This is the second Xti/400D that I have purchased. obviously I like the body,it is very comfortable, image quality is excellent, and fits my needs fine. As fast as things change anymore it makes sense to me to stay with what I like. Use the extra money for pro lenses, I have a 24-105mm 4.0Lis and a 70-200mm 4.0Lis that work awesome with the 400D bodies.I guess it is all in what each person feels is their priorty. All I know is that Cannon quality means alot and the 400D camera body is a excellent bargin.

Comments about Canon Canon Digital Rebel XTi SLR Camera Body Kit, 10.1 Megapixels, U.S.A. Warranty - Black Finish:

I am into nature photography and when I am in the field usually have one camera ready for telephoto pictures and another ready for landscapes. I prefer to minimize the chance of dust or missed shots by always having two cameras ready to go. Right now my 40D is the one with the telephoto lens. The XTi is a great companion for all the other photographs like landscapes, people, flowers and insects.

Comments about Canon Canon Digital Rebel XTi SLR Camera Body Kit, 10.1 Megapixels, U.S.A. Warranty - Black Finish:

Got this on a lark to try out the EOS system. Now I am getting a 5D but I will keep using this to get more cropping options from my lenses. The main drawback with the camera is the same as 99% of small-sensor DSLRs: the small sensor. I have tried to live with it for long time with two different systems, but it just makes lens choices too hard to manage. Also I wish they would put more dedicated wheels on low end DSLRs - it can't cost much more. IQ on this camera is good - I don't think they make bad DSLRs anymore, just cheap lenses. I got this one used for about a quarter the price of one lens.

I'm sure that other reviews have gone into detail with the pros and cons so I'll make this quick. It's a great all around slr camera and I really can't find any major problems with mine. The two things that bother me is that the pop-up flash has a long flash duration and is not adjustable, and when you put a hot-shoe flash on top, you have to use completely manual settings which drives me crazy because the light meter won't compensate so you have to guess the speed and f-stop which takes valuable time. But I'm defiantly happy with mine and is a great camera overall.

I HAVE 2 CANON REBEL FILM SLR CAMERAS, THEY BOTH WORK GREAT NO PROBLEMS WITH THEM AT ALL. I CHOOSE THE CANON REBEL XTI AS MY FIRST DIGITAL SLR BECAUSE WITH THAT MANY RESOLUTIONS I KNOW THATS ALL I NEED. WHEN I WENT TO THE 2007 AUTO SHOW WITH IT I REALIZED THE BATTERY HASN'T WENT LOW. THE PICTURES CAME OUT BEAUTIFUL JUST LIKE MY FILM CAMERAS. I CAN'T COMPARE TO ALL 3 OF THEM BECAUSE THERE ALL FOR 3 DIFFERENT REASONS. :) THANK YOU [...].

Comments about Canon Canon Digital Rebel XTi SLR Camera Body Kit, 10.1 Megapixels, U.S.A. Warranty - Black Finish:

I've had my Rebel XTi for a year now...upgraded from the Rebel XT that I had for a year. My main reasons for staying with the Rebel series are that they're small and light, easy to use, and not too expensive. My main reasons for upgrading to the XTi were higher megapixel count, self-cleaning sensor, and bigger display. I LOVE the bigger display, I can't really tell any difference for the megapixel count, and the self-cleaning sensor does NOT work at all. No matter how careful I am, dust still ends up on the sensor. Now that I have a second body for my other lens I don't change lenses anymore, but dust still shows up somehow. My other gripe was that the handgrip was "creaky" and felt cheap until I added glue. Now it's solid like the XT was!

Comments about Canon Canon Digital Rebel XTi SLR Camera Body Kit, 10.1 Megapixels, U.S.A. Warranty - Black Finish:

Great backup digital camera, v. easy to use, too small for me, had to add battery holder. 10 megapix better than 30D. Can really ramp up saturation in camera. But you cannot use it in the rain, or in the mist, or within reach of a wave, on the Oregon coast. Camera ceases to work at the least approach of moisture.

