Comments about Canon Canon PowerShot SX10 IS Digital Camera - Refurbished:

At the far reaches of the zoom you will find resolution and contrast suffer. Yet, that is common on a camera such as this one. That is fully expected. For the dollar amount this camera really does a very fine job. If you do you part and want a 16x20 print, then it will do it. No, it is not equivalent to a high end DSLR, but the results are really good overall. I would recommend it without hesitiation.

Great value for the money. Like the fact that it uses AA batteries so that I am not concerned with expensive proprietary batteries. Image quality is good to maybe ISO 250 or thereabouts. Quality is dropping after that. Corners of the image may be soft but not a problem in many pictures. I add sharpness, contrast, and saturation in the custom setting for most photography.

Comments about Canon Canon PowerShot SX10 IS Digital Camera - Refurbished:

I LOVE taking pictures. I have learned, through trial and error, that with this camera you definitly need to hold the shutter button half way down once focused on what you want to take a picture of. BUT, don't expect anything around the main image/person you are focused on to come out clear if there is ANY movement what so ever. I took some picture for new years eve and all came our blurry do to the sparkly fireworks. I also took pictures last night at my sons football banquet, the pictures that I was able to lock on to his face while he was being still, came out great yet everything around him was blurry. When he recieved his award, it was blurry because he was moving. So this is not a good camera for still shots if you plan on taking random pictures. If you are someone who likes taking controlled pictures like flowers or still images, then it would be fine. The video is okay, again, the focus was a problem. If someone crossed in front, it would get out of focus quickly because it is so sensitive. I think I am going to buy a cheaper Canon or Nikon for everyday use.

Comments about Canon Canon PowerShot SX10 IS Digital Camera - Refurbished:

Full manual control as well as point-and-shoot ease make the SX10 a versatile tool to have handy. This is a great all-around camera for times when the SLR + lenses just aren't practical. Wide angle to long telephoto capability, excellent focus and best-in-class image stabilization make this camera a winner for both landscape and wildlife photography. Though trickier than its predecessor, the camera is capable of superb macros, as well. Stereo movie sound, a twist-and-tilt LCD and great color reproduction assure great photos in a broad spectrum of shooting conditions. Full resolution images can be captured during video recording. And a hot shoe for dedicated flash rounds out this model for one of the best ultrazooms ever manufactured. Minor niggles: some blown highlights here and there, slow focus in low light, chromatic aberration along contrast edges, LCD hard to see in bright outdoor light, operational sounds are recorded in movie mode, narrow aperture at focal lengths above 100mm.

I'm really happy with the camera so far, just had it a little over two weeks but haven't found any real drawbacks yet. I've used it for family indoor shots as well as quite a few outdoor shots. Nothing overly demanding but so far everything looks great.

Comments about Canon Canon PowerShot SX10 IS Digital Camera - Refurbished:

Great camera that I bought specifically because of the 20x optical zoom which I love. I was initially frustrated with the shutter speed until I began using the "sports" setting, which is terrific for active wildlife and surf shots.

My only (slight) disappointment is with outdoor night photography without a flash. I have another brand digital camera which does a much better job of shooting night skies. Perhaps, though, I'll get better results with this Canon once I've had it longer and learned its seemingly endless capabilities better.

Took the camera to Washington, DC on a school trip with my daughter. It was the first time I had really gotten to use it since purchasing it. I absolutely loved the camera. The stablization is great. I had a little trouble inside some museums when the light was low. I had to play around with it some. I still didn't master it while I was there but got some really great photos even inside the museums. I was like a kid with a new toy. I'm extremely satisfied especially with the zoom since that was one of the main features I was looking for. Thanks.

Comments about Canon Canon PowerShot SX10 IS Digital Camera - Refurbished:

This camera is loaded with exciting features and capabilities that will be ignored by most casual photographers. There are tons of things that I have only been able to figure out by reading the manual. When I am setting up a shot, I can select one visible color and have the camera change it to another color. So in my original shot, a blue car could be made green. This is just one example of exceptional features that could be overlooked.

My favorite feature this week is that I can select one color in the view finder. Then all the other colors will be made black and white, kind of like those popular photos of kids with roses you've seen.

I sometimes have trouble with the camera getting hung up trying to auto-focus causing me to miss a shot.

I am sure that most of the difficulties I have had so far are due to my inexperience with this advanced equipment, and I know many of them will be solved with practice.

I would recommend this camera to those wanting to advance their photography skills and capabilities far beyond what most point-and-shoot cameras will do.

I love my new camera. I'm upgrading from the Canon sx3is. I like the new layout. It is easy to use and the zoom is wonderful. It is heavier and bulkier than the sx3, but the new bells and whistles are worth the extra weight.

Comments about Canon Canon PowerShot SX10 IS Digital Camera - Refurbished:

I bought the refurbished version of the SX10 about 2 weeks ago. This is my second Canon refurb; they come looking and functioning like new for less money.
Pros:
This is a great camera in good light. At ISO 200 noise is starting to become noticeable though not intrusive. The zoom is amazing; the image stabilization works very well. I have used this camera for bird photography in good light. The SX10 also takes nice indoor photos, especially with a speedlite. With a speedlite, you can keep the ISO at 80 and get fantastic image quality. But even without the speedlite, the images are quite nice. The Dig!c 4 processors renders very nice saturated colors.
Cons:
The battery life is not quite what is advertised. I only get about 200 shots with 2500mah rechargeable batteries. I wish the low light performance was a bit better. I wouldn't trust shooting at ISO 400 for anything larger than 8x10. Still, most people will feel comfortable at 400 since most don't print larger than this anyway.

All in all, I definitely would recommend this camera if you are looking for a good super-zoom at a reasonable price.

Comments about Canon Canon PowerShot SX10 IS Digital Camera - Refurbished:

I really like the camera. It is big and a bit heavy but it feels solid in your hands. Taken it on one trip so I am still learning about it but the pictures are good. I bought a lens adapter for a polarizer for my outdoors pictures. I need to do some comparison shots but I like that I have that option.

There is quite a bit of shutter lag where the screen goes blank. They should really address this.
