Comments about Nikon Nikon D90 12.3 Megapixel Digital SLR Camera Body with DX Format CMOS Sensor - Refurbished by Nikon U.S.A.:

I bought this camera several months ago and have used it a couple of times for photo shoots in a local town, as well as odds and ends here and there. The D90 definitely has more user-friendly options and several extra features that my first camera (Nikon D40) doesn't. The video feature on the D90 is fun to play around with, but it really isn't that useful since there is no autofocus. The D90 has held up fine so far, despite being accidently dropped from 3-4 feet onto solid pavement (my lens protector broke, but other than that both the camera and lens were fine). All-in-all a good camera that I would recommend any photo enthusiast or pro photographer should have in their collection.

I never retouched a single photo, good accurate focus, color, and perfect lighting. All taken from a poor view point, under trees and light condition changing constanly. The real test will be taking Elk Pictures this fall in low light conditions. Impressive camera [...] All my future purchases will be done here.

Comments about Nikon Nikon D90 12.3 Megapixel Digital SLR Camera Body with DX Format CMOS Sensor - Refurbished by Nikon U.S.A.:

Have had two of these in a row - the second one replacing the first, which was a lemon. And, lo and behold, they both turned out to be citruses - not to mention, huge and costly wastes of time. The problem? The same for both: focus focus. Miserably soft images, which granulate in anything but the brightest sunshine, and which no amount of pre- and post-production sharpening and fine-tuning can salvage. For my purposes, this has been a disaster since I run an NGO in Rwanda, where this camera is meant to earn its keep. Instead, it has cost us real time and real money, neither of which we can afford to lose. In return, Nikon - which until now, has had our trust - has lost a customer. [...]

Comments about Nikon Nikon D90 12.3 Megapixel Digital SLR Camera Body with DX Format CMOS Sensor - Refurbished by Nikon U.S.A.:

I am a teacher, a part-time college photography instructor, and a free-lance travel photographer. I have three Nikon D90s and they give me the quality I need at a great price.

I use the D90 for travel photography wildlife photography, white-water rafting trips, mountain bike trips, road bike trips, river cruises, nature photography, and some studio work with the CLS flash system. They work - and they work every time.

I love them, my editors love the files, and my students love the fact that they too can own the same camera as the instructor ... in fact, I have several that own "bigger cameras". Bigger camera does not always mean better images.

I tell them, and show them, that it is not the camera. It does what I want and that is all I need. In fact, in some places, I like the fact that I do not have the big pro looking cameras ... In many of the countries I am sent, I don't want to look like a "pro" photographer, I just want to blend in.

There are reasons why I use the top "consumer" camera(s). Good reasons. In fact, three good reasons! D-90. D-90. D-90. Simple.

Comments about Nikon Nikon D90 12.3 Megapixel Digital SLR Camera Body with DX Format CMOS Sensor - Refurbished by Nikon U.S.A.:

Everything about this camera is great, except that 5/10 times it does not take a picture. Whenever I try to take a close up shot of an object, the camera does not focus the object, and thus doesn't take a picture. The camera also doesn't take pictures when it is held at an angle tilting downwards. This is extremely annoying.

I have been using this camera for about 2 months and I am very much happy with my purchase. I don't have to tell you how great D90 is. The fact that even after 3 years of its introduction, D90 is still the best camera available today for entry-level to even pro level photographers.

I bought this with two lenses:
1) Nikon 50mm 1.8D AFS lens
2) Nikon 70-300mm AFS ED VRII lens

I own 4 Nikon DSLR's(FX & DX) as well as older 35mm Nikon camera's. I wouldn't thing twice about grabbing the D90, especially for general photography.
It is much lighter than my other camera bodies and just as capable in many situations. I would recomend the D90 as a wise investment price wise. It also can uses both DX & FX lenses, a big plus. This camera is also for novice photographer's interested in, and willing to, take the time to learn and take great shot's.

