I own two Canon video cameras. One is a ZR series and one is the TX1. I use the TX1 a lot more often because it is easy to carry. I can shoot candid videos without people noticing. The startup time is fast at about 1 second. The small size makes this video camera easy to carry and easy to use with my Canon digital SLR. The best thing is that I am able to sell the final videos and images to clients. It's that good.

Pros:
* Small size makes it easy to carry all the time;
* Swivel screen so that you can include yourself in the picture;
* Built-in 7.1 MP camera for quick still photos;
* Optical image stabilizer;
* Good zoom range;
* Compatible with Canon software if you own other Canon digital cameras.

Cons:
* Short battery life -- I carry 5 spare batteries;
* Zoom lens not wide enough sometimes and there is no option to add an auxillery lens;
* Built-in flash is very harsh and not flattering to human subjects;
* Small screen may be difficult for "older" eyesights.

Overall:

I recommend this video/digital camera. I hope that Canon continues this series.
