Comments about Nikon Nikon Coolpix P6000 Digital Camera, 13.5 Megapixel, 4x Optical Zoom, 4x Digital Zoom, 2.7" LCD Display, Black:

Even with its pitfalls this is a very good camara and I would buy another. Nikon needs to step it up a bit to stay in competition with Canon.

Comments about Nikon Nikon Coolpix P6000 Digital Camera, 13.5 Megapixel, 4x Optical Zoom, 4x Digital Zoom, 2.7" LCD Display, Black:

This camera is amazing! It packs lots of pro features and quality into a very small, lightweight package. I just used it on a two week trip to Kenya and was very pleased. Unfortunately the battery doesn't last as long as I'd like, but Adorama has great secondary batteries and chargers to choose from. Also, the lens closure got stuck after a day full of shooting in a dusty game park - and wouldn't close without some prodding. Problem was solved with a little cleaning... otherwise the camera seems very sturdy.

Comments about Nikon Nikon Coolpix P6000 Digital Camera, 13.5 Megapixel, 4x Optical Zoom, 4x Digital Zoom, 2.7" LCD Display, Black:

As a DSLR-shooter, I wanted to have something small I can bring with me anywhere and still have the same freedom of control as on a DSLR. This one fits the bill: you can shoot in complete manual mode, it captures RAW and it has a hot shoe for an external flash. The picture quality is great and the sharpness of the lens is awesome! Not to mention that ISO should be kept as low as possible with such a small sensor. Switching on Macro mode allows for creative depth-of-field despite the size of the sensor.

The things that could be improved: the battery indicator, it does not show until it's getting low. It would be good to see at any time how much is left. There is no RAW capturing in Scene modes. Scene modes are great for a quick point & shoot but then you will only get a jpg out of it. The exposure meter is not always visible, you first have to touch the scroll wheel to bring it up. So for every exposure you will have to make sure whether you're still in the ballpark. This can slow you down a bit. The auto white balance is not always the most reliable and can go off quite a bit. Not so much of a problem when shooting RAW but if you're shooting jpg you want to look out for that. Then the last thing is iTTL. Even though it states that it's supported with the newer Nikon Speedlights, I've had not much luck with it yet. It would overexpose too often, so I end up just dialing the flash manually. While this works, this can also slow you down a bit.

Overall, even though it's not perfect, if you know and can live with the limitations, it's a great product. To me, the only pocket-size camera available (next to Canon's G10) that can provide professional quality images and workflow. If you're just looking for a quick and dirty point & shoot, this one would probably be overkill, you get cheaper, smaller and lighter models that would work just as well for that purpose.

Comments about Nikon Nikon Coolpix P6000 Digital Camera, 13.5 Megapixel, 4x Optical Zoom, 4x Digital Zoom, 2.7" LCD Display, Black:

I originally got this camera so my wife could take shots of the makeup she was doing on exotic dancers. Once out of the box, I was very surprised at how similar it was to my much more high-end Nikon D200. To tell the truth, this little point and shoot is extremely comparable to the higher end DSLR models. I would reccomend this to anyone. The only reason I'm not rating this model 5 stars is because of the zoom. However, im most likely spoiled by my DSLRs zooms.

Awesome little camera!
Great for macro and nighttime photography.
Very impressed with the quality of the images.
The GPS location is excellent.
It is rugged too - it will take a knock or two and the odd small spill.
I love this little camera!
(P.S. as a professional photographer used to SLR's I don't give glowing reviews for compact cameras easily - but did I mention that I LOVE this little beast?!)
