The DVD starts out with a walk around the camera and a brief explaination of each knob, dial and button. From there the instruction goes inside the camera and does a great job explaining the menus, how to access them and what the menu items do. The presenter covers almost every menu item, leaving out only the ones that will be least accessed by most viewers. The descriptions are easy to understand and put to use. The tutorial stay's on point but does lightly touch on some more technical items as they apply to the topic.
The occasional opinions from the presenter are minimal yet helpful. This is an excellent learning aide for those who prefer a visual learning experience as a supplement to written materials. The format is broken down by chapters which make it easy to re-visit specific topics as often as you like.
This DVD is specifically designed to show a person how the Nikon D40 works and does an excellent job, for that I give it 5 stars.
