Bought this for my wife to use on a recent vacation to Israel. She has always struggled with blurred images from pressing shutter too hard and missed shots from shutter lag. This camera solved both problems! She uses mostly 'full auto' setting, but is gradually learning to use creative settings. She loves it and the vacation pictures turned out great!

I purchased the Canon Rebel XSi specifically for astrophotography, either as a piggyback on a telescope tripod, or though the scope itself. My decision to purchase this camera was made after viewing the deep sky photos of a number of different people, all showing amazing renderings of the wondrous night sky. I did specifically ahve this altered for deep sky photography by Gary Honis. Another advantage to this camera is that I can simply either add the X-Nite CC1 screw in filter, or adjust the camera's white balance, and the camera returns to being just like a regular camera and can be used for all other photographs. The wonderful sharp photos, ease of use, easys ee LCD screen, that it was alertable for deep sky photography, yet easily put back into action as a regular camera, made the Canon Rebel XSi camera my first choice. That it could also use a wireless remote control shutter release switch, so I could do my work standing back from the scope, sealed the deal!

I have been wanting to purchase an upgrade/replacement for my older camera, but with the recent addition of our daughter to our family, I was also constrained by my budget. After shooting around with several different Canon EOS models and thoroughly researching my options, I opted for the Rebel XSi, which best fit my needs. After reading all of the reviews regarding the refurbished Canon cameras, I chose to purchase a refurbished body as well (which allowed me to also get an additional lens without going too far over budget). I could not be happier with this camera - everything functions as it should, the quality of the shots are great, and there is absolutely no cosmetic damage (scratches, dings, etc.) to the camera or stock lens at all. The XSi itself performs admirably in a variety of shooting conditions, when it is properly set up for the specific condition at hand. I have seen several poor reviews of the XSi, but have not encountered any problems yet. In order to get the most from this (or any!) camera, you must take the time to learn what functions this camera offers, as well as how they affect the picture outcome and how to manipulate these functions for your specific shot and/or conditions. good camera, easy to use, easy to learn about, nice photos. Lens was ok, but I got a f1.8 right away for general use. I would have prefered the 1.8 to the wide angle that comes with this body. A nice telephoto would have been a second choice, the wide angle being last on my list. Sometinmes this body has trouble focusing in extermely low light situations.

Within a week, I was shooting fairly decent shots. A bit of a learning curve vs. my point & shoot Canon Powershot. My preferred settings are the AV setting. I prefer it over the Macro setting, I crop instead of using macro. This camera takes great shots with indirect light. Morning and early afternoons offer the best light. I shoot indoors, and love the results! Higher ISO settings with less light later in early evening didn't work as well.

Colors are very good, you can fine tune using the menu/photo style setting. I wish there were less buttons to push to access the color setting. It's the only streamlining this camera needs. Otherwise, I shoot in the 4Mb range, and get decent crisp photos for use on my website. I sell yarn and fibers, and am impressed with the photos so far! Overall, the camera was a savvy purchase being refurbished, I saved alot.

When the camera arrived, I was amazed! Yes it is refurbished, but it came factory sealed from Canon. It looks brand new!
I am using this camera to start a small photography business. It's my first DSLR camera and, so far, I'm pleased. The instructional DVD guide that comes with the refurbished kit (by Lantern Guides) has helped me tremedously!
Overall, as many others have said, don't be afraid to buy "refurbished." The only way to tell it's refurbished is the little sticker on the bottom saying it is.
The only thing I would say is that the lense that comes with the camera is good, but I already am finding I want/need others in order to achieve different kinds of results. For example, I want a telephoto lens so I can increase my depth of field even more.

