Comments about Nikon Nikon D60 Digital SLR Camera Body Only, 10.2 Megapixel - Refurbished by Nikon U.S.A.:

I shoot FX but originally bought the D60 with a voigtlander 20 and 40 mm lens as a high quality goto combo instead of a point and shoot, and as a spare body for emergencies. Changed the focus screen to improve manual focus accuracy. It's a great little camera and the refurb appeared as new. Benefits from a fast card since write times are slow.

Comments about Nikon Nikon D60 Digital SLR Camera Body Only, 10.2 Megapixel - Refurbished by Nikon U.S.A.:

I purchased the refurbished D60 because I wanted a camera that was smaller, lighter, and less expensive than my D200 for snapshots and to take aboard research vessels in the marine environment (I'm a marine biologist). Even though I recently purchased a D7000 as an upgrade to the D200, I still take the D60 to places where I wouldn't want to take the more expensive cameras. It takes great photos and I'm very happy with it. It may not be able to use my non-CPU lenses, and it may not have the high ISO quality of the D7000, but I knew that when I got it and it does just what I wanted it to do. I would have no hesitation whatsoever recommending refurbished Nikon products.

I bought the refurbished D-60 as a back up to my new one and when it arrived it was dirty like it had been dropped and the continious frames stopped at three frames so returned it and the D-5000 had just came out so bought that for my main camera. I think one slipped through the cracks.I trust Nikon and have owned them for most of my life, I believe the refurbised camera to be OK, I just got a bad one.

The quality of the photos is wonderful, they are great for small format as well as large format posters.

Comments about Nikon Nikon D60 Digital SLR Camera Body Only, 10.2 Megapixel - Refurbished by Nikon U.S.A.:

I'm a first time SLR user. I looked for a few months on different websites for different brands and came across Adorama and their referbished products. Not wanting to spend the money on a new one (for my first SLR), I tried it out. I am thrilled by the fantastic pictures it takes and the quality of the body. After seeing the quality of the pictures, I went back and purchased two more lens' and filters also referb. The only disappointing thing about this camera is the viewfinder, I was used to a point and shoot and looking at a screen to find my subjects. However, I knew that the D60 did not have one on my purchase, so it really wasn't a big deal. If you are looking for a great camera, look no further... Great price-Great camera only at Adorama! Trust me, I've looked everywhere. [...] I will NOT purchase camera products anywhere else but Adorama! Way to go guys!

I bought my D60 after my D40 "disappeared" rather someone stole. I have a couple friends with the D60 and I'm glad I listened to them. I am very happy with my D60. While I am a beginner, I have taken some pretty amazing shots with this camera. It's easy to use and a wonderful camera for someone starting out just like me! I highly recommend it! And with Adorama, I got the camera in lightning speed time and in GREAT shape!

I take lots of photos from a kayak. I killed a Nikon D40X when I went upside down with my camera around my neck. This D60 camera replaced that D40x body. I like this camera better. It has newer features like sensor cleaning. The pictures just look a little better to me as well. I would rather have a D3, D700 or D300 but I would not want to risk it in my water sport.

Comments about Nikon Nikon D60 Digital SLR Camera Body Only, 10.2 Megapixel - Refurbished by Nikon U.S.A.:

What an amazing buy. I purchased this to use as our dedicated photo booth camera for events and weddings. Our other gear includes a D300 and a D700, so this is by far the lowest end - but still a real gem. I'm dutr it had the same 10.1MP CMOS sensor that's in the now-retired D200. For this price, you can't go wrong. We use it with a low-end, but decent, lens (Tamon Di-II 17-50mm pro) and it's simply great as a photo booth camera.

The funny thing is that it's so simple we find it a little hard to use (only one command dial, no up-top LCD, etc) - but again, for the intended usage, and for this killer price, can't go wrong. The only other thing I dislike is that you can't program the remote to be active for longer than 15 minutes, which is a nuisance.

Ours was spotless, and only had around 130 shutter actuations, and the battery was fully charged to boot. Seriously ... can't say enough good things. Nikon p0wn3z. You won't regret this purchase - get it and spend the money on some good glass. Great starter dSLR. A+

Just got mine in the mail today, my first time DSLR, so hang with me. Its a GREAT camera, I bought mine with a nikon 50mm 1.8 lens, sharpest cheap lens that money will buy you, without a doubt a versatile lens also. Easy menus, good shutter capabilites with the right amount of light, built in flash is pretty much junk, cant do more than 1/200 shutter speed with built in flash. GREAT under and overexposure for this price range, second to none quality in the sensor and lcd. If you are looking to buy a good, but cheaper dslr, get this one.

Just returned from a two week trip overseas and it took excellend shots, at fast shutter speed or night shots (took a little tweaking for best shots). Tip: take most shots with the flash inhibited!

Comments about Nikon Nikon D60 Digital SLR Camera Body Only, 10.2 Megapixel - Refurbished by Nikon U.S.A.:

Refurbished unit, good as new. A couple hot pixels, but I don't fret them as they're invisible unless I go hunting for them. Excellent image quality, sharp, vivid color. I use Auto ISO to cover low light conditions: ISO 1600 loses a little detail to noise reduction, but still usable.

I'm a techie, and was a serious amateur in the 80's. Came very close to getting a D90, but couldn't swallow the price for this, my first DSLR. So I wish the frame-rate were a little faster. Using Active-D Lighting all the time slows that down, as well as shooting in RAW. If I just shoot Normal JPG's it's not an issue.

