It was a big hit as a gift. My daughter loves it. It filled the gap between her 300 mm IS and the 18-55 mm stock lens that came with her digital Rebel.

Comments about Canon Canon EF-S 55-250mm f/4-5.6 IS Image Stabilizer Telephoto Zoom Lens:

I ordered this lens along with my Canon T2i after doing a lot of product research. Any second thoughts about buying a bargain priced lens have been eliminated by its outstanding performance through my first thousand pics. Last weekend I used my Canon EF-S 55-250 to photograph my high power rocketry club launch. Capturing high speed images up to thousands of feet in the air this lens excelled in its quick focus and light gathering ability. Definitely a winner!

Comments about Canon Canon EF-S 55-250mm f/4-5.6 IS Image Stabilizer Telephoto Zoom Lens:

Doesn't do too well in low light because of the apertures, but you won't get much better for this price. Great lens for a beginner or someone looking to break into the world of telephoto zoom lenses. If you are looking to get a bit more serious I would recommend at least the 70-200 F4L, but its about twice the price.

Over all I would almost guarantee you can't beat this lens for the price. Capable of producing very nice images in the right hands. Don't hesitate, buy it for a nice budget tele-zoom lens.

Comments about Canon Canon EF-S 55-250mm f/4-5.6 IS Image Stabilizer Telephoto Zoom Lens:

This was the first lens I purchased for a Canon 450D I bought used from a friend. (Luckily for me, my girlfriend's also a Canon shooter and I can borrow lenses from her as needed.) As one can guess from the price, it's a compromise lens -- slow maximum aperture, not the most confidence-inspiring construction -- but I find that it can give very good results when you work within its limitations. Sharpness and color are good and it's light for its size. For usefulness compared to price, it's hard to beat.

Comments about Canon Canon EF-S 55-250mm f/4-5.6 IS Image Stabilizer Telephoto Zoom Lens:

I love to take pictures. Had a 35mm film camera for a long time.... didn't want to give up for a digital but eventually did for a little pocket size camera. Then I had to have a digital SLR to match my 35mm. I was using my old lenses from the film camera to the digital. Decided I needed to have a new lens. I got this one, more for the price than anything. Figured it would be a good one to get started before investing money in others. I've only used it once so far.... at a NASCAR race... I cannot complain about the pictures I took. Without having a more expensive lens to compare to, this one is definitely worth the money.

I have been photographing Baseball and Soccer Games, Wildlife, Travel/Tourism and Weddings with this lens or at the very least had it by my side ready to go. I would definitely recommend it to anyone and in particularly beginners who are new to using D-SLR and are looking for a good deal on Telephoto Lens. Any blurry pics or weak photos have all been at my error and not the photos, remember its not so much the equipment's fault as it is the operartor's - especially if you don't read your manual!

I have this lens on my Canon Rebel XSi and I use it when we are at the race track. I also love to take pictures of flowers, animals and landscapes. The lense has hardly been off my camera since I bought it in July. I use it for everything! I have a slight tremor sometimes and the Image Stabilizer built into the lense compensates for it. You absolutely will not be disappointed in this lens, but you will be upset with yourself that you put off buying it before now!

The lens is a bit slow (f/4 @ 55mm) but if used in daylight
it should do the job. The weight is excellent making it easy to carry. It might be advisable to use a tripod because of its
slow speed. For the price it's a satisfactory addition to your camera bag.

I bought this lens because the 70-300 was out of my budget right now and I couldn't be happier with this lens. I shoot mostly portraits including children and this lens is great since it allows you to be farther away from your subject. I find that kids don't even realize you are taking their picture so you get very natural looking shots. I also recently used it at a wedding with great results.

Comments about Canon Canon EF-S 55-250mm f/4-5.6 IS Image Stabilizer Telephoto Zoom Lens:

I have been using a 70-300mm lens for wildlife shots (mostly birds). Full zoom required use of a tripod for shots at higher magnification. I have taken many great shots without a tripod with this lens. I am disabled and this lens allows me more mobility, by leaving the tripod at home.
The image shown was taken hand held from about 50 feet distance, then Magnified and croped.
I suggest buying another battery, since this lens will drain it faster when in IS mode.
A wider aperature would be nice, but for the cost, this is a great lens.

Comments about Canon Canon EF-S 55-250mm f/4-5.6 IS Image Stabilizer Telephoto Zoom Lens:

For my Rebel XSi (450D) I bought this as an inexpensive extension of zoom range beyond the kit 18-55mm lens. It gives satisfactory results and meets my expectations. Image Stabilization works extremely well; in daylight, hand-held exposures (even from a standing position) at 250mm are uniformly good. Excellent value at the price. The accompanying picture was taken at 200mm, hand-held.

Comments about Canon Canon EF-S 55-250mm f/4-5.6 IS Image Stabilizer Telephoto Zoom Lens:

I am usign this lens with Canon Rebel XSi/450D. I took it on our trip around US, it has been a perfect companion to kit lens. Yes, it's plastic, along with the mount, the focus might not be the fastest, but you have to look at it having the price tag in mind: you get really good telephoto range AND image stabilization under $300. For me it's a perfect first telephoto lens, I'm extremely satisfied and continue to have a lot of fun with it.

Comments about Canon Canon EF-S 55-250mm f/4-5.6 IS Image Stabilizer Telephoto Zoom Lens:

This lens is a good example of getting what you pay for. It's a very cheap zoom lens with Image Stabilization. Pictures taken with it turned out very soft, especially when zoomed to 250mm. I rate it as the same quality as the 18-55mm kit lens than comes w/ the Rebel, XT, and XTi. If you are happy with that lens then you should like this. Image Stabilization is a real lifesaver and for the casual user this lens should work fine. Despite a being slow to focus I was able to use this to shoot action shots and have some of them turn out. It was also nice to have the long reach to capture wildlife shots, but it was not often able to get the shots clear enough for my taste. Personally I sold it within a month and forked over the extra money for a 70-200 f/4L. Well worth spending the extra money if you're concerned with sharpness and build quality.

Comments about Canon Canon EF-S 55-250mm f/4-5.6 IS Image Stabilizer Telephoto Zoom Lens:

Firstly, if you can forgive the plasticy finish, sloppy telephoto fit and slow AF focus, the rest is pure heaven.
Like the legendary Canon 50mm 1.8 prime, this budget 55-250mm lens with image stabilizer and sharp to the end, really delivers.
Canon are to be congratulated, for producing a telephoto lens at an affordable price, with image stabilization, that gives outstanding results.
I am extremely happy with the 500 odd photos I took with this lens, the IS is really a winner.
Sample shots shown, were taken in Melbourne in winter, with slightly overcast conditions and mild pollution.

Comments about Canon Canon EF-S 55-250mm f/4-5.6 IS Image Stabilizer Telephoto Zoom Lens:

I bought this lens for my wife for two reasons:
1)It is light weight so I know she will use it.
2)It has IS that has helped her to get shots that she would normally miss with the Tamaron 75-300mm.

Comments about Canon Canon EF-S 55-250mm f/4-5.6 IS Image Stabilizer Telephoto Zoom Lens:

Very nice lens. I have been using for a few days now. The IS function is incredible, once you use a lens with IS you'll never go back. Incredible sharpness even at 150mm, 200mm 250mm. There is no USM on this lens but it's still very quiet. A bit heavy but nothing you wouldn't expect from a solid telephoto lens. And the price, obviously you can't beat that. If you're looking for an introductory zoom lens with IS under $500, this is definitely the lens for you.
