Better than the 75-300, not as good as the 70-200f4L, but at half the price and an extra 100mm at the long end, its tough to beat for the price.

Should have paid the extra money and went with the L-series
Not to happy with the quality of this lense, The EF 70-300mm is marginal at best

Good addition for the 17-85IS that I use as my general purpode lens. It's not to heavy to carry, and not to expensive so I can afford it. It's not an L lens in terms of quality, but it is much better than other lenses I tried including the Canon 55-250 and 18-200 as well as 3'rd party.

I recently acquired this lens before leaving for vacation. I took about 2000 shots with my new XSi camera, the majority were wildlife and distant objects. This lens has great reach and the IS helped yield great shots from the unstable deck of a boat. The 55-250mm lens may be great, but I like this one better.
