Bought the Coolpix L11 for my 7 years old son as his first camera [$]. Over all , for that price, and user experience it was a very good choice. The L11 have good image quality, Just enough controls for a learner, very easy set up and easy way to change between photo modes. Lack of viewfinder deprived this camera of the 5th STAR.

I find this camera hard to focus and the flash leaves a yellow streaky glow with the slightest bit of movement. Decent for the price I paid, but difficult to get good results.

I bought this camera for my 9 yr old daughter. She immediately began using it with no trouble at all. She really liked the movie feature.

I bought this camera for my wife who has a MOST difficult time dealing with anything having multiple settings. This was a Christmas gift for her to use to take "grandbaby" pics of our new grandbaby. She is also an AVID bike rider who likes wildlife. Where she rides her bike she can take wildlife pics on a regular basis. This is a really great camera for putting in a pouch also. Once I set this up to take at the top resolution (most important for a photographer for photoshopping!) it was "point-and-shoot". She loves it and can take mini-movies as well...This is GREAT for a non-camera user who wants to have a small pocket sized useful camera!

This is a great starter camera. Nice features and easy to use. If you put a cheap SD card in the camera, your buffer fills and write time lags. Other than that it works well. Nice movie mode. Highly recommend.

The L11 is a great little camera. Although I love using a digital SLR, I was looking for a camera I could carry around with me all of the time. This is an intuitive and easy to use camera. The large number of settings provides reasonable control over shutter speed, aperture, etc. The quality of most photos is quite good. This little fit-in-your-shirt-pocket camera is not only a camera, but a voice recorder, camcorder, and photocopier. It's also toughly constructed. In the first week, it fell out of my pants pocket (not in a case) as I was sitting down and fell onto a tile over cement floor. A few days later, I bought a little skin case for it. I put it (in the case) in my shirt pocket, then went to get it. With wonderful ineptness, I managed to drop it on another tile over cement floor. The result: not a dent and it works perfectly. And, I'm learning to be a lot more careful.
I'd like to see an option for taking TIFF photos rather than just a variety of JPEGs.
