I evaluated many cameras from 5 brands before settling on this unit. The in depth reviews helped a lot but price of all equipment won me over. Lenses are better and cost much less for Pentax. Many other brands of lenses will work on this camera in manual focus or all manual. The performance of the camera and functions are outstanding. you have to double or triple your expenditure to match it with the major brands and that does not include lenses! That is also double or more than triple.

I'm a rookie dslr user. This camera was made for people like me. Also, my first purchase through Adoorama. I'm completely satisfied with my purchase. The camera is very easy to use right out of the box. I took it to Austin and took some great photos of the wildflowers. Next i will learn the other features but so far i cant stop taking photos.

Low light results verge on the spectacular: handheld (even with slowish kit lenses) is very feasible. A streetlamp, even moonlight, may be all you need. At the other extreme, the fast focus and rapid burst rate promote solid action shots. The only real downer is the lack of an HDMI output; that can be resolved with an HD CARD reader. I'd also dream of a higher res viewfinder, and weather seals, but then it would be a K-7! Finally, it's kind of cool to show up with a Pentax--makes me feel, well, kinda cool!
