We bought this camera for one of our sons (and the red version for the other).
With this camera, you're getting a great deal on everything you're paying for. You're not paying for a bunch of features you're not going to use. It's a great camera for a beginning photographer, and probably more than adequate for most casual photographers.
Some people might consider it a little chunky, but you're not paying for the additional costs of miniaturization.
I upgraded both cameras with 2GB SD cards and Duracell 2600 mAh rechargeable batteries, both nice features.
These cameras take great photos with great color, contrast and saturation. I'm very happy with them.
The only complaints I've read about these cameras are about things you're not paying for. If you can read the specs and understand them, you'll know what you're getting. If it's not what you want, don't buy it. They certainly can't compete with any DSLR, but they don't claim to be that, either.
