Kids love these camera's, but I would be completely annoyed with the short battery life (40 flash pictures) and the long shutter delay.

As an easy to use comact point and shoot digital camera, the Olympus Stylus 550 is a great choice. The photos are clear and with the image stability feature shots taken in the water are too. Easy to navigate menus, and quick playback make it easy to share pics even without the software.