Comments about Nikon Nikon D90 12.3 Megapixel Digital SLR Camera Body with DX Format CMOS Sensor - Refurbished by Nikon U.S.A.:

Upon its release, the D90 became the best Nikon I've ever owned - and I've shot commercial stills & fashion for 2 decades. The interface is fantastic, the controls laid out so you can "work and not think" on your first day. Add the MDB80 grip and the form factor becomes perfect. If you're buying to shoot DSLR video... I prefer the look of the D90 to Canon's video, but shooting manually is impossible - only shooting with aperture-ring lenses gives you a "close to manual" setup (where you still don't know what ISO you're at) and the sensor has jello and skew that will kill many shots.

The D90 is only limited by the user. It will take professional photos with the best of cameras. I have used 2500 iso to capture a large bird in flight with exciting detail...there was noise of course but the photo was still sharp and detailed. You could buy a $5000 camera and $2000 dollar lens and get less noise but noise would still be there..
I shoot early morning shots and sunrises and sunsets and evening light shots. I use iso 200 for these landscapes and multiple shot panoramas with perfect photos. My largest prints are 16 x 24 and the detail is perfect. Check out comparison detail online with other cameras. The d90 is a great camera limited only by your's or my ability to compose the photo.

Comments about Nikon Nikon D90 12.3 Megapixel Digital SLR Camera Body with DX Format CMOS Sensor - Refurbished by Nikon U.S.A.:

Even with the newer nikon equipment I truely feel this is still a great camera. Very solid build. My only gripe would be that it gets a little noisy above iso800.

I rented a Nikon D3s and a D700 for an Africa trip and also had the D90 as a backup. I used the D90 for half of a day and never used it again. I sold the D90 as soon as I returned to the US and purchased a Nikon D3s and have NEVER been more pleased with a camera.

This camera is in every way as good as the new product. I believe that it will fulfill all my still photo needs for years to come.

Particularly impressive are all the professional features available to the user: Full manual override of shutter speed, aperture, focus, ISO speed. These are easily accessed and adjusted. It also has an excellent automated system for any or all these functions for when you want the camera to do that work for you.

I am extremely happy with this purchase.

Comments about Nikon Nikon D90 12.3 Megapixel Digital SLR Camera Body with DX Format CMOS Sensor - Refurbished by Nikon U.S.A.:

I've had many, many camera's over the years. I like this camera from the moment I removed it from the box. I couldn't wait to use it.I got great results from the first shot. I think this is the best camera for the price. Is there a better camera on the market? Yes there is, and it's only twice the price. So if you can afford it, my favorite is the Nikon D7000. And I think its worth the difference. But in the end, you are going to end up with great pictures either way. So its your money, you decide. The D90 is also lighter, and easier to carry around all day. I take both of these cameras with me every time I go out on a shoot. You can't go wrong with either one. . .[...] Good luck, and good shooting.

Perfect camera for the price. Bought this camera refurbished and no one would ever suspect that. It looked brand new. It works like a charm and the picture quality is excellent. I debated over the D7000 and the D90 but had not saved enough money to afford the D7000 and wanted to start shooting this year! I am not disappointed in this purchase.

After much debate and a limited amount of saved financial resources...I decided to buy the Nikon D90. I was advised to skip it and go straight to the D7000. BUT, I didn't want to wait another year to be able to start shooting!! I am NOT disppointed in my purchase. The refurbished D90 could have fooled anyone...it looked as though it came out of a NEW Nikon box. The camera was awesome. It was so easy to pick up and start using. The manual was good enough to get even the most amateur photographer started. If you are on a fixed budget then the refurbished D90 will not disappoint!

Comments about Nikon Nikon D90 12.3 Megapixel Digital SLR Camera Body with DX Format CMOS Sensor - Refurbished by Nikon U.S.A.:

Its not perfect but it is pretty good for what you pay for. According to DXOmark sensor test, this camera actually has a better sensor than anything else under $3000. Looking at the results, it has the same quality as the Nikon D7000 without the extra few ISO stops.

Having used the D300s, the D90 just feels slightly less responsive as far as focus. I photograph mostly models and they don't move that fast so its not a problem. Great camera for sure.