I have been a traveler for most of my 41 years living on planet Earth, and been mostly a P&S camera user. Last year, I was inspired by a friend's hi-fi DSLR camera. After spending numerous late-night and weekend hours browsing and comparing the lead brands / manufacturers, I finally settled on Canon. Besides price and quality, primary factors that helped me decide were variety and availability of accessories, and after sales service for someone who is always on the move in different parts of the world. Pricing was the trickiest part as every additional $100 added some more features that one would desire. But a few words of caution for the novices and occasional users like me – don't get carried away! Unless you are a professional, you won't even notice the difference most of the times. A megapixel or two doesn't make that much of a difference once you are above six megapixels. Also, don't get befooled by the higher resolution LCD display used as a sales pitch by some. It is only a display to look at the pictures on the camera only. This is not what the printout will look like, so don't compare/consider the LCD displays in decision making unless you will only be looking your pictures on the camera itself. Also, if you are not interested in (or don't have time to explore) the advanced features, just stick to your P&S – not worth paying extra amount on DSLR as the quality is not that different if you keep it at auto function. I have given a fair run to the camera since I bought it several weeks ago. Though I have yet to master the advanced features, I am very glad with the results so far – quite better than what I expected. The crispness and the colors are just amazing. I have several printouts by now, and am always amazed by the quality. The menu is easy to follow, and the grip is just right and comfortable. It weighs a bit more than a P&S, but not that it will wear me out on a day-long trip to down town New York, or to Shenandoah Valley! Now a few words about refurbished. I have my budget limitations, as most of us who are looking at this review do. I managed to save significantly by looking at Adorama's refurbished stock for camera and an additional lens. Refurbished does not necessarily means something bad or wrong. It is only that the display units in shops cannot be sold as NEW and hence are sent back to the factory for cleanup and fine tuning. These are then sold as refurbished. Being an optimist, I take it as a plus point that a skilled person has checked on my unit and is satisfied that it is in best operating condition. Otherwise, the unit would have ended in scrap rather than sent to me! If it were not for the packing, I would have no way of knowing that it is a refurbished unit. There were no sign that it was ever used, no scratch marks, not even fingerprints. I must say – refurbished is the way to go.And finally, a few words about Adorama. I am a visual person, and like to see things first and prefer to buy face-to-face. However, reading through the all positive feedbacks about Adorama convinced me to give it a try, and I am happy that I did! [...]

I love this camera! Especially refurbished (that means that it WILL work and you get it for a great price). I was debating between this and getting the Nikon D5000 and I ended up choosing this one. With Nikon, you either go big (D90) or go small (D40)...not in between. Since I was on a budget, I went for Canon. I went to several stores and handled the Xsi before making my decision. I have fallen in love with it's versatility! Having the WB & exposure & ISO right at my fingertips is wonderful for when i need to change settings quickly! The kit lens isn't the greatest, but I got a 55-250mm IS lens to go with my camera (refurbished as well) and I have gotten some beautiful shots! The only thing I don't like is that in the scene modes (i.e. portrait, scenic) you don't have much control besides the default settings...but then again, i guess there's a reason for that.

OVERALL:
Awesome camera. The only reason to go to the Xti would be to get movie mode (which isn't even that great)and more megapixel...which,unless you're blowing a picture up for a billboard, you don't need. There are obviously better cameras out there, but for the price, you can't find a better deal

This is my first dSLR and I could not be happier! I've had good luck with Canon in the past and, so far, this camera has not disappointed me. I am just learning photography and I love how easy it is to switch between automatic and manual settings on this camera. First refurbished is like new, definitely the way to go. indoor photos tend to come out very orange. dont like liveview, the money put into making that standard could have been put to better use elsewhere. aside from that this camera takes amazing photos, has lots of features and amazing battery life.

I've been looking to upgrade to a DSLR for a while now. Everyone I know, amateurs and pros, own Canons. I originally wanted the T1i, but decided that I wouldn't miss having the video capabilities.

This camera came in perfect condition. I'd have no way of telling if it was refurbished other than the stickers on it. The camera body fits perfectly in my hand, and while having the Live View option is nice, I prefer to use the viewfinder. I do wish it had a higher ISO, but I'll live.

The kit lens is okay to start with. I've gotten decent up-close pictures with it. However, I intend on getting a few lenses, including a macro, since many of my pictures will be up-close.

If I had the extra money, I would've just bought the body and a better starter lens. Aside from that, this was perfect.

If your like me and tired of dull flat point and shoot pictures, but don,t really want to quit your job and become a photojournalist, then this is an ideal camera for you. You can put the battery in turn it on full auto and start taking great pictures. Turn the knob to portrait and take a nice fuzzed out background picture of the wife or turn it to sports and get a perfect exposure of your kids big play. When you get ready you can start auto exposure braketing, program shifting, depth of field controlling, manual photo shooting, without limits.I think this camera is the perfect blend of ease of use for a beginner and sophisticated state of the art technoligy for more advanced users. I had been trying unsecsessfully to get a shot of my dog catching a frisbee with my high end point and shoot. Never could get it right, always blurry or to late, never the real cool shot. A few days after getting familiar with my new canon xsi I went to my friends who is a professional dog trainer kennels to watch him work some dogs and to take some pictures. I put the xsi in basic sports mode, aimed at the dog and held the shutter button down. The camera sounds like some kind of pro is at the controls and apparently thats the case. See attached photo! My freind liked it so much he put it on the first page of his website[@].So I am very pleased with the canon xsi and as for the refurb issue I think it's a great deal. Someone had to check every aspect of my camera, reset everything to factory defaults, make sure all functions worked, check for scratches etc and then put their seal of approvel on it.I have not found anything wrong, not even a fingerprint, nor any function that does'nt work exactly as it should.If your thinking about moving up to a DSLR you wont be able to beat the price of this refurb and you wont be disappointed with the canon xsi.

