Comments about Nikon Nikon D7000 Digital SLR Camera Kit with 18-105mm DX VR Lens, U.S.A. Warranty:
I have used every Nikon mader over the last 25 years and this one may be the best yet. I say this because when I compare a camera I look at the prices verses the performance. There are more expensive Nikon cameras but in comparison to the D7000 they aren't much better. The only area where this camera may fall short is in high speed sports action. But for anything else it is a winner. The price is great and the performance rivals any pro level DSLR.

The autofocus is very fast along with very short shutter lag time. Image quality is excellent. In short this is a fantastic value for the money. If your lens is not up to standard, the image quality will show with the resolution of this sensor in this camera.

If you are debating buying this camera and are researching here is my advise. Just stop reading and buy this camera. My copy is remarkable in every way. Fast auto focus, durable, and awesome controls. I am also getting better exposures due to the higher dynamic range of the new sensor and the new metering system. Despite some internet rumors, I have no hot pixels and my auto focus is dead on (tested with Nikon 60mm 2.8 afs). ISO performance is out standing. With Lightroom I can get clean pictures upwards of ISO 3200! Even pictures taken at ISO 6400 are very usable. Combined with some fast glass such as a Nikon 35mm 1.8 afs or a 50mm 1.8d the camera is a low light beast! The camera is very responsive and there is very little mirror black out. I bought my D7000 here at Adorama with the 18-105mm lens. The lens is what I call high-end consumer grade. It feels very well built and provides good picture quality, but the lens is not going to take a beating so don't be to rough with it. I would recommend buying the MB-D11 battery grip as well. The grip has the same rubber and mag alloy build as the D7000 and adds a lot to the camera in terms of handling and controls. It also helps to balance heavier lenses, and also allows for the use of AA batteries to power your camera.

This is my first Nikon DSLR camera. I am very satisfied with it. The build quality is superb. The image quality is outstanding, even with the 18-105mm kit lens.
I classify myself as a casual photographer and so this camera is plenty to serve my purposes. But I wouldn't go for anything less (unless budget was a real concern). As I get to own this camera longer I hope to learn and make use of all the powerful features that this camera has to offer.
Comments about Nikon Nikon D7000 Digital SLR Camera Kit with 18-105mm DX VR Lens, U.S.A. Warranty:
My last camera was a Nikon D40x, a lightweight, small camera. The D7000 is bigger and heavier, but I think I'll like it simply because I like the solid feel in my hands when shooting. I shoot mostly outdoors - nature, scenic and wildlife - and the D7000 is a no-brainer kind of camera. I've tried it with my 70-300mmVR and it's fast and fantastic!

Comments about Nikon Nikon D7000 Digital SLR Camera Kit with 18-105mm DX VR Lens, U.S.A. Warranty:
I changed my D200 for this one with a little concern of getting a lower quality body. In terms of build quality this may be true but just by a little, altough you are getting a lighter body. In terms of performance this is not true at all, is faster and has a superb image quality (noise and DR), its a pro body compacted in a light weight shell and yet quite solid.

Comments about Nikon Nikon D7000 Digital SLR Camera Kit with 18-105mm DX VR Lens, U.S.A. Warranty:
Felt dinky in my hands and unbalanced with longer lenses. Seemed like a step down from the FA, F100 and D200 that I own and have enjoyed for many years. Already have an 18-200 lens [...]D200 still taking great pix so I decided to [...] wait for the D400 to come out.

Comments about Nikon Nikon D7000 Digital SLR Camera Kit with 18-105mm DX VR Lens, U.S.A. Warranty:
Nikon D80 owner, my wife loved the camera. I upgraded to full-frame Nikon D700. I loved it but my wife wouldn't touch it. Too heavy, too expensive. So much better in low light situations vs. the D80 due to the sensor. Now here comes the D7000. I had to sell my D700 to maintain a one camera family. It is the only camera I would have settled for that my wife would consider easy to use yet could do the things I needed it to do. Solid build feels like the D700 but lighter, much more professional feel than the D80. Thought I would hate the autofocus on the HD video, and it is noisy, but I don't mind manually focusing either. The LCD screen is big enough and bright enough to ascertain if the subject is in focus. Frames-per-second every bit as fast as my D700. Just took pictures of my kids sledding in my back yard in Atlanta on the CH setting - super fast. Great, crisp photos. Love the 2 slots for the SD cards with the ability to choose how to use the 2nd card. I have an 8GB in slot1 for photos and a 16GB in slot2 for video. 18-105mm kit lens on a crop camera is wide enough for family photos. I would prefer the 18-200mm Nikkor lens for extra zoom but didn't have the extra money. Only thing I would change is it is not as easy as the D700 to change the ISO setting on the fly. What a great camera for the price, though. I am a huge D7000 fan. Considered the D3100 but with 2 kit lenses (18-55mm and 55-200 or 300mm) you didn't have enough zoom on the 18-55mm and the 55mm on a crop camera is too long for a walk around lens with kids). Glad I spent the extra money on the D7000...so is my wife.
