Comments about Nikon Nikon D60 10.2 Megapixel Digital SLR Camera Outfit, with 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6G ED AF-S DX VR Zoom Nikkor Lens - USA Warranty:

I had delayed about getting a digital SLR, because I loved my Nikon Film SLR. The D60 made the transition painless. I chose this camera because of the ISO and that it didn't have video. I prefer a simple camera without too many gadgets. I am happy. More important my clients are happy with my work.

Comments about Nikon Nikon D60 10.2 Megapixel Digital SLR Camera Outfit, with 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6G ED AF-S DX VR Zoom Nikkor Lens - USA Warranty:

I spent many months researching which camera I wanted to enter the DSLR world with and decided on this one after rave reviews. Had been pricing it around town and online and found the best price from adorama which was a well respected website. Surprised at how great the uality of the pics are even on auto setting where guesswork is done by the camera. Was worried it would be too big to want to take to the park for pictures of the kids but it doesn't feel like a burden at all. Overall very happy with this product.

Comments about Nikon Nikon D60 10.2 Megapixel Digital SLR Camera Outfit, with 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6G ED AF-S DX VR Zoom Nikkor Lens - USA Warranty:

The camera is a fine piece of technology. It's robust and takes fine pictures. However, Nikon really cut corners with the user manual. The fonts are all faded, forcing the user to read the most boring of formats. There is no color whatsoever in the content.

It really reads and looks like it was prepared by an engineer.

If Nikon could understand the value of user friendly documentation, they would improve customer loyality and increase their bottom line.

The manual is accurate of course, just very boring and painfull to read.

Four days after receiving this camera (without a lot of time to review all it can do) I went to Alaska on a land and cruise vacation. With limited experience with this camera I produced pictures that excelled in clearity and color. At home, while viewing the photos I was very pleased with the landscapes and closeups.

I take nature/flower photos for prints. This camera gives me print quality, and as much as I love my Kodak Easyshare for casual use, when I'm serious, I take my Nikon. I love it. Just need to find good prices on more lenses.
I've taken fantastic shots with it. You can use it without complication, or use it almost like a Film camera (manual settings, f-stop, etc.)
Just a wonderful camera all around. Beats the film camera Macromax "macro" camera all to hell.

I am still learning the ends & outs of the cameras functions. But I love the great pictures. The Nikon D60 for Dummies is a big help. The cheat sheet that came with the camera is to small a print for me to read without glasses.

Comments about Nikon Nikon D60 10.2 Megapixel Digital SLR Camera Outfit, with 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6G ED AF-S DX VR Zoom Nikkor Lens - USA Warranty:

This is a great first SLR for a technical person wanting to get into photography as a hobby. I say this because it seems that the D40 kind of rests/relies on the presets, and the D80/90 is a little more money than you'd want to plop down on something you weren't sure of. As a technical person (I'm a software engineer with a decent background in other technical areas such as optics, machine-work etc) it's easy for me to grasp such things as aperture, shutter-speed, ISO sensitivity etc...

I primarily use this camera for taking pictures of straight-razors I restore and for taking landscape/terrain/outdoor photos. For what I do, I never use the presets, so it would be nice to have more than just one on-the-body control for settings. That said, the menu interface makes it _very_ easy to set the ISO sensitivity, which is the main thing I change that can't be done with the command dial.

Again, for the price, and considering that I'm just starting to adopt photography as a hobby, this camera is a perfect fit, regardless of the minor detraction of only one on-the-body settings control.

I thought that this was going to be the perfect camera for me. I was ridiculously excited when it arrived in the mail. But ultimately I was disappointed that it didn't have live-view on the LCD. I also didn't find the controls to be particularly ergonomic. I ended up returning it and purchasing a Canon XSi, which I am actually MUCH happier with. I am typically a Nikon person and own other Nikon lenses I could have used with this camera, but I am significantly happier to have now purchased the Canon XSi. I love it.

I use the D60 to take images of my family and scenery when on trips. I mainly wanted a DSLR because of the slow response time and frustration using a point and shoot camera. My problem is now solved with the D60, when I press the button it takes the picture and they typically turn out great.

I almost bought the D90 but just couldn’t justify spending that kind of money so the D60 was my choice, I bought the 55 to 200 zoom as well and don't regret my decision.

Bought this camera for my trip to Africa. The kit lens stunk. So I upgraded to the 18-200mm and was very happy with it. The zoom was definitely needed but it made the camera a bit heavy.

Controls were very easy to use. Also got the 50mm lens and it wasn't great at the auto focus. Good for taking shots of friends etc.

I don't get it. The D60 takes incredibly sharp pictures with great color rendition. A 'pro' or 'semi-pro' wouldn't be getting this camera anyway, but for someone who wants to take wonderful pictures and have LOTS of room to grow, the D60 is a bargain! I've held my shots up against the vaulted D200 side by side taken with the same lens and the D60 is actually BETTER in terms of hard sharpness in most cases. The difference is you go through menus to make many of the adjustments instead of having a button. But you do the exact same things! Good pics are more about the lens than the body. The D60 with good glass does not disappoint.

This is a good camera for a beginner. I would recommend, instead buying the D90 or the D40. If you get the D40 you can get a lens and/or a flash with money you saved by buying the D40. If you have a lot of money get the D90. It is a much better camera.

Mine just will not point auto focus in any mode. It does seem to have a built in depth of field preview but only slight so in low or extreme light it is impossible to see. I wondered why most of the images taken with it were slightly out of focus. It's not Adorama's fault, I didn't get it here but wish I had, they are a great place to shop. Out of 4 lenses only one gives me consistency. Maybe it's that the servo is in the lens and not the camera.