It isn't the best for low-light situations, but that may also be my lack of knowledge to fix the problem =P It's a little loud, but that was partially fixed by turning off the "beep" that would go off before it took a picture.
I love this camera, and you reccomend it to anyone getting into DSLR photography.

I've taken pictures at a wedding, a martial arts class, and several events. With the exception of the martial arts classes the pictures have been outstanding. The things I plan on getting next are an external flash (Canon 430 EX) so that I can bounce like or use a diffuser and a faster lens. Maybe a prime lens like a 50 or an 85. The zoom lenses with a constant maximum aperture are too expensive for me. I wouldn't hesitate to buy this camera again at all. I have zero buyers remorse.

I am trying to get to the professional level, and this is my first SLR. It's easy to use, easy to learn (I did buy an extra manual from the bookstore that had more details than the instruction book that comes with) and for sure a fair price. The kit lens takes pretty good pictures and isn't heavy, which is good for a newbie.

the refurb looked new and works great out of the box. it was a little too small/light for my hands so i got the extra battery grip. now i have no problems and it is much more convenient to shoot vertically. the kit lens is ok to use w/ good lighting but is very bad in low light when shooting with fast shutter. a great beginner package!

After reading all the great reviews for refurbished equipment, I decided that I would take the plunge. I ordered the camera [...] I have used it for nature, macro and shot over 500 photos at a Native American Pow Wow in the two weeks I have had it. It performs well with both the lense it came with (not the best lense I own), my 18-300 IS Tamron lense, my 10-20 Sigma wide angle and my Tamron 90mm Macro lense. I had considered the Canon 40D but after handling it I realized it was to heavy for me to hand-hold with my arthritis. So I bought my second Rebel. Very pleased with the camera and more than pleased with the service!

I had my doubts about buying a refurbished camera, because I have never bought anything but new. But the condition it came in is basically brand new. The only way to tell it was a refurb was the box it came in. No flaws in performance whatsoever or cosmetic issues with the product. Not to mention the xsi is a great camera. I was looking at the 40d but I wanted a camera where I would never be deterred to take it with me because of size. I only wish the grip was a little better. Overall great camera and experience with adorama.

So far, I am very satisfied with the performance and quality of the 450D. This is my first dSLR after many digital compacts and my first experience with Adorama. I was unable to tell the camera was re-furbished except for a sticker on the box. Great Value !

Image quality is great and you can't tell that this camera was refurbished besides a few little stickers that are attached. First DSLR and I am loving it.

If you compare Image quality, price and convenience of use....there's only one conclusion you can come to...This camera is as good as any SLR on the market at any price, any sensor size. You can listen to the hype about why you should pay more for a so-called higher end camera or even a new one, but you won't get better image quality or satisfaction if you do...Don't buy new - buy refurb...After all, it's refurbed at the Canon Factory...so, in my opinion, just as good as new and looks new. Think before you leap and when you leap, buy refurb from Adorama - the only place I completely trust for my photo equipment.

I've been saving up to replace my 300D for a long time. I have read every review there is and I was convinced the XSI would meet my needs. Boy does it! What makes this special is the great price Adorama has on refurbed models. I got the XSI body and a refurbed 430EX and they look brand new, they smell brand new and most importantly they perform perfectly. IMO save money and buy refurb and use the savings to get good glass or lighting.

I've always been against buying refurbished electronics, but based on other reviews here and a recommendation for Adorama's refurbs, I gave this item a shot. I'm very pleased with the product, not to mention the price break from the retail version. Although I won't be buying a refurbed computer anytime soon, I would not have any fears about getting refurbed camera gear from Adorama again.

I was looking to step up to a DSLR from my point and shoot. The XSi kit provided me with the improved performance of today's entry-level DSLRs and did so at a reasonable price. I was considering this kit or the 40D. Believe it or not, out of all the possible deciding factors, I could not get past the recording media format. I have invested in SD cards and really liked the fact that Canon offered it as the format for this model.

I'll be looking to upgrade the kit lens to something with a wider focal range, but the kit lens does have its place. As something which is bundled for virtually no cost, it is a competent, image stabilized, wide angle lens for the user shooting on this camera.

This is my second reconditioned Canon and it is just like new. Love the upgrades on it and can't wait to get out and do some real shooting in a month or so when I go on a working vacation. This is just an all around great camera. The price can't be beat and the lens that was included is wonderful. Would have been nice to have the memory card included but was easy enough to pick one up. You can't go wrong here.
