Comments about Nikon Nikon D50 Digital SLR Camera Outfit, with 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6G ED AF-S DX Zoom Nikkor Lens - USA Warranty:

I was waiting for a DSLR with manual features that I could use with my studio equipment. Waited for the prices to come down, and this guy fit all my expectations. The old FTN is on the shelf now. Reasonably easy to figure out the controls. Amateurs can click and shoot with this. I prefer to shoot manually, but I find the program mode works so well I rarely go to manual. USB download time is reasonably quick. Standard 18-55 lens is great for most of my shots. I can use my old lenses in manual mode. On camera flash is a little feeble. Lot's of shots between battery recharges. This camera exceeded my expectations.

Comments about Nikon Nikon D50 Digital SLR Camera Outfit, with 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6G ED AF-S DX Zoom Nikkor Lens - USA Warranty:

This is not a professional DSLR. however good features for the $. The digital capture is excellent and the camera is of good construction but, does not provide the professional ruggedness and features of other Nikon DSLR's. If you are an average consumer or new to DSLR's and don't need the ruggedness and features of a more advanced DSLR this is your choice. The 18-55mm kit lens is superior in optical quality to most competitors kit lenses, but once again this is not a ruggedly built lens that will withstand rough use. If you need a grid screen, off camera flash control, depth of field preview look to another Nikon model. However, if you want a camera that is easy to learn, easy to use, with good resolution that can take pictures as beautiful as a Pro DSLR, this is your best bet.

This camera is a bargain!!! 95% of a d70 for hundreds less. Only problem - no backlight for lcd. Buy the 18-200 lens for a perfect combo.

does not operate
By baby nurse from brighton. ma on 9/6/2006
Cons:
Flimsy Construction, Not Enough Features, Not Good In Low Light

Comments about Nikon Nikon D50 Digital SLR Camera Outfit, with 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6G ED AF-S DX Zoom Nikkor Lens - USA Warranty:

flash does not work on full automatic: complicated to change ISO; unable to set camera to hold center focus, it insists on wandering focus. This is the wors camera I have ever bought and I have used an slr for over 30 years.