I did a lot of research over about 4 months to choose a dslr camera. IT was between the Canon 60D and the Nikon D90. The reason I chose the D90, was because of the price, and the lenses are also a bit less that Canon lenses. But overall, this is a reall good camera. I am not dissapointed. It is also a highly recommended camera by many pro-photographers.

If you are into buying a dslr camera, get the Nikon D90 refurbished (as good as new) and rather invest in a good lens than buying a really expensive camera.

The d90 refurb comes with all the accessories that a new one does and to be honest it looks like a brand new camera as well . Comments about Nikon Nikon D90 12.3 Megapixel Digital SLR Camera Body with DX Format CMOS Sensor - Refurbished by Nikon U.S.A.:

I haven't had a chance to even use or test my factory-reconditioned d90 body. Right out of the box, the memory card slot on mine couldn't physically lock the card into place for some reason. I verified that the SD and SDHC cards were the right variety, so it's a camera problem.I just shipped it back to Nikon at my expense. I was hoping that a reconditioned unit would have been even more closely inspected than a factory-fresh unit. This may be the last time I buy a reconditioned item. [...]

Comments about Nikon Nikon D90 12.3 Megapixel Digital SLR Camera Body with DX Format CMOS Sensor - Refurbished by Nikon U.S.A.:

Had to return camera after 1st use. Kept showing error messages. Cost to much for me to get no satisfaction when I complained to Nikon. I had to pay to send the camera to Nikon to be repaied under warranty. The camera was a month old and having problems. I requested a new camera instead of repairs because the camera cost too much and I felt it was a lemon. Nikon would not honor my request so I took the camera back to the store I purchased it from. I do not want another Nikon after this experience. I own Nikon cameras, Kodak, Sony, and other brands that I have had for years and they still work. I just upgrade my cameras because I like taking good pictures. Nikon was my first choice but now I am looking at other brands.

This is my first DSLR and I love it so far. It has been relatively easy to figure out for my first one. My wife has also used it a little with good results. I spent the extra money because I was afraid the D5000 would be small for my hands (I'm 6'-7" w/ xxl glove size). The D90 is still a tad small but very doable for me and is still easy to hold on to. It is still not too big for my wife, whose hands are much smaller.

Comments about Nikon Nikon D90 12.3 Megapixel Digital SLR Camera Body with DX Format CMOS Sensor - Refurbished by Nikon U.S.A.:

I own/owned about 10 Nikon bodies over the past few years, growing from an enthusiast to now a professional wedding photographer. This refurbished D90 is by far the best value I've ever spent on all bodies. No this camera won't rival the D700 in image quality, and it doesn't beat the D200/300/300s for the controls and build, and it sure isn't a professional body. But this very lightweight compact D90 has an awesome LCD screen and would give any of its bigger siblings a run of it's money. The controls and design continue to inherit from the previous generations of great Nikon camera bodies, and it shares more traits with the lower end enthusiast cameras than the pro bodies. But don't let that fool you into believing this is a cheap camera. It's high ISO performance and overall image quality absolutely is amazing, especially consider I only paid [$] I remember I paid something like that for my Nikon D50 many years ago, and that was considered a great entry level camera.Overall this camera is more than most enthusiast would ever need in terms of image quality. With the DX format you can save a bit on the more expensive FX professional lenses, and this camera uses the cheaper SD cards rather than CF cards. Everything else feels just like home if you're already familiar with the Nikon controls. It's so easy and intuitive that I never even bothered taking out the manual, and this is particularly great for beginners with a control dial and programmed modes rather than the D300/700/3 series with A/M/P/S modes only. This should be particularly a great camera for travel due to its weight comparing to the D300s. But for the more seasoned enthusiasts or professionals who demand solid build and quick access to the controls, or values the 51-point AF system, then look one model higher for the D300s or D700 for full frame.