Comments about Canon Canon Digital Rebel XTi SLR Camera Body Kit, 10.1 Megapixels, U.S.A. Warranty - Black Finish:

I was very skeptical about going digital. I have the Canon 35mm rebel with also the 80-300mm lens. A friend suggested the digital and I just didn't think I would like the quality of the pictures. Well, after lots of thought, I finally bought it and now I wonder what took me so long. I just used it and shot about 100 pictures at one event. When I got home, I was able to delete the pics that I didn't like, before going and having them all developed and then sifting through the ones I wouldn't use when scrapbooking the event. I can't wait to take this one to Disney in September.
Great purchase and I am very pleased with the easy to use ability of the camera. Since I am not that familiar with digital, I was some worried, but it is very user friendly.

Most pros know you have to calibrate your camera. This was true with film, and it's more true with digital cameras. The most common complaint I've heard about the XTi (flash exposure issues) is totally correctable in just a few minutes from the camera setup menus. Otherwise, it's been an amazing camera, saving me thousands over the professional version with all the same features I use and higher resolution. It's a no brainer.

I have had little success taking sports pictures of my kids with a standard digital camera. On the recommendation of a friend, I purchased this camera along with a Canon USM 70-300MM lens. This combination has been terrific.

I have also been taking advantage of Canon's online training to learn photography in general and the operation of the XTI specifically.

Overall I'm pleased with the XTI and I think it is something I can build on and use for a very long time.

I bought the camera a month ago with an EF-S 17-85mm f/4-5.6 IS USM SLR lens. Pictures are excellent and controls are easy to use. I'm exploring the advance controls of the camera and they are easy to setup and use. So far the experience is great. Even in auto mode camera takes excellent pictures. If anyone is looking for a professional digital SLR, Canon Rebel XTi is an excellent choice.

Comments about Canon Canon Digital Rebel XTi SLR Camera Body Kit, 10.1 Megapixels, U.S.A. Warranty - Black Finish:

I love this camera so much I just insured it! Of all of the purchases I've made in my 37 years of life, this is one of the best values bar none. I considered the 30D and 5D but couldn't pass up on the value the XTi offered and the quality when paired with good lenses (especially the L lenses). I absolutely LOVE this lens and honestly I can find very few faults. I wish it could hold 30 RAW images in burst mode, and I wish the P mode would do a better job avoiding blurry images, but otherwise this thing is perfect. Oh, and it would be great if it had a full-frame sensor, but even if I bought the 5D replacement I'd still keep this one in my bag with my 24-105mm f/4L IS USM lens as the results I get with that combo are absolutely incredible.

This is my first digital SLR, and I have fallen in love. This camera does everything I need, and has plenty of extra features that I haven't even touched yet. I've had the camera for about four months, and it hasn't given me any troubles at all so far. My only complaint is that it is a little too small for my hands, but that will soon be fixed with a battery grip. Like all Canons I've used to this point, this camera makes anyone feel like a pro behind the lense. I especially enjoy shooting RAW and using the 10 megapixels to their fullest. Overall this camera is great, and I have used the Nikon D80 and I think the XTi is a perfect fit for me. Worth every penny.

Comments about Canon Canon Digital Rebel XTi SLR Camera Body Kit, 10.1 Megapixels, U.S.A. Warranty - Black Finish:

I've been a Canon user for years, and one reason I purchased Canon again is that I already have some lenses. This camera takes great pictures, as would any camera with equal resolution and features. Being able to shoot in both RAW and JPEG is very useful if you are interested in using Photoshop. I don't think that this camera will disappoint anyone who purchases it. I do think that Canon needs to put some more thought into their documentation. I found the instruction book poorly organized and not very detailed. Once you learn Canon's menu organization on the camera itself, the buttons all make sense.

I think that this camera is a great choice, and heads above the rest in this category. The only reason to spend more money would be to get a camera with a full frame sensor.

