The camera was just what I expected for someone like me to begin learning a new way of life and a new way to have fun. I have talked to other Photographers who say that the Nikon D3000 will grow with me as I learn how to use it. Each day I learn something new and at times I get surprised at what I can do with this camera. Being Refurbished has not stopped the camera from doing it's job 100% each time I use it. I also bought a used 55-200 4/5.6G ED AF-S-DX Lens that was a demo that I bought from Adorma which I am very happy with.The kit lens I think may have a problem but it could be my junt not knowing the lens yet. Once I learned the 55-200 with the Fine Tuning Ring as I call it lol I have been able to take some great cler shots. I do not use the Auto on the camera for I want to learn from the start how to set the camera on my own. I have used the Auto Focus a few times but I like doing that also on my own. I also shoot Raw so which I think makes the camer a work faster than on Auto. All in all i am very happy with my "New Refurbished" camera it works better than I can spell. I fully plan to buy all my camera gear from Adorama just keep the prices low and I will keep coming back lol

The camera takes beautiful photos, it's fast, and very easy to use. The guide mode is great for beginners who are just learning all the different ways to capture certain photos and/or scenes. If you aren't sure how to do what you want, the camera will basically tell you how, it's amazing! And the resulting photos come out wonderfully.

This is my first camera so I like the price of it, and it has everything I would need. For a newbie at these machines I figured it out pretty fast and got pretty good at taking good pictures. I am really excited to get it outside in the bright light of the New England summer to take some better shots, especially of action. Its not the fastest camera ever, but it is surely fast enough.

The D3000 is very good entry level camera if you do not need video, or live view finder. I use it for product photography and taking pictures of people (No Sports/Action). This is good for backup camera.

The camera has very easy to use and find controls, refined auto-focus and user customizable setting. Very light and compact for a DSLR. Casual photography, scenery, landscape and candid shots. People should note the camera can produce high quality images when paired with Nikon's famed lenses. I chose the original 18-55 ED II lens, as opposed to the kit VR lens everyone buys, for the simple reason that the latter doesn't have ED glass.The pictures you can take with this camera and a Nikon DX ED lens are as good as any other Nikon camera can take. Megapixels are not the whole story. I also prefer a camera that doesn't have HD movie, or live view capabilities, and I feel I am taking good pictures, just like we did with ours film Nikons (how did we manage without live view?). In this configuration the battery lasts forever, and I can relax and just think at the picture I am taking, without the extra distracting frills of today super-consumer gadgets. I think I will enjoy this camera for a long time. Carrying it around is a real pleasure, and it's much lighter than the D5000, D90, or D-whatever. [...]

I purchased this camera originally as a backup camera to my wifes recent purchase of the d3100. But after using this camera, this is now my primary camera of choice and now both my wife and I can enjoy nature walks without having to fight for who gets to use the camera. I love the "Guide" as it is like having your own photography class instructor along with you on your walk. All the AF-S lenses are interchangeable between the cameras and the d3000 takes pictures that are right on par with higher end cameras. I have taken fantastic wildlife pictures since purchasing the camera. I can crop distant shots of birds in flight and enlarge to reveal crisp and beautiful pictures! The auto focus works extremely well and fast. The continuous shutter setting is quick and has resulted in capturing awesome pictures of birds in motion! My only regret is that I did not purchase a Nikon DSLR many years ago!

I bought this camera to replace a Nikon D60 that was stolen from me. The D3000 focuses quicker and with less hunting than the D60, and the larger LCD is a nice upgrade. I use this camera for work. I am an investigator and photograph everything from evidence to surveillance. I only had the D60 for about a year before it was stolen, but I am glad to have gotten the D3000. Checked out the D60, D90, and after much review and consideration of price, I decided on the D3000.
I wanted a camera that would catch moments that the smaller cameras took too long to focus... and thus I missed the shot. I have not been disappointed.
Adorama has the best price by far... and I have used Adorama over the past 20 years for photography supplies. You will not be disappointed in the camera or Adorama.

So I upgraded from a Kodak DX6490 and all I can say is amazing. This is my first Dslr and if I would have known how great it was I would have purchased one a long time ago. I like the fact that I have a lot more control. I am no longer missing "those" shots because my camera was to busy focusing and adjusting. At first I thought the D3000 was going to be too basic (entry level) but it does a lot more stuff than what I thought it would do and the pictures are great. Even in low light without flash pictures came out pretty good.

I purchased the D3000 just before we left on vacation. Seemed the quick start portion worked great out of the box. Started to get more familiar as the trip went on. I've taken this camera on two shoots already and i love it so far. With an 18-55 VR AF-S lens you can't really go wrong. I've used a few Nikon DSLR cameras before, much higher in their performance range but this is my first personal one and i don't regret it. Absolutely worth it even if it was refurbished, mainly because it was actually done by Nikon.

Only major irk is the long preview times and not having a video mode.