The camera came in perfect condition, they say "refurbished", but I can't find a scratch, ding, dent or imperfection on it. Even the LCD screen cover looks brand new. The camera takes great pictures, especially in low light, thanks to the automatic ISO. The dial for selecting photo types is incredibly convenient, makes it easy to get the camera settings right in a flash, excuse the pun, and never miss a beat! On top of that, the 12+ megapixel senor and all the flexibility, smaller size and ability to take HD video at 24fps makes it a superb camera. I'm glad i sold my D200 and picked up the D90. You won't regret buying this camera!

How many shutter acuations did mine have?
Only 230. Perfect!!!

Comments about Nikon Nikon D90 12.3 Megapixel Digital SLR Camera Body with DX Format CMOS Sensor - Refurbished by Nikon U.S.A.:

My first D-SLR. Bought it for the relatively fast shutter speeds and autofocus. Resolutions seem very nice. Easy to use, every time I mess with it I discover a new feature. Though I am no pro, the controls seem much more intuitive than my Canon digital cameras. The multitude of buttons are far better and faster to use than one button having multple functions layered in a menus and sub menus.

I was looking to upgrade from my trusty D50 and had already planned on a D90. After seeing that Adorama had refurbished cameras and calling to check their origin, I went for it and love it. It might as well have been new. By the way this was my first purchase from Adorama and will certainly not be my last.

Comments about Nikon Nikon D90 12.3 Megapixel Digital SLR Camera Body with DX Format CMOS Sensor - Refurbished by Nikon U.S.A.:

This has to be one of the best bargains out there in the Nikon photography world. My D90 arrived today with a shutter count of 5! I looked very closely at the entire body and I could not distinguish this as anything other than than brand new. No scratches, no marks, not even on the plastic cover on the rear LCD cover; I can't describe how happy I am. Much of the time in life you get what you pay for, but this time I got much more than I paid for with the D90 refurb.
Thank you Adorama!

Comments about Nikon Nikon D90 12.3 Megapixel Digital SLR Camera Body with DX Format CMOS Sensor - Refurbished by Nikon U.S.A.:

I use this camera for pretty much anything. I prefer it to my D200, as it blows it right out of water at higher ISO's. It lacks few features that its older bothers have (D200,D300 and above)but it packs a powerfull punch. Amazing picture quality. Videos are good, but as all reviews say, if thats what you are getting it for, youre looking at a wrong item. Also you DO have the option of pro lenses and some creative options that you cant do with basic camcorders.
All in all this was one of the best purchases of my life. Getting the refurbished item from Adorama did make me a bit nervous even after reading other reviews, but just like everyone else said it, your doubts will be gone the moment you open that package. My exif data showed the first shot to have been its 321 st. I also combined it with MB-D80 battery grip from Adorama which as I reviewed works great. I would highly recommend

Was choosing b/w this camera and switching to Canon. Use with 50 1.8, 85 1.8, 180 2.8. THe results are strong, reactions are fast, re-touch ability is quite nice. Large enough for my large hands w/o needing battery pack. Graduated from a well used d50 and am so glad. Could not reproduce the Nikon glass with Canon for less than a mint and like the ease of transition from d50. Am actually thinking of adding a Zeiss 50 1.4 to the collection because of the great low light ability with this d90. This was a solid purchase and for the price, a no-brainer.

Comments about Nikon Nikon D90 12.3 Megapixel Digital SLR Camera Body with DX Format CMOS Sensor - Refurbished by Nikon U.S.A.:

I am totally happy with my experience with Adorama. For six months I had waffled between buying the Nikon D300 or the D90. After much research into both cameras and the noticeable difference in price I decided to go with the D90. Now I was faced with the option of buying new or saving a few hundred dollars going with a refurbished body. [...]I can not tell that this was not a brand new body. Flawless with no scratches what so ever. There was one tiny item missing from the accessory box. One of the rubber grips to hold the strap on was missing. Not a big deal, the strap is so secure it is fine with out it. Just having it on makes the strap look a little nicer. The only little issue I have found is that on viewing the photos on playback on the LCD screen is that the image is SLIGHTLY fuzzy for a slit second before becoming sharp. I called Nikon and was told by a Nikon rep that this was normal for this model. Nothing I can't live with. I have upgraded from a Nikon D70 and there is a big difference. The LCD is so much larger and easier to easier to see. Controls are well placed and easy to get to. Only having had it a week I have yet to explore all the possibilities that this wonderful camera has to offer.

