Surprisingly light weight. Typical L quality build, color and contrast. Pretty sharp all the way, not as primes, but excellent for zooms. Distortion and fall-off can be easily fixed by DPP during raw conversion. The hood is oddly shaped and looks ridiculous. Don't expect it to be very effective either. But the lens is quite resistant to flair. Gray market lens is also covered by Canon warranty. Then again, Canon's warranty is only for 1 year any way. Besides, I have been using 10+ Canon lenses for years, from the cheap 18-55 to the Ls. The 35-135 is 20 year old. None of them has had any problem whatsoever. Sigma and Tamron are not as kind to me.

I really like this lens. I was scared to buy a non IS lens but after using this wide angle I feel very confident about my uses for it. Although it is F/4, it lets in plenty of light in dark areas. The focus is very fast and it feels much more durable than any of my other Canon lenses. It fits snuggly on my Canon 40D and works well under normal circumstances.
