So far so good, about the same build quality of the Canon 50mm 1.4, only "main" difference is the AF.. extremely noisy, luckily it makes up for it in pictures.
Contrast, saturation, etc.. similar to the 85mm 1.2, cant compare to the 35mm 1.4.... but it seems nice, no CA wide open, pretty sharp as well, definitely not as soft as the 50mm 1.4
The focus ring doesnt focus when set to AF, only MF.. and it cant go pass (focus ring) infinity and MFD.
But overall it does what i need it to do in important situations

I basically use this for everything. I decided to go with this lens over the cheaper "nifty 50" for a few reasons. First, the build quality is much higher despite still being a durable strong plastic. The metal mount of the 35mm makes all the difference. The 50mm 1.8ii is known to break quite easily. Also, 35mm gives you a little over 50mm on a cropped sensor camera, which feels more natural to me considering I started with film and was used to the true 50mm range. I recommend looking for this in adorama's used section, as there are usually pretty good priced ones there. More pro's: -minimum focus distance is very close, put some macro tubes on it and you can get pretty close to 1:1 if not all of the way there. -very sharp, mine was even decent in the edges and corners. -fast AF despite not being USM, it does buzz when you autofocus but really it's not as annoying as you might expect. I've heard this lens isn't as good on a full frame camera, but it's my absolute favorite lens on a cropped sensor camera. I use this more than any of my other lenses.

I have two "L" lenses and I find myself using this lens more. I love how light it is. It adds almost no weight to your camera. I use the 2.0 aperture all the time. It helps you get low light shots without having to use very high ISO settings. It is the perfect focal length when attached to a small sensor camera. (Like my 40d) I had a 50mm lens but I always felt boxed in. This focal length solved that problem. It is not perfect but if mine broke today, I would get a new one right away. I bought mine for [$] bucks. That is a great deal for what you get.

I've been using it on my 5D for several months, I do mostly newspaper/documentary work with the occasional portrait. For sports, I wouldn't really recommend it—AF lags a bit too much for that.

But, for the price it's a good buy. Not as sharp or well built as an L lens, but still good. AF is a bit slow and can be loud, but usually not a big deal. I've found its biggest perk though to be it's size: very small, very compact. Much less intrusive when shooting, and I've at least found people to be much less intimidated by it. Not to mention, the next step up at this focal length is about $1,000 more...

Wide open on a full frame, you'll see vignetting and soft corners. Not the worst I've seen, but definitely there. Though that drops off quite a bit by f/2.8. By f/8 it's quite sharp, though again it still isn't an "L" series lens.

I used this with the Canon K2 35mm on Kodak Ultra Color ISO 400. The detail and wide angle effect is wonderful. I have been using the lens to take artistic shots of various buildings. Just a great Wide Angle lens that handles low light situations very well. Love it.

I have used this lens in both outdoor (landscape) and indoor wedding photography. It works well to get the larger angle of view especially in low light.

The lens is great for low light situation where flash is inappropriate. I avoid flash to keep a low profile in photojournalistic settings.

I keep this lens on my DSLR. It focuses fast and produces sharp images even in low light. It works well as an event lens and is good for candid portraits.

With an APS size sensor, not great for large groups or tight spaces. A real wide angle lens this aint.

For the most part, my favorite lens. Miles ahead of the kit lens that came with my 20D.
