I have had this camera for 3 months and today it fell about 3 feet onto a wood floor. the camera no longer fuctions. I have had 3 other digital cameras that have withstoud a much bigger drops and still work. The actual camera has been great, I am just really disapointed with its durability.

The SD630 is a nice slim little camera with a great big 3.0" LCD screen. It takes surprisingly good pictures in outdoor light and inside with the built-in flash. At full quality JPG mode a 2GB SD card holds 1200 pictures, and with a 300-shot battery the camera is a great little workhorse when you don't want to lug a big camera around. Compared to the comparable Sonys that are a little slimmer the SD630s image quality is outstanding. This camera is not a dSLR substitute but for a small go-anywhere camera it's great. Three things keep me from giving it 5 stars: 1) No last-shot-preview button (you have to move a slider to the full preview mode) 2) anything but the lowest ISO is too noisy 3) there is no true manual mode -- you can't set the aperature or shutter speed. The pseudo-manual mode allows only for forced fill-flash in daylight and things like that.

I've waited to buy a camera for a few years. I wanted to make sure I'd buy the right one. After much research I found that Canon is a great brand, so I found what brand I wanted to buy. Now I only need to decied on the style. What I like about the SD 630 is that its small enough to carry in my backpack or pocket, but still large enough to use. At the best part of the camera is the display screen. Its huge for looking at pics you just took.
