Thrilled to add another L series lens with capabilities I hadn't dreamed of using. The lens is a little heavier than I thought it would be, about the same as the 24mm - 70 mm. Very uniform zoom and hardy construction. If only the price weren't so high.

I have used this lens at 16mm for multiple images stitched together of interiors and landscapes with excellent results. Prints of 16"x 36" impress even me, a very harsh critic of my own work.

It is simply a necessity if you have a full frame or 1.3x crop canon. [...] I find that about 1/2 of all my shots with this lens are done at f2.8. In dim light having f2.8 means the difference between ISO800 shot and ISO1600 shot.

This one of my favorite lens. However,I do wish Canon had incorporated image stablilization making it even more useful in low light situations.

This is my third, and most expensive l-series lens, and it is everything I expected. It has a solid build and quality feel. It focuses very fast and is very sharp. The f2.8 is great for lower light situations such as weddings and interior shots without a flash. If you have the money and plan on shooting in lower light situations this is a great lens.

Coupled with the D-5's full frame sensor (no scale factor) this lens gives truly wide angle shots of sky, ocean, interiors, etc. that are unsurpassed for wide angle effects. (However, be sure to keep ur D-5's sensor meticuously clean as even the smallest dust particles will show!)