Comments about Nikon Nikon D90 12.3 Megapixel Digital SLR Camera Body with DX Format CMOS Sensor - Refurbished by Nikon U.S.A.:

I'm just a casual photographer at this point, but wanted to break into the DSLR world without over- or under-buying on my first camera. Since I'm just getting started, I wasn't already set on a particular brand. I did due diligence across Canon, Nikon, Olympus, and Pentax. After literally months of researching online and hands-on trials, I settled on the Nikon D90.

The key decision points for me were class-leading battery life, a continuous frame rate that split the difference between entry-level models and the top of the pro-sumer class, and almost universal praise for the low-light performance and all-around image quality of the camera.

The 720p video capability is just "gravy." It's great that it's there, but it didn't make or break the deal. That said, the videos are great. The sound isn't great, but what do you expect from an internal microphone like this?

Another great point about the D90 is that it has an in-body auto-focus motor, so it can use "non-G" Nikon lenses. I believe all current models with a number <90 do not.

I bought this as a refurb, which only sweetened the deal. So far, it's indistinguishable from a brand-new camera.

Comments about Nikon Nikon D90 12.3 Megapixel Digital SLR Camera Body with DX Format CMOS Sensor - Refurbished by Nikon U.S.A.:

Buy refurbished model along with extended warranty (3 year), it will come out less expensive and more coverage. Camera body shows VERY few signs of previous ownership (LCD had two marks from the protective cover - no scratches), battery, and body lens cover had scratches - not new, the rest of the accessories looked new. I am extremely happy with the upgrade from OLYMPUS E330. I shoot wide angle with 11-18mm Tamron, also purchased Nikon 50mm f1.8 lens with this body, it is perfect, flash is on its way. The only bad thing about Nikon is that they discontinued SB-800 flash (this was one of the reasons I chose Nikon over Canon). Colors are perfect, less bulky than D300, I have large hands and D90 fits perfectly. Overall - HIGHLY RECOMMENDED! [...]

Comments about Nikon Nikon D90 12.3 Megapixel Digital SLR Camera Body with DX Format CMOS Sensor - Refurbished by Nikon U.S.A.:

Completely pleased with the camera, and the quality of Nikon Refurbs. Well worth saving your money and getting a lens, or other tidbits... LIKE A NEW SCREEN COVER! That is the only thing keeping it from 5 stars. Refurbs come with all new accessories like a battery, charger, strap, etc. What they didn't replace was the screen cover. Why not replace the cheapest of the accessories? The one supplied with my camera is pretty well scratched up, so I will have to order a new one soon.
Other than that? It's a great camera. Once you set up the camera with "My Menu", it's easy to use, provides GREAT results straight from the camera and shoots like a dream. I upgraded from a different Nikon, thinking that the "novelty" of the Live Screen would not get used and I was wrong about that! Live View transforms the way I shoot. I use the viewfinder and Live View about equally, but it is great to be able to choose! On the 4th of July, I put the camera on a tripod, turned on Live View and shot with the great ML-L3 remote (buy one!!). I was taking great firework pics from the comfort of my lawn chair without having to crank my neck up to see through the view finder.

Comments about Nikon Nikon D90 12.3 Megapixel Digital SLR Camera Body with DX Format CMOS Sensor - Refurbished by Nikon U.S.A.:

I had outgrown my D40 & was torn between the D300 & the D90. I tested them out at my local camera shop & went with the D90. It's lighter then the D300, though it doesn't have as much weatherproofing on it.

The D90 is MUCH better than the D40. I would say it's 3x the camera. Much better controls. You can't change the D40's settings on the fly, you have to enter the menu. With the D90, you don't even have to take your eye off the viewfinder. Which, since I shoot almost exclusively in Manual, is very handy to me.

