Comments about Canon Canon Powershot A570 IS Digital Camera, 7.1 Megapixels, 4x Optical Zoom, 4x Digital Zoom, 2.5" LCD Display - Refurbished:
My comments mirror many I have seen on the internet about the 570is....you start getting a low battery indicator quickly, even with brand new batteries...then a short time later the camera will simply shut down, even though your batteries are fine: put them in another camera and do another 200 shots or more. I bought one of these factory rebuilt in Oct 2007...it simply totally died in April 2009...Canon said it would cost $80 to fix, more than what it costs to buy another rebuilt one. I would not recommend this model to anyone....I had 2 Powershots die the same week...they are great while they work...they just don't work very long

Comments about Canon Canon Powershot A570 IS Digital Camera, 7.1 Megapixels, 4x Optical Zoom, 4x Digital Zoom, 2.5" LCD Display - Refurbished:
I have a Nikon 8400 which is a great camera, with a swing out LCD Viewer. But it is bulky.
I purchased this Canon last week and took over 350 3.1MP pictures with it so far, indoor and out this week.
It takes great shots under flourescent, tungsten, and incadescent lighting, as well as sunny and cloudy days.
Where before I would have to tweak the Nikon for differing exposure conditions, this camera automatically adjusts and compensates.
I have several comments:
-There are 2 owners manuals: Basic and Advanced. One needs to switch between both to get all the information on the camera. A big pain.
-This camera's focal range is 35-140mm . I would prefer a close-up range of at least 28mm.
-I put in new and charged NiMH 2700mAh batteries. The camera is still taking pictures after the 350 shots. And no low battery indicator yet.
-There is no provision for external flash. You have to buy a Canon adapter and flash.
-It fits nicely in a shirt pocket.
-Large LCD screen.
-The SD card and batteries are both accessed with the same cover, so you need to power down before changing cards, otherwise the camera shuts off.
