I bought this camera when I got tired of my point-and-shoot missing my toddler's quick movements...so many pics lost! The HD video is amazing and doesn't take a pro to figure out. This is my first SLR and I highly recommend it for first time users. Long battery life too :)

This was the first SLR I've ever bought and I love it! I read through the manual so it was super easy to use all the features. I was surprised at how much lighter it is than my friend's Nikon.

I was going to buy it new because Canon's refurb warranty is only 30 or 60 days, but when I found a refurb on Adorama with their 1-year warranty I got that! I can't even tell it was a refurb! I am soooo happy with this purchase!

No regrets. I researched this camera for a long time before buying and it came highly recommended almost everywhere. Works very well in low light situations without a flash. That was one of my main concerns and that worry has completely gone away. I am very pleased and look forward to my skills growing into the camera. The kit lens works just fine, but I will be saving up for a good zoom lens next.

Great to be using an SLR again after using single lens digitals for several years. This provides all the creativity of 35mm but with loads of extra capability! Excellent value. Good for photo enthusiasts who want creativity and qauality. For those who start out using it in basic point and shoot mode - you'll be enticed to learn more.

Comments about Canon Canon EOS Rebel T1i EF-S Digital SLR Camera, 15.1 Megapixel, 3.0-inch LCD Monitor, with 18-55mm Lens - Black:

I bought my T1i about a month ago and I'm very happy with it. I've used it for shooting sports (baseball, marathon), a concert in a dark nightclub, and photos of my family. The T1i has performed admirably. The concert photos in particular were noted by the artist (Amanda Palmer) on her Twitter feed.

I used Canon's 35mm film AE-1 SLR for over 25 years and this is my first dSLR. I've found the controls to be easy to use in full manual as well as aperture and shutter priority modes.

The live view mode (shooting using the LCD panel rather than the viewfinder) was a bit tricky -- focusing is done via a button other the shutter button and is a bit slow. I've been using this less than I had expected as result.

I've been using the kit 18-55mm lens, which has been more than adequate for my purposes. When I was shooting in the club and at an elementary school musical it would have been nice to have had a zoom lens with more reach.

Overall, I am extremely happy with this camera.

I purchased this camera because I was no longer able to capture images of my son when he became a toddler. The shutter lag on my point-and-shoot was causing too many missed moments. The Cannon Rebel EOS T1-i has been wonderful. I have taken some of the most amazing shots. To have a vision of what you want...and then actually control whether or not it turns out that way is priceless. Highly recommend this camera to novice photographers (like myself). It is fun and easy to learn. Also has a great automatic setting if you're not the daring type. You will not be disappointed.

If you know just enough about photography to want some options yet not enough to understand them all then this is your camera. I can use the presets as a baseline and then manually tinker with things and get an idea of what things look like with each type of adjustment. As someone that wants to be a photographer someday but doesn't want to spend a fortune to get there, this camera gives me the opportunity to learn with equipment that won't let me down.

Since I'm an enthusiast, maybe some comments could be not so interesting for all of you, but I'll try.

I bought 3 more lenses beyond the 18-55mm kit. Macro 100mm f/2.8, tele 70-300mm and a Wide just for fun...

For now, totally impressed with the results...

Take time to read the manual and get comfortable with this camnera so you can get the best from it. Sure you ca use it in full auto mode but that is a waste of a great camera

This is my fist SLR camera and I am nothing but impressed. I decided to go with the T1i over the Xsi because of the video option, and a few other better features. I have not regretted spending the extra money at all. This is a very solid comfortable camera that gives me a lot of room to grow into. The T1i is a great camera for someone looking to buy their first SLR. It's easy to pick up and start using right away for a newbie, but has many advanced features that experienced photographers need.

it has some great features, which i haven't used all of them yet, but very simple and straightforward. i would suggest only getting the camera and a lens or 2, the special kit is nothing great for the extra dough. the protective cover sheets for the lcd, last a few minutes at best.

Comments about Canon Canon EOS Rebel T1i EF-S Digital SLR Camera, 15.1 Megapixel, 3.0-inch LCD Monitor, with 18-55mm Lens - Black:

Camera is a very good performer. Video focus could be improved through automatic process.
High ISO can be noisy but it's far better than most cameras I've seen. The kit 18-55 lens is good for close up shots and some general use. It is best however for close up use. I have found that I use the 55-250 lens more for general use.
A lens in between these two would be ideal.
Lastly this camera is a good pick for someone transitioning from a point and shoot. It has point and shoot features along with the more compex features to fine tune your photos.

I took the T1i to photograph the Rose Bowl Parade. The pictures turned out sharp and colorful. You would never think the floats were moving when they were shot. I was very happy with all 206 pictures and didn't have to delete any because of blur.

Comments about Canon Canon EOS Rebel T1i EF-S Digital SLR Camera, 15.1 Megapixel, 3.0-inch LCD Monitor, with 18-55mm Lens - Black:

I was switching from SLR to DSLR. Wanted a good quality light weight compact DSLR for traveling. Looked at the Nikon D5000 and this one. They are on the high end of the "entry level DSLR" but it is more of an entry level semi pro cameras in my opinion.

I like that Canon used the same sensor as the EOS 50D. A pro camera, while the Nikon uses the sensor of the a consumer product sensor of the D90. Also l Ike the fact that the body is still made in Japan as oppose to Thailand with the Nikon.

This camera feels good in the hand, like my older film EOS I had. It is very ridged. The nikon just felt more like a toy compare to the T1I. It made the decision easier that all canon EOS lens fit each other. My film EOS is 12 years old, and all the glass I had worked with this camera. A really plus for any canon user thinking about upgrading, it could save you some money on glass.

I had friends that had the D5000 and T1I, and the picture quality were both excellent, to say one was better then the other is splitting hairs. They both took great pictures. They both took pro quality photos. So my decision came down to non photo quality items.

The AF function of both camera perform well. Did not really notice any advantage of the 11 AF point of the D5000 over the 9 of the T1I.

The speed for action shots is pretty good 3.4/sec of continues shooting, the nikon was a bit faster to 4/sec.

The 3" high res LCD made reviewing the shot so much easier, which made it is easy to over look the canon's lack of a swivel screen. Think that is why the D90 also has a high res fixed 3" LCD as oppose to the 2.7" swivel that the D5000 has. The screen quality is one of the biggest reason I choose the canon.

I have to give the canon view finder the edge over the D5000. It seems larger. And it made shooting with glasses on easier. And I can focus the dioptric to my eye without glass also.

I am not a flash user in general, the canon's 12800 ISO ability gave it a edge over the D5000's 6400. Both built in flash perform well for snap shoot shooting.

The fact that the screen was left of center and the main function bottoms and nav control was on the right side made one hand operation easier while shooting. The Nikon config was not as well suited for one hand operation with the operations buttons on the left side and nav button on the right.

I have a HD camcorder I travel with also, so the D5000 and the T1I HD video ability was not a factor in my decision. But I took a 1080P video with T1I, and it look fine on my Mac.

The kit lens with the canon seem to be on par with the nikon, both plastic mounts. Think the nikon may have a very slight edge over the canon in this department. It seems to focus a bit quick. But I like that both were stabilized lenses.

So even if I did not have canon glass already, the screen and ISO ability of the T1I gave it the nod over the D5000 for me.