Comments about Canon Canon Digital Rebel XTi SLR Camera Body Kit, 10.1 Megapixels, U.S.A. Warranty - Black Finish:

I bought the camera body without the (universally derided) kit lens, and with the Sigma 18 - 125 zoom. Together these work very nicely, and silently - contrary to some early reviews. Color rendition is generally good, but I found that the automatic white balance sometimes gets fooled - no problem if you set it.

The first body I bought was DOA out of the box. Adorama exchanged it w/o hassles and there were no more problems.

I'm getting extremely detailed, sharp, low noise photos even at ISO 800 and perhaps 1600. I'm not missing the absence of body-housed VR except at very low light levels, when I can use flash or a tripod.

I miss the absence of spot metering, although the center weighted option is almost as useful much of the time. The autofocus, with this Sigma lens, had a tendency to mis-focus also in low light levels until I switched to the center-spot weighted option. I'd like to see the built-in flash be able to bounce - none of the competitors cameras can be used as bounce flash either.

To the folks who say high megapixel counts are unimportant, I say that the extra detail becomes important when you crop and blow up small sections of an image using Photoshop or the equivalent - if there is not enough detail there you are limitied in what you can do.

Comments about Canon Canon Digital Rebel XTi SLR Camera Body Kit, 10.1 Megapixels, U.S.A. Warranty - Black Finish:

A solid digital SLR. The controls are fairly straightforward, although some time with the manual helps. The automatic settings are good. It's pretty easy to adjust settings while shooting. The AF and metering are reliable. There are some excellent features available for those who are willing to get into the manual, but it's simple enough to use right from the box. Battery life is good and start up time is excellent.

Comments about Canon Canon Digital Rebel XTi SLR Camera Body Kit, 10.1 Megapixels, U.S.A. Warranty - Black Finish:

This is my first DSLR after giving up film. I've been loyal to Canon for years, but had a hard time closing the deal on the Rebel XT when Nikon just released the D80. Low and behold, Canon releases the XTi! I bought it on sort of a whim when it first came out...no reviews or anything. I went on the faith that there's no way Canon would release an upgrade that wasn't better in every way than it's replacement. Well, my faith came true! This camera is an incredible bargain for what you get. The polycarb body doesn't bother me...seems this is where they were able to cut the cost to make this such a buy.

A few things to remember...from ISO 100 to 800 I usually keep +2/3 exposure comp when shooting in lower light and light colored objects outdoors. When shooting ISO 1600, be very careful not to underexpose the shot. ISO 1600 pics from this camera are very nice, just remember to turn up the EV comp.

Spend the money for good, fast aperature lenses! You won't regret it and the performance will be even more stunning.

I use the EF-S 18-55 F2.8 IS and the EF 70-200 F4L IS. Excellent lenses!

I am just an amateur photographer, (if that). I have wanted a digital SLR for a long time, but I have been afraid to pull the trigger.
I purchased this camera and the EF 28-135mm f/3.5-5.6 IS USM Lens.

Comments about Canon Canon Digital Rebel XTi SLR Camera Body Kit, 10.1 Megapixels, U.S.A. Warranty - Black Finish:

I waffled between the 30-D and the Rebel XTi--for months! Both had characteristics that I wanted, but not all of them were in one camera. I am glad that I bought the XTi. It does everything and more that the 30-D was reported to do--yet it is lighter in weight, has more megapixels, and the all important sensor cleaning built right nto the camera. This is my first digital that I have bought, but I have used several different kinds that my friends have. No one that I knew had an XTi, so I tested it at a local retail showroom. I was still undecided to a point. My basic in-decsion was that I could not justify the cost difference bewteen the 30-D and the XTi. (Yes, the 30-D has an alloy body) The camera arrived the Friday before Christmas and I was up and shooting in about 15 minutes. Probably some basic knowledge of SLRs would be required in order to do this. I shot all of my Christmas shots with the XTi. I shot NO film. I must say this is one sweet shooting D-SLR. The auto focus is super sharp, fast and I find that it is extremly accurate. I have used it in low and no light and have been very pleased with the results. I teach photography at the college level (mostly film right now) I will have no problem in suggesting an XTi to some of my more advanced students. My ONLY complaint would be shooting in low light with a high ISO produces quite a bit of noise with larger prints. Use a smaller print and you should be fine. If I had to buy a new camera today, I would certainly buy an XTi without hesitation. The frames per second has incredible speed as promised by Canon. I teamed the XTi with a speedlite 580 and the results have been incredible, when I do use the flash. (I am a fan of 'available light') Again, this is one sweet shooting D-SLR, easy to use, great results--I think you'll LOVE it. Happy shooting!