I got the 18-105mm VR and 35mm 1.8 lenses. Both are crazy-sharp compared to what I was getting 20 yrs ago with my OM-2. Both have notable distortions: chromatic aberration and the zoom has barrel distortion at wide angle. Both can be corrected. The D90 would correct for the former in JPG. The D5000 could correct for both. So I'm burning a little time in a workflow which removes them in Nikon's ViewNX software, and then in Photoshop when the barrel distortion is noticeable. But I don't mean this as a complaint. Those cameras were 2.5-4x more $$$, so I'm getting great value and image quality out the D60.

Some online reviews ding the D60 for its over-saturation. I don't notice it a bit, and I have color-calibrated monitors. Coming from a digital compact, I'm impressed at how 'right' the D60 gets exposure and white balance. Things I used to have to compensate for regularly, are usually spot-on here. Also, I choose a single focus point for auto-focus, then recompose (aim) the picture. I find 'just' 3 focus points is fine. I get perfectly in-focus pictures.

So to summarize, I find the D60 a great photographic tool and a great bargain - capable of advanced results, even if it's aimed at entry-level. For less scutinizing photographers, I highly recommend it.

Comments about Nikon Nikon D60 Digital SLR Camera Body Only, 10.2 Megapixel - Refurbished by Nikon U.S.A.:

I only have it for a week. But so far so good. The picture it takes is amazing. It is very similar to my Nikon F4 analog camera, except there is no more auto focus. I wish they will work with my Nikon AF lens. But otherwise the photo low light ability, contrast, color is really good. There are a few more modes, functions, shutter speed, ISO settings, with the high end Nikon models, but this is good for most of my needs.

Comments about Nikon Nikon D60 Digital SLR Camera Body Only, 10.2 Megapixel - Refurbished by Nikon U.S.A.:

I can't believe this is actually refurbished......it seems brand new. There was not even a single smudge or finger print on the screen.

However, after a few days, and in hot temperatures, i had a single hot pixel show up in the bottom left corner, when shooting jpegs. Considering how prevalent hot pixels are in digital cameras anyway, and the fact that they don't appear when shooting in camera RAW, i don't think this is a significant problem.

Just like the camera condition, the actual attributes of the camera make this an excellent buy. There are easily customizable shooting settings, good white balance customization, relatively low noise at 800 ISO and below, and overall great image quality. The battery life is also top notch. Speaking of noise though, i don't mind the look of the noise on this camera at 800 ISO above because it looks identical to film grain, and not that silly chroma noise found on low end cameras and camcorders.

I could go on and on about the things i like in this camera, so i'll skip to the drawbacks and let you look up a full review to get an idea of the specific highlights of the model.

For one, using both the exposure lock and focus lock simultaneously is a bit cumbersome and can be difficult if shooting quickly. Using one or the other is easy and intuitive however.

I don't really like the fact that no image stabilization is built into the camera, but at least the VR lenses do their job well.

Now, in terms of shutter lag, it's fast, but by no means the fastest i've worked with. However, If you are moving up from a point and shoot camera you will be pleasantly surprised.

Despite these small issues, i highly recommend it, and rate it a 5 out of 5.

After reading the reviews on refurbished Nikons, I made the plunge and haven't looked back. I received the D60 in brand-new condition, with all the included accessories. It has exceeded my expectations, and has performed without a hitch.[...]I have since made several purchases and am very pleased with their [...] products.I have taken several hundred photos of my grandkids that have turned out great. It has been so easy to operate, that I have assisted my 7 yr old grandaughter in taking several shots, with great results. Now it is hard to get the camera away from her!

Comments about Nikon Nikon D60 Digital SLR Camera Body Only, 10.2 Megapixel - Refurbished by Nikon U.S.A.:

I am graduating from a digital that did a good job and had a built in 18X optical zoom to my refurbished Nikon D60 with the ability to accept a variety of lens. I had hoped to use my E Series lens but quickly concluded that while useable (Manual mode; no metering) it was like driving a race car just in the driveway. Being cheap I sprang for a 18-105 refurbished VR lens and will accept that it is quality because it is a Nikon.
The challenge is the D60's manual and the camera itself...not for beginners if you expect to use the bells and whistles. I am wading through it but then I have been taking pictures for 40 years. I can understand why the local camera store offers classes.

Verg good beginner camera from Nikon. Can't use legacy lenses. Battery life is very good. Auto focus is very good. Too small to mount longer lenses-it unbalances it.

You can't beat this camera at [$]. It;s a D40x with Dust Removal. Refurbished, can tell no difference from the new cameras I've bought in the past. I bought one just to send it out to be converted to an infrared camera. When the conversion is complete I will have spent about [$] for a fully functional infrared DSLR that accepts all of my Nikon Lenses. Heck a good infrared filter costs a few hundred all by itself and you need a tripod and get so so results. I'll be hand holding mine. I got my infrared conversion at Lifepixel.

Light in weight heavy in functions

Comments about Nikon Nikon D60 Digital SLR Camera Body Only, 10.2 Megapixel - Refurbished by Nikon U.S.A.:

[...] It looks no different from a new camera. The body only option suits my need as I already have a few AF-S lens. The compact size of this DSLR means I can carry it most of the time while traveling, without adding too much weight to my bag. The 10 mpxl sensor provides enough detail for most of my landscape shots. The dust off function is a plus compared to D80, so is the EXPEED image processing engine. It's easy to use, and has most of the features of a DSLR plus some built-in image retouch and processing options. Overall, I like the camera and expect to use it more often than with my other heavier "full featured" DSLRs.
