Comments about Canon Canon EF-S 18-200mm f/3.5-5.6 IS Auto Focus Lens - Refurbished:

This lens has excellent range. 18-200 will cover all ranges you will generally need for everyday shooting. It's not a specialized wildlife lens, nor a macro lens, nor an ultra-wide, but it handles just about everything where you don't need a specialized lens.Build quality is satisfactory, although there's some expected lens creep (gravity causing the barrel to zoom), but there's a lock on it which holds it in place, so this isn't an issue walking around. The barrel seems fairly solid, which surprised me. The metal camera mount means it's definitely not Canon's worst built lens. The biggest issue I have with this lens is that it produces somewhat soft images without that "snap" of contrast that I expect from 'L' quality lenses. For most things, this is fine, and it will produce images that can be blown up to 16x20 fairly easily. Adjust levels and you might be fine.Use this lens for travel and when you only want to bring one lens (as long as it's not rainy). The Image Stabilization is good, the range is excellent, and it focuses fast enough. It's not a professional lens, but it's a good lens for what you get.I recommend it, but only for the above uses.[...]

This is the lens I carry all the time when I travel with my 7D. It take sharp pictures and easy to use. I got this refurbish and I saw some issues with the zoom from about 150mm-200mm but not a big issue.

I have recommended this lens to many of my friends who got Canon bodies.

IQ is ok but with this much focal range and variable aperture you seem to give up some IQ for the utility. Most will find the trade worthwhile when looking for a solid travel lens w/IS.

Comments about Canon Canon EF-S 18-200mm f/3.5-5.6 IS Auto Focus Lens - Refurbished:

This lens is the perfect walk-around lens. Great wide capability, and great reach with the zoom! Great flexibility for composing your shot. You won't believe the image quality until you see it for yourself, very sharp and the distortion is very manageable.

I was a bit nervous about ordering a refurbished lens, but I was VERY pleasantly surprised! The image quality is excellent, no dust inside the lens or any quality issues, and very little issue with lens creep. I suspect that since the refurb lenses go through Q&A twice, the chances you'll get an example with issues is much lower. My experience certainly was that I got a great example of Canon glass! :)

Comments about Canon Canon EF-S 18-200mm f/3.5-5.6 IS Auto Focus Lens - Refurbished:

The heft to this lens seems to help keep it balanced when being held. The feel to manual focus is great, not too stiff not too loose. Seems to have the best sharpness at mid-range, softer at full zoom. Lens creep is the biggest problem that I've had with this lens. The IS is very helpful. Full zoom in low light is challenging due to the slow max aperature at 200mm. Examples (lots) of using this lens: [@]

Used the lens as a step up from the kit lens that came with my T1i. It feels heavy, but once you start shooting, you forget about the weight. Recently used it for shooting some models indoor, and some landscapes. Worked great. If you are going to take one lens with you, this would be it.

Comments about Canon Canon EF-S 18-200mm f/3.5-5.6 IS Auto Focus Lens - Refurbished:

I bought this lens to replace my Canon Rebel XT(350D) kit lens. It is convenient to carry around without changing lens so often. It appears that the zoom gain from 135-200mm is very limited. The IS feature is a plus when taking photos while moving around. It is a bit heavy, but not too bad. I chose this one over the Tamron 18-270 due to Canon's better picture quality, which is shown in many reviews. I use this lens for kids photos, and it proved pretty efficient. I can easily get a zoom level to take photo whereever the kids run around.

Comments about Canon Canon EF-S 18-200mm f/3.5-5.6 IS Auto Focus Lens - Refurbished:

After very extensive research, the main reason I got this lens is because it gets inspected more closely than any line produced one, wether it was because it was once returned or maybe it was a demo before. It has been brought to manufacturer standards. This lens takes very sharp pictures, maybe not like an "L" series, but very acceptable due to the Image Stabilizer. I like the versatility that this lens brings because I don't have to carry two different lenses (or more) with me when I go on trips. The wide zoom range of this lens makes it very versatile so you can use it for many purposes. It is just like a new one; it even has the very same warranty, so I don't see any problem with it.[...]

Comments about Canon Canon EF-S 18-200mm f/3.5-5.6 IS Auto Focus Lens - Refurbished:

I wanted to upgrade from the standard lens of my EOS Rebel XTi and wanted a lens that I could carry around comfortably on holiday.
I also wanted a lens that could capture a variety of situations, after reading various reviews I decided on the Canon EF-S 18-200mm f/3.5-5.6 IS.
Even though I have a very busy working life and only get the time for this hobby at weekends and holidays this lens has encouraged me to take the camera with me during evening walks and capture the great sunsets at this time of year, even though I'm still learning how to get the best out of this lens I'm having great fun doing so.

Comments about Canon Canon EF-S 18-200mm f/3.5-5.6 IS Auto Focus Lens - Refurbished:

I got this lens for a vacation travel with the family after reading many reviews about super-zooms, and obviously I expected many compromises in exchange for the convenience of a one lens solution.
But I have to say I'm very pleased with the results I am getting with this lens.
Is it a "L" lens?, off course not, neither should you expect that from a lens with this huge focal length.
But I say is Very close to the quality of the kit lens EF-S 18-55 IS and 55-250 IS in one lens, and that is a good thing.
The image Stabilization system works remarkably well
I considered the Tamron and Sigma offerings but I tend to stay with the Canon offerings and this refurbished option is priced right and looks (is?) brand new.
The Auto focus is very fast and spot on, on par with the kit lens, too bad this lens doesn't have USM ring.
Nice rendering of colors and contrast
I would give it a Five star, but is not a perfect lens, it creeps a little but you get used to the lock button, I wish it has USM ring auto focus, but this might bump the price up too and as expected is not a very light lens.

I would recommend this lens to anyone looking for a all around one lens solution, Im very happy with my choice.

Comments about Canon Canon EF-S 18-200mm f/3.5-5.6 IS Auto Focus Lens - Refurbished:

I've carried a number of good lens on vacation only to find that they were a bother to those that I traveled with. This all in one lens is perfect for converting my Canon 40D into a high resolution snapshot camera. The pictures are far superior to an integrated camera and I no longer need the bulk of multiple lens while traveling or the risk of dust getting in the body because of outdoor lens changes. Highly recommended and built to the perfect price point.