Comments about Canon Canon Digital Rebel XTi SLR Camera Body Kit, 10.1 Megapixels, U.S.A. Warranty - Black Finish:

I was all excited about the XTi and could not wait to get my hands on it. However, I was very disappointed with the exposures, or I should say, "underexposure" problems in almost all situations. I took over 300 shots, with all kinds of indoor/outdoor scenes, and 90% of the shots were too dark. Most can be corrected in my Adobe Photoshop CS, but are you going to sit there and adjust each photo? I then went on the internet and found some blogs that discussed the same problem, so I decided to return the XTi. The next person may not have any problems, but it did not work out for me. Adorama offered to exchange the XTi, but I was leary of another return possibility.[...]

Comments about Canon Canon Digital Rebel XTi SLR Camera Body Kit, 10.1 Megapixels, U.S.A. Warranty - Black Finish:

I purchased this body for its acceptable quality, size and price (in that order), which was important for my use. My entire Canon 35mm system (which this will replace) still looks as new as the day I purchased it, because I take very good care of my equipment. The plastic on the new black XTi will get the same treatment. I teamed the body up with the Canon EFS 17-85mm f/4-5.6 IS lens. If you could only take one lens, this one would be it for me. And even though the image stabilizer is great, and will "save you" on a few occasions, my Bogen tripod is still my friend. I try to travel light now VS the old days of carry it all because you might use it. I did fill a need for the Canon EW-73B lens hood, SanDisk 1GB Ultra 2 compact flash card, extra battery, Tiffen Pro Digital Enhancing Kit, and a 3 year additional warranty. My primarily use for this camera is photographing architecture, landscapes and travel. You can do a lot with this little system!

Comments about Canon Canon Digital Rebel XTi SLR Camera Body Kit, 10.1 Megapixels, U.S.A. Warranty - Black Finish:

Since I got this camera two weeks ago, it has really proved to me that it's not what you use, it's how you use it. Although the XTi is marketed towards new DSLR users (of which I am one), it is fully capable of taking amazing photos on a par with much more expensive cameras. I use it with Canon's 28-135mm f3.5-5.6 IS lens; while it's not L glass, the photos that the camera returns are better than anything I've ever taken. The XTi's controls are very intuitive, and it is very easy to get comfortable shooting with it. The picture quality is fantastic, with very little noise; through the Picture Styles, it is possible to get just about any image you want. The camera is very versatile as well; I have already used it to take snapshots of my friends, a series of outdoor photos in new snow, to photograph a recent swim meet, a choir concert in a medium-low light environment, and on a day trip to Madison; it has been exemplary throughout. The only thing that Canon could have included is a dedicated spot meter; while the partial metering mode covers a fairly small area, it is still not a true spot meter. However, this is certainly not a deal-breaker. Canon has created a truly great bargain with the XTi.

Comments about Canon Canon Digital Rebel XTi SLR Camera Body Kit, 10.1 Megapixels, U.S.A. Warranty - Black Finish:

My expectations have been exceeded in multiple areas with the XTi. I shot pictures of my Golden Retriever in low light, choosing to increase the ISO to 800 and even to 1600 with very little noise. All-in-all, the controls are easy to use, the battery life is tremendous and the custom controls allow for great variety. I recommend this SLR to amateurs and even semi-pros with the availability of many lenses to fit anyone's need. The 2.5in LCD screen allows for a clear representation on playback and is easy for my parents who have difficulty seeing without their glasses! A+ Canon!

It is terrific in the higher ISO ranges, producing almost no noise in the images. Test shots at 1600 ISO were by far the best I have seen. Even a pro can enjoy this little beauty.
