The cam is fast (both focus and lens apperture- you can also TOUCH SCREEN YOUR MAIN FOCUS POINT, its fun and very useful); the IS really works it did impress me, Ive made decent snaps from 1/30 to 1/6 HAND HELD!. ISO 800 is low noise and very good, at least for a compact cam image displayed on computer screen (I dont print anything). The image quality in good light is no better than my cheap canon A 480 tough, just slightly sharper may be. Im not sure I can expect much more in good light with a S90, S95 or G10,11,12. May be yes, but not enough to justify a price 3 to 4 times higher. It has wonderful colors and sharpness at vivid plus cloudy setting but it has the same disapointing compact cam problem of dealing with highlights and contrasty situations ( Im yet to experiment its i-contrast feature). The 24mm lens equivalent, low price and SMALL SIZE (its a cell phone!), were the reasons for my choice. We cant be all the time with big SLR´s. OPERATION was a surprise! The touch screen has all what you need sideway to your frame: ISO, exposure comp.,flash. Its very fast and easy. You can can select and slide with both your fingers or the twisting ring selector. Exposure, ISO and flash are just an one touch and one twist(or touch) operation. LCD image is pretty good. My use is basically architeture and landscapes. As a side note, this is my third refurbished product from adorama, and it works perfectly!
