Comments about Nikon Nikon D3000 10.2 MP DSLR Camera with 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6G ED AF-S DX VR Lens - Refurbished by Nikon U.S.A.:

I bought the D3000 and 18-55mm VR last August as my first DSLR, and I could not have been happier. It's a huge step up from a point and shoot, and the image quality is great. It's easy to use through the menus and has taught me a lot about photography. It leaves room to grow and experiment.

The only con I can think of is that the camera will not autofocus with some older AF lenses. However, this won't bother most people because there are lot of AF-S lenses available and Nikon is upgrading its lineup with new AF-S lenses, like the new 50mm 1.8G AF-S.

My refurbished products came looking and acting like new, with very few shutter actuations. It's now 10 months since I got this camera and it hasn't malfunctioned once. I could not have been happier with this purchase, or my shopping experience at Adorama.

I just got my camera yesterday and I love it. I looked all around the internet looking for the best price and Adorama has the best deal hands down. My camera was a refurb but it looks and handle like a brand new camera. I LOVE IT! It takes awesome pictures, I have already taken over 300 and about 270 of them were keepers.

Comments about Nikon Nikon D3000 10.2 MP DSLR Camera with 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6G ED AF-S DX VR Lens - Refurbished by Nikon U.S.A.:

Bought the Nikon D3000 camera for lens compatibility purposes with a Nikon D40X. Used two cameras shooting at a football skills training camp. Recommend purchasing a Nikon D3000 book to better understand the variable settings and uses of the camera that has professional recommendations concerning specific applications. The booklet supplied with the camera does not provide that depth of knowledge. Example: I shot a lot of action photos in the 3D area focus mode with the resulting background in focus and the closer subjects either out of focus of not very sharp. Probably should have shot those photos in the Dynamic or Single Point area focus. All this was done with both cameras in the P-Program-Auto mode using a 70-200mm lens and a 18-55mm lens. Also, If you're inclined to make adjustments in White Balance, I recommend that you do a lot of practice shooting because this can be very tricky in various light sources.
Overall, the camera is great for capturing action shots in the continuous release mode, but I do strongly recommend that you should really get to know this camera in depth unless you're inclined to just shoot in the Auto everything mode. Very nice camera. Happy to have it, especially since it's compatible with my other equipment.

Comments about Nikon Nikon D3000 10.2 MP DSLR Camera with 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6G ED AF-S DX VR Lens - Refurbished by Nikon U.S.A.:

Look at closely at the specs for the older Nikon D80 and you'll see that most of those specs seem to have migrated to the new D3000, plus a few other fun things. I am still amazed at how great a camera it is after reading how it was so 'entry-level' and aimed at the beginner's market. It's actually a top performer for it's class. If you want superb action shots/the ability to shoot in very low light without a flash, sure, spend more money, but for the average bear wanting a Nikon DSLR, this will prove quite adequate and quite up to the task for most of your shots. I am very, very happy with it and can't wait to get out into the wilderness for another shoot. And hint: print out the 217 page manual that comes on the CD, there's a lot to learn, as this has more features than you're probably used to. The camera's built-in 'Guide' feature is like having a photography teacher right there with you... hat's off to Nikon on that one!

This is my very First DSLR. I do have some experience with some 35mm SLR photography but even if I had been working with just a point and shoot camera I would have been able to figure this one out with easy. Overall extremely satisfied with the Nikon D3000