I bought a 15-105mm lens to go with my body & I have to say that both purchases were money WELL spent.

Thank you so much Nikon & Adorama! You've brought a whole new thrill to photography for me! Such crisp pictures & colors. SO much depth now! It's fantastic. I highly recommend this camera AND this retailer!

Plenty of reviews cite the numerous virtues of this camera re. image quality and features. I want to add that, although the menus are long, in practice, the camera is very easy to use once you have set things up the way you want them. The important controls are well-arranged so that adjustments can easily be made while shooting. Maybe I should also mention that this is a "refurb," and if it's Not absolutely brand new, it's impossible to tell. Oh, one minor quibble. First day, the monitor "condom" fell off and broke (on a wood floor). A small annoyance amidst overwhelming satisfaction

Comments about Nikon Nikon D90 12.3 Megapixel Digital SLR Camera Body with DX Format CMOS Sensor - Refurbished by Nikon U.S.A.:

I did nearly six months of research prior to choosing the D90, but was sad to see, when it arrived, that the images were all but useless due to 8 very bright hot pixels on my sensor. The D90 does not map these and they are visible even at high ISO equivalency 100 setting. But at ISO400 and above they are glaringly bright.

They can be removed by using Raw only photography and hot pixel mapping software like Lightroom, but I was not happy and wanted the problem fixed, so I contacted support. So far, they have opted not to answer me.

A little independent research showed that the warranty will cover getting the pixels remapped, but you have to pay shipping, which feels pretty dirty given that I just shelled out a lot of money for a camera I can't use.

A quick google search of "D90 dead pixels" will reveal that this is hardly an isolated problem. Combined with (in my experience) unresponsive support and a having to ship your own unit in, this has been a very disappointing experience.

Very sad mark against and otherwise excellent camera.

At 800 the extra speed helps wildlife and dim lighting, yet is noise is hardly noticeable and easily corrected in computer.
I am glad I saved the money for other useful photo bits.
I also bought the Belkin protective cover and it fits superbly.

I've been wanting to upgrade from my D40 for about some time now and finally I've done it. The D90 is a huge upgrade from my D40. The D90 captures blacks well and reds. It's screen res is next to none, and the performance in high ISO although not the best is still great.

you don't need A D300. Unless you do sports or photograph in the rain. or just like waisting money. The D90 has better ISO anyways. not as far as stops but as far as IQ goes. The D300 gives you the speed and size the D90 is missing. a good fix for this is to get the MB-D80.

Also I bought the refurb. I can't tell it's not new. I got everything rapped the only difference is you get a 90 Day warranty and a nikon refurb box.

I sold my D80 for this one to take advantage of latest features. Nikon did a good job refurbished this camera, look like new inside out, shutter was used around 500 shots. Didn't feel any different with my last camera body that I bought brand new except the warranty period was shorten to 90 days vs full 1 year.

Don't hesitate to buy one of these refurbished D90s. They arrive in a box from Nikon, in like new condition (almost perfect), with brand new accessories. Save yourself the money, take advantage of this while you can! I am so glad I did!

I am an art teacher and artist. I need to shoot work for the 3d ap portfolio. The lighting options are a huge help. I also like to set up paintings first with my camera to use as a resource for my landscapes and portraits. The only thing is the learning curve .... it is up there.

I bought this as an upgrade from my Nikon D70. What an improvement! Takes excellent photos, right out of the box, using most factory default settings. Action photos of grandkids come out great.

I have wanted this camera for a long time, but didn't quite want to spend the money. Then I saw a "refurbished" price a couple hundred dollars cheaper (camera+lens) than the going rate. Most discussion threads say that factory refurb units are as good as new. I totally agree. If you are looking to buy this camera and want to save some bucks, then this is the way to go.

The only weakness I can see is that the white balance indoors with incandescent lighting leaves photos a bit yellow. That issue can be corrected with white balance.

Looking to buy a great dslr camera? This is it!!
