great time learning about the camera together.

I'm a big fan of the Powershot line, having moved here after several other brands. Background in serious 35 mm, medium & large format photography.

I got one each of the A470's for my two nine year old girls this year. This camera has a great picture for the price, the perfect balance of quality and price point. Not too many features to overwhelm beginners or those who just want to stick to point-and-shoot photography, but enough to interest the curious and satisfy the budding enthusiast. They're robust, high-quality, well designed cameras. Another hit in the Powershot line!

This is a good starter camera for our 13 year old grandson whose father is an expert photographer. The grandson will work on his boy scout photography badge with the advice of his father.
