Wildlife shots on African plain before sunrise required high ISO (3200 at f5.7 and 1/200th). Results very good.

Comments about Canon Canon EF 70-300mm f/4.5-5.6 DO IS USM Autofocus Telephoto Zoom Lens - Refurbished By Canon USA:

Much lighter than the 100-400IS and better image quality than the consumer grade 75-300IS f4.0-5.6. Makes a great lens for hiking and urban photography. Focus seems a little slow for action. Out of focus areas are pleasingly blurred.

Comments about Canon Canon EF 70-300mm f/4.5-5.6 DO IS USM Autofocus Telephoto Zoom Lens - Refurbished By Canon USA:

This was one of the first good Canon lens I bought and although I now own 9, most of them L lens, the 70-300 DO IS remains a strong contender in my lens bag.

It is fairly small and lightweight, making for a much less conspicuous lens. The IS works well, and I am very pleased with my photos. They are not quite the quality of the 135 or 35L, but in exchange for a slight softness I get a large range of focal points, very pleasing colors, a quick focusing and versatile lens. I always have this available when I travel - just a great little tool. I have photographed soccer games, children playing, mountains and rivers. Highly recommend.

Comments about Canon Canon EF 70-300mm f/4.5-5.6 DO IS USM Autofocus Telephoto Zoom Lens - Refurbished By Canon USA:

Many people don't understand this lens and hence don't like it. It's not a 70-200 f/2.8; it's a small, inconspicuous, black, Gen3 IS, stealth lens. Some think the consumer lens is as good, but when you compare them side by side, this lens outclasses the consumer version, with its better build, non rotating front element, superior size/weight ratio, fast focus, and subtle appearance. I've taken it to many countries when my other faster, larger, and heavier lenses stayed home. It's not as sharp or fast as a 70-200 lens, but how many are?

Comments about Canon Canon EF 70-300mm f/4.5-5.6 DO IS USM Autofocus Telephoto Zoom Lens - Refurbished By Canon USA:

Optical quality was disappointing given the price. Images (on both a 10D and a 5D) are typically soft. It doesn't feel solidly built either, and constantly zooms in due to its own weight. The 70-200 f4 (with or without IS) is likely a much better deal.
