Shutter priority with this camera allows precise toggling speed/ISO's to perfection. Froze raindrops during GSD schutzhund shoot last weekend... drops were in focus on focal plane with subject. Pretty awesome. Look close, you'll see the drops.

Comments about Nikon Nikon D3 Digital FX D-SLR Camera Body, 12.1 FX Format (23.9 x 36mm) CMOS Sensor - Refurbished by Nikon U.S.A.:

Anyone that has actually used a D3 will tell you that there is no comparison to any previously made Nikon (or Canon). I got the refurbished model to add an FX camera to our bag. I can honestly say that from here on out, I will not use any DX camera (with the exception of my D40 for family outings) again! Don't get me wrong, the D3 is big and heavy. With a large piece of glass like my 70-200/f2.8 VR, it is REALLY heavy! You can stop listening to Ken Rockwell for a moment, because you will probably want to use a tripod (instead of a monopod) with large zooms.

The best way to describe this camera is that it 'gets out of your way'. There are dedicated buttons for almost everything (i.e. WB, ISO, etc), and even customizable "function" buttons (the "Fn" button is one of my favorites on all my Nikon cameras). When you want to shoot fast, you can shoot fast (and I mean fast!). On the other hand, you can easily slow down and compose an image with finesse. I use this for weddings because I WANT to, not because I need to.

THE D3 IS OVERKILL FOR WEDDINGS AND PORTRAITS!!!

Buy it if you want, but the D700 is probably a better choice for wedding/events shooting. The D3 is starting to take the sports/action photography sector back from Canon, which is what this camera was designed for. However, if you want the fastest and most rugged camera around, go for it! The refurbished model worked perfectly and looked brand new! Mine had less than 400 shutter actuations when I go it! I've taken over 4000 in less than a month and the photos are amazing. I'm glad I bought it before the price adjusted up!

This isn't a camera to "cheap out" on lenses. Actually, you should cheap out on any lens, but definitely so with the D3. I don't understand the theory of putting $400 glass on a $4000 camera, but it is silly. I have the 24-70/f2.8 for weddings/events, but find myself using the 70-200 VR or the 24mm/f2.8 most of the time. I am going to splurge on the wide-zoom soon, but since I don't use the D3 for personal outings, I am finding it hard to fork over the cash.

Enjoy it and try to avoid pouring yogurt and apple sauce on it for a YouTube video!

Adorama , is by far my preferred Camera store in New York .

Not so Big , they can't give you individual attention and time.

Not so small , they can't give you a reasonable and fair price.

For these reasons, and many more, to long to list here.

I CALL ADORAMA FIRST !

Because I know they care about me. ( this has been tested ).

I AM A CUSTOMER FOR LIFE !
